I am sitting here thinking, and for some reason I am thinking of chocolate. Funny how thoughts pop into ones mind at certain times. Now I have thought of chocolate many times before, but my thinking process is somewhat different this time. I really don't love chocolate, its not one of my favorites snacks, yet I find myself eating it anyway. When I am in a store, looking for a snack I always look to the chocolate bars knowing I don't love them, yet thinking I want it. I do buy it, but it will sit in a drawer out of view for days, or weeks sometimes before I eat it. Most of the time I don't even eat it, I have thrown so many chocolate bars away, cause I think I have it to long and the taste will not be the same. So my question to myself is, am I a chocolate hoarder? Can it be that I just like to buy it knowing I am not going to eat it, but want to save it? Or, perhaps I know its fattening, so I want to be a rebel and buy it, but not eat it?
I also noticed I don't like to share my chocolate, if I have some I will never tell anyone, so I don't have to share. But do I not share, so I can hoard it all in a drawer?
I really can't answer these questions, cause I have no idea why for years I have been doing this. Can it be that I need an intervention? I just hope I am never exiled to Willie Wonka's Chocolate Factory, cause I would either starve to death or take the place apart piece by piece, only to throw each piece away in the biggest garbage dumpster I can muster up!

I adore chocolate, but of course I must limit the intake, so I am very choosey about my chocolate. It must be really good stuff for me to eat it. I really love chocolate covered peanuts. Oh, and those chocolate iced peanut crispie bars? I could live on those (except it would kill me)!
My favorite combo when drinking beer is chocolate and potato chips. Yum.

Carol, I am the tool person. Can't help myself. There was a time when I'd break one bone or another several times a year. I can stand a cast for maybe a week. Then I'd cut them off myself. A few years ago I broke my ankle so my tools were confiscated to keep me from cutting the cast off. I jumped in a pool then went to the ER where they HAD to take it off. Since then, I only get removable casts.

I was just getting ready to leave and my phone rang.. It was one of the girls I worked at Dialysis with... she was crying and could hardly get it out... one of our co-workers passed last night... she was an epiletic(sp)... she had just given her granddaughter a bath and teh granddaughter ran downstairs so mommy could dry her off...and Dale(my friend) had a seizure and fell inteh tub and drowned... by the time they found her it was to late ... her daughter tried to do CPR but it was too late....

Carol You seem to like having chocolate at hand "just in case". Perhaps you were really having a craving one day but couldn't leave to go pick some up. Or maybe when you were little, all your little friends had some chocolate but not you and you vowed to never be caught empty handed again.
I am taking an inventory right now. I have a large candy jar full of Hershey Kisses, I have an open Hershey syrup in the fridge and a back up one in the pantry, I have a couple of Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate extra large bars in the bread drawer as well as some SnackWell Devil's Food cookies (blah). I am counting calories right now so only eat a little bit of chocolate a day but I sure like to surround myself with it. Oh, I also have some Swiss Miss cocoa mix but that hardly counts as it is too light of a chocolate.
IBB Big (((HUGS))) to you! What a horrible tragedy and such a shock for the family! I am so very sorry!

Carol, There is something un-American about not loving chocolate. And as for the question, "Does it go bad?" I've never been able to find out. It has never lasted that long in my possession, especially if it is dark chocolate. I did give it up for Lent once and it almost killed me. My family was BEGGING me to eat some chocolate.
Goldie, Whitman's makes sugarless chocolate in various varieties that is really good. The Weight Watcher's is not as good, but in a pinch, I'll eat it.

sacBarb, chocolate goes bad. It takes a long time, though. It turns a very light color. If you ate rotten chocolate, you'd probably need a seatbelt for the commode to keep from lifting off.

I'm back from my trip--had a wonderful time visiting my family and friends. I miss them so much. It's good to be back home, though, in my flip flops! :)
Carol, maybe chocolate is just a comfort for you to have around. I used to love chocolate but haven't had it since October. While I really believe you should eat in balance to include all foods you enjoy, I know that I am a sugar addict. And, like an alcoholic, I cannot trust myself to just have a bit. So, I do not eat it at all. I thought I would miss it terribly but I don't.

At the office the volume of people has slowed down but the work has increased because the returns are bigger ones (small businesses, rental properties,fishing boat owners etc.). One of the onesI was doing today had gum stuck to some of the receipts and one receipt had blood on it. Grosed me out.

Yes Just Lin it was disgusting, but unfortunately we have seen worse...cigarette butts, fish scales, condoms (fortunately they weren't used), pills, socks and one time we even found a pocket knife. People just throw stuff in a grocery bag or box and bring it in. They don't care...until they get their bill.

A long and frustrating day at work today. But I have kind of a funny story I may come back and share after I find some dinner

I hope you ladies don't think it's just us wimmin who hoard chocolate... Dad called me today to tell me big Hershey bars were on sale. Translation: He wanted me to get them. I dropped the bars at his place and he's got 6 others besides the 4 I bought.
ok, long post alert!!!
What happened at work is NOT really funny, it's actually really sad, but it cracked us up.
We have to call each patient and introduce our services and the clinicians that will be calling and seeing them. We also have to verify the phone numbers and address.
So, today was very stressful and it was ater 6 and I tried to call a patient we are supposed to admit and dress their wound tomorrow. Every phone number on the referral was disconnected. I was furious, and with no phone number or absolute address, how can we go? So I gave it to my boss and went to the next referral. I call and this lady answers. I ask for Alfred (the patient) and she goes Alfred? WHo's ALfred? I read her the number I called and she goes, "Uh yeah" so I figured they gave me a wrong number again. My boss volunteers to look into it so I can make the other 6 calls I still had to make. She calls the son and he cracks up laughing. He said it WAS his mom, who lives in their in-law suite, and Alfred WAS there. The sad part is, he said to tell the nurse to NEVER call his parents...only him or his wife as both parents have Alzheimers and they have no idea who they are. I guess he has totally accepted it and has chosen humor to deal with it. My boss then spent the next half hour walking around asking for Alfred.
I know it is NOT funny, but for some reason, it totally cracked us up. Maybe we were so stressed anyhting was needed to break the tension.
Regarding hoarding chocolate. I almost never hoarde it. But, last year after all the talk here about chocolate filled eggs, I discovered the Orange filled and the Caramel filled eggs. OMG! After Easter, I went from store to store and bought dozens of eggs! I had one a day and cherished each morsel! I think it was MEK who started that!!

I had another ex-patient call and ask me why she didn't get all the services she should have. I asked her what she thought she didn't get, since she had a nurse, physical therapist, occupational therapist and home health aide. She wanted to know why we didn't send her anyone to clean her house and run her errands for her! I had a heck of a time explaining we are a health care agency not merry maids! Oy, what a day! I could use those dove eggs...NOW!
Alfred, um, I mean, MO I guess I just have that kind of dark sense of humor as I LMAO at your story.

I worked for See's Candies for 10 years....omg! I ate it all the time....I love chocolate covered nuts! (both kinds really!) I love truffles.....i'll try any new chocolate that comes out. My favorite ice cream is chocolate. I hoard it....but sadly...i eat it!!!! Carol....LOVED ur video...ur so cute~
