~ God Works In Mysterious Ways ~

by Tina~in_ut

Dwight Nelson recently told a true story about the pastor of his church. He had a kitten that climbed up a tree in his backyard and then was afraid to come down. The pastor coaxed, offered warm milk, etc.

The kitty would not come down. The tree was not sturdy enough to climb, so the pastor decided that if he tied a rope to his car and pulled it until the tree bent down, he could then reach up and get the kitten.

That's what he did, all the while checking his progress in the car. He then figured if he went just a little bit further, the tree would be bent sufficiently for him to reach the kitten. But as he moved the car a little further forward, the rope broke.

The tree went 'boing!' and the kitten instantly sailed through the air - out of sight.

The pastor felt terrible. He walked all over the neighborhood asking people if they'd seen a little kitten. No. Nobody had seen a stray kitten. So he prayed, 'Lord, I just commit this kitten to your keeping,' and went on about his business.

A few days later he was at the grocery store, and met one of his church members. He happened to look into her shopping cart and was amazed to see cat food. This woman was a cat hater and everyone knew it, so he asked her, 'Why are you buying cat food when you hate cats so much?'

She replied, 'You won't believe this,' and then told him how her little girl had been begging her for a cat, but she kept refusing. Then a few days before, the child had begged again, so the Mom finally told her little girl, 'Well, if God gives you a cat, I'll let you keep it.' She told the pastor, 'I watched my child go out in the yard, get on her knees, and ask God for a cat. And really, Pastor, you won't believe this, but I saw it with my own eyes. A kitten suddenly came flying out of the blue sky, with its paws outspread, and landed right in front of her.'

Dianne: I smile a lot too..I just cry good and hardy when I cry.. And, heck, I am menopausal..isn't that part of the package?? lol... :)

Whabby: Thanks! Not sure why you congratulated me, but I think it was for first yesterday.. :)

Yes, I miss Carol too... I was just thinking of that yesterday.

Bonjour Bebbi....

well that was certainly a funny story....

well I must commend the weatherman...for once he was right...we have snow on the ground this morning. Not much...but it covers everything....

I don't have to get out today so I am going to enjoy sitting by a crackling fire and snoozing by a crackling fire....playing with Belle by a crackling fire....gosh! I hope my fire doesn't stop crackling....

Now lets all join in a rousing "Let It Snow" sing-a-long!!

I'll be playing my kazoo as my golden singing voice would drown you all out......

Everyone ready...remember...if ur a monotone just lip sync....Tina..

glares at Shirley

OK...here we go!

ana 1 ana 2...

Oh, the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And I brought some corn for popping;
The lights are turned way down low,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

When we finally say good night,
How I'll hate going out in the storm;
But if you really hold me tight,
All the way home I'll be warm.

The fire is slowly dying,
And, my dear, we're still good-bye-ing,
But as long as you love me so.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

YAYYYY!!!!! Now join me for some of DeeDee's famous POPCORN for a nominal corn fee....eat up! we'll take it out of your check!!

DeeDee: I had the best fire last night!! It was so warm and so good! I am going to buy some marshmallows today, that was the only thing that was missing. It is going to snow here so my weekend will be enjoying my fire too. Loved the song! :)

Whabby: Yes, we KNOW how Tina likes first..he he...

Tina: That story REALLY made me laugh and lifted me up today. Thanks! :) I need to get out of this cry baby rut. Oh, and by the way, in case God reads this blog.. I really apologize for my ranting and railing at you last night..I know, I am an ignorant, whiny, and bad child sometimes..so please forgive me.

*ponying up some money for the corn fund* I guess I'll have some popcorn too. Here's an extra donation, DeeDee, just to keep you in your Mel De Mar cream..or whatever that stuff is that I will never be able to afford..ha ha :)

Bebbilane said...

I had to pay $2 to wear jeans to work today, I can at least contribute a couple of extra dollars for some popcorn too. :)

Bebbilane said...

Or as some people say it here in Kentucky.....PawwwwwKorn

Bebbilane said...

Am I annoying anyone yet?

DeeDee said...

Morning Owls:

DEEDEE: You are singing the wrong song and will probably not get anyone to join in to Let It Snow, Let It Snow. You also will not get many smiles from the song Baby It's Cold Outside (actually maybe all of us will sing that one). So.....no wishing and singing for snow but I will take a bucket of popcorn, please.

BEBBI: Congrats on first. So you and God were having an argument last night, huh? Well, rumor has it that he forgives pretty fast so get that smile back on for the day.

GOLDIE: Are you feeling any better today? You can't be sick for the Super Bowl. I mean priorities are priorities. GO PACKERS!!!

BEAR: It is so nice of you to offer to help out with MrD's Anniversary present. If it weren't for friends.....j/s

TINA: Cute blog. I don 't think I would even take a cat if if it dropped from heaven to me but I do like the story and the ending.

Dianne/Denver said...

MARY: I hope today goes as planned for you and the weather cooperates. You are in my thoughts all day.

Hello to all the other owls that will come on later. I sure don't like being up so darn early!!!

goldie said...

DeeDee- he works for Virgin America. Hadn't heard about it yet, so guessing it wasn't him.:)

Dianne- I am feeling better, I think the antibiotics have finally taken hold. Nothing worse then a damn earache!

GO PACKERS!!!!!!!!!!!

Morning Glories!

Tried to comment yesterday but I had a two year old and a one month old all by myself yesterday. By the time Mom and Dad came home I was wiped out!

Tina that was cute. I can just see the kitten flying through the air and landing in front of a little girl! lol

J/L I have not had a cigarette. It will be 3 months on the 9th.

My new addiction is Trident splash strawberry with lime gum. :)

On all of the comments about Eva. It is amazing how children can thrive through adverse conditions. Whabby considering the first diagnosis we were given, I think her development is nothing short of a miracle at this point. Thank you all for your prayers and positive thoughts!

DeeDee said...

lol at Dianne not even willing to take a heavely cat.....thats funny..

wish I had thought of that...but I would not have wanted to offend the cat lovers like Dianne did...after cussing me out about my song.....

grabs someones purse and runs from room sobbing...

Just_Lin said...

Bebbi Congrats on first! You look so pretty today and your eyes aren't froggy at all, even with the crying. Why do you have to pay $2 to wear jeans to work?

Just_Lin said...

DeeDee Enjoy your crackling fire today. Do you have someone in charge of keeping it going or do you have to do it yourself like a commoner?

Just_Lin said...

Goldie I'm glad to hear that the earache is finally getting better. I haven't had one since I was a child but I remember that they hurt really badly. If you talk to Jodi, say "hey" for us. I miss her.

Just_Lin said...

Bear LOL You're very punny.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne Have you come to any decisions about what to get MrD for your anniversary? You didn't seem too thrilled with Tina's and Bear's suggestions.

Bebbilane said...

DeeDee: LOL!! @ Mel Torme cream..beautiful, just beautiful..roflmao.

Dianne: Yes, well, I was yelling at him and telling him all kinds of pieces of my mind and then today I felt a little guilty. Now, mind you, I didn't name call or anything just ranted..but I guess I should be more AFRAID of him, but well, recently, I AM NOT..lol.

He's forgiven me though..but he didn't talk to me all morning.

Fa La La La La La..La La La Laaaaa...
Nope, just not the same as Carol...but it was a nice try! :)

J/L: $2 to United Way if you wanted to wear jeans today...but HA, the managers had to pay $5..it sure must SUCK to be rich..LOL.

Just_Lin said...

LynnD I am very impressed and grateful that you have not smoked in 3 months! What an accomplishment. I know I was starting to notice an improvement in my lung capacity at that point. How about you. If being in charge of a 2 year old and a 1 month old didn't drive you to smoke, nothing will. Hang in there. You are doing super. I bet you wish you would have done this long ago. I sure did.

Bebbilane said...

I miss Jodi too..and Carol and Heidi...and just about everybody while I have been off in my "own little world"..lol. :)

Mary: Thinking of you lots and lots. Hang in there and sending love & thoughts to you.

Just_Lin said...

Bebbi Ranting or not, He still loves you. :)

Just_Lin said...

Tina I don't know who Dwight Nelson is but, surely, this is not a true story. We saw a kitten who jumped down from atop a telephone pole and broke both front legs.

Bebbilane said...

Lynn: Way to go on not smoking!!!!!!!! yay yay yay...!

J/L: Thank goodness. :) I have been a handful lately.

bonachichi said...

I knew a cat. It used to revenge-shit in the living room every time the owner left.

DeeDee, I'm assuming you invented snow, yes?

Hi guys!

TINA: Awww..that's a cute story..I hope the woman bought a big bag of kitty litter too.. ;D

God does work in mysterious ways..sometimes I wish I understood them better!! :)

BEBBI: Hey Beautiful! I've been there, crying and asking God "Why?"..and then feeling bad about it. Someone told me He had big shoulders and understood. :)

DIANNE: Good Morning Someone! ;) I have a feeling you'd want that heavenly cat if a heavenly mouse flew in first!! :D

DEEDEE: What is it that makes your popcorn so famous..just curious.. ;)

GOLDIE: I'm glad you're feeling better..and you didn't even have to go to Urgent Care nekkid..or did you? ;)

BEAR: It's going to warm up nicely this weekend..and it's supposed to stay that way for a while..I hope Palm Springs has the same forecast!

J/LIN: Are you ready for your trip..and...are you READY for your trip? ;D

Sheesh..the doorbell rang and I forgot to publish..I swear I'm so easily distracted!

Bebbilane said...

Bonachichi: We had a poodle named Gigi when I was young. She hated my Dad. When we would leave, she would get up in his favorite chair and shit...

My dog shits on the carpet, not as revenge but because I don't want to get up at 4 a.m. and take him out..bad owner syndrome!! uggh. I don't mind in the summer..but dang, it's too cold and I need my sleep in the winter!!!!!

Bebbilane said...

Kathy: It really does help to know that others have felt the same way. I am going to heal, it just takes time and I am not going to bottle up the emotion. I just want to flow through it and on down the river of joy.. :)

DeeDee said...

well duh Kathy!

cuz I invented corn....

no t-Bird...I did not invent snow...but I did fiddle around and come up with the barometer...

J/L....yes I do have help with the fireplaces....Lupes husband Jesse does all the "man" stuff...matter of fact I just requested that he start the fire in my bathroom and turn on the floor....I would like to bathe....and reapply...
