I am curious about how people define friendships. Is it different for different types of friends? Do you have one set of rules for real life friends, cyber friends, your best friend or just people you may hang out with but not share all of your life with? Can cyber friends be real friends? Do loyalties and convictions differ between the types of friends?

Donna Jean - My thoughts and prayers are with you and Laurie tonight and every night until the next procedure is over.
Sandie - I not only get the spiders on my page but I get the 'growlies'. They are like Happy Faces only one growls loudly and the other says in a Mike Myers' Austin Powers' accent, "Behave". I am used to it now but the first time I was sitting late at night all alone in this big house and heard that voice I nearly fell off my chair. Thank God I have two watch dogs that look after me.

Mo--very good question, I've been here for an hour, just reading all the posts on this.
Friendships to me mean loyalty, honesty and trustworthiness. I had a "friend" for over 10 years that betrayed me once. I forgave her. Then she did it again about a month after we'd finally talked about the first incident. Wow, I was so slammed, it amazes me to this day how hurt I was. Since, I can hardly stand to talk to her, for what she's done. That is a friend I no longer want!
I have a best friend from high school, and sometimes we go a year or more before we talk to each other again, but we just pick up where we left off. I have another one that I talk to on the phone almost every day, and she'd be here in an instant for me. I have some very good friends through my volunteer work, and I have made some lasting friendships through cyber space.
I appreciate all of my friendships, but at first, I'm very leary of opening up too much. After I trust someone, look out, cuz with me it's what you see is what you get. Once I know a person is a true friend, or I think they are, (and I give everyone the benefit of the doubt!) I am just totally honest with them.

Everyone--I would like to take a minute to say "THANK YOU" to all of you for letting me into your nest!! I truely wish I had more time to spend here each day, but I don't!
Between my kids' sports, running concession stands, and doing day care, I just run out of time each day.
Even though I'm not here every day, I sure hope you don't mind when I do stop by! I really, really love this place!

Mine is going be a celtic cross the 4 leaf clover in the middle and 2 purple roses in full bloom at the base of the cross...

We are getting hit with some serious weather here! Winds are high, gusting to 50mph. We had rain,turned to ice, now high winds & snow!. I'm keeping my flashlight and bunches of blankets close by.So glad I'm not driving home from work tonight. I do feel bad for those that have to!
for the record - I wanted purple flowers on mine when I first went - but the guy seemed to not really care - he wasn't very friendly to me - but talked up a storm to my little bro - amazing the difference in his personality.. and since I didn't know how "painful" it would be - I just went with the cross and shamrock.. since I know that it did not hurt "there" - i am going to get it fancied up!!

About "friendship and participation"
That is my definition of what a good blog is....
I felt it was necessary for recognition.
To give others that might be searching for a place,or feel the way we do about blogging to have a safe haven to be part of too.
I hope this makes the Owls happy, and opens the door to new cyber friends coming into our nest.

My next tattoo. will be a tribute to friend that passed away 2 weeks ago.. I will have a humming bird with a tiger lily!!
Tomorrow will 2 weeks since we had her memorial service...
The days are getting better ... you all came into my life at a time I really needed support the most...
You can't know how much you have helped me Deal with my loss, and not even know it!!
She was one of my best friends for 22 years.... She just lost a very hard fought battle with cancer... first in her lungs... then after a 3 year battle with that.. she got 3 brain tumors... and she is amazing.. the did brain surgery on Friday.. and she was home on Tuesday..
I mean they -flip top opened her head...
that was oct 2006.. then in nov.. she 2007 she found out that there were 5 more tumors in the brain and 2 more in teh lungs... she told the doctor she had to make it through Christmas .. her whole family was coming home ... she took radidation to slow the swelling and she made it all the way to January 12th...
She was one of the best things that ever happened to me... I will miss her guidance soooo much...
