I was going to pose this as a comment question and then I thought, oh what the hell, may as well make it a blog. So here goes. My office messages with someone from our Bridgewater office. She is smart and funny and we kid around a lot, like we all do here. She can turn any conversation into something to do with sex! I swear she is obsessed with sex! Lol! You guys would like her.
Anyway, she knows about my phobia with cats, yet she will type cat noises to me and send me little emotion pictures of a cat. If I say stop she says "what?". I know she isn't being mean by doing it but it hurts my feelings. I finally blocked her today. So my question to you is...When is enough enough?"
OK let me have it. I'm being silly. Just ignore her. Let it go. I've asked, so what do you all think? Can anyone relate or am I in this sinking boat alone?

OMG!!!!! Can any of you believe I am first on the blog? I can't even believe it. I had to get up at the crack of dawn as I am going to .....guess.....the dentist on the other side of town and have to be there at 8AM and it is rush hour and pouring rain. I know you can only see my owl but you have seen my picture so you already know that I am gorgeous!!! I am so pretty at one....even prettier than TINA AND DEEDEE.
Haven't even read blog but I need to get ready now a I have to leave in ten minutes and I haven't even gotten ready. I am just too excited about being first!!!!!!!!!

If a person knows that something truly bothers someone and persists in it.....you have to close the door.....
I fully support the office of the presidency and I have a couple of friends who persist in sending me jokes that are disrespectful of Barack Obama and his family....I just delete them as soon as I realize what they are.....
Inflicting fear or anxiety is not funny....NOT FUNNY...

I have someone in my life who is a bully. He picks on everyone and is just really a bully. It is hard to ignore him and he frequently steps over the line and irritates the holy shit out of me. Really, sometimes it is too much. I wish I could put him on "ignore"..lol. But, since I can't, I will internally shut off my emotions to the best of my ability. It's like in the movie The Labrynth - I say, "You have no power over me".

Shirley- if you have asked someone to stop and they don't then I say DELETE.
To me it would be like tickling someone while they beg you to stop and you dont. It is a form of abuse. You did the right thing. If someone is uncomfortable or hurt, it is not done in jest anymore~and there is no justification for it. So I believe you are completely in the right!!
Mr. G and I decided to go to have a weekend getaway. Going to the Casino and Hotel in the WI dells and spending Saturday night. Eat, drink, gamble and se......well, you get the idea!!

Speaking of delete~~ my sisters mother'-n-law is a strict Catholic Republican. My sister? A strict Democrat,
Her Mother in law would send all kind of crap that is rude, ignorant and outright false about Obama to her. My sis had asked her many times to stop- said she respected that she is a Republican and never sent her anything about Bush or Palin or any number of others.
Well the MIL would not stop so my sister deleted her, and blocked her emails. Totally pissed her off and she said to her, I asked nice and you continue. So see ya!
After not speaking to my Sis for about a month, she finally broke the silence and promised not to do it again if my sis would unblock her. LOL
I don't talk about it but I suffer from Theophobia and Ecclesiophobia....yet I have friends that won't let it drop...because they have Hadephobia!!
Sometimes I want to say alright already with the Hadephobia!! But I can't because I also have Wiccaphobia....
but ya know...I think the worst phobia ia the fear of long words...

Like others I have been the route with one of my Aunts who kept sending me racist misinformed crap. I asked politely that she not include me in these forwards, she went a bit crazy and told me she would have to delete me from her email. I emailed her back and I said once again. I just asked that you not send me this racist misinformed garbage not to delete me. Didn't matter she still did even on FB. You know what I did? LMAO
Lordy I tried to handle it like an adult. I told my Dad I just don't think she could wrap her head around the fact that I am 48 and just might have my own opinion. Not little lynnepie anymore. He was shocked that she would do that (it's his sister) Then he did say she was always one to over react. LMAO again.

Okay..I am off to the grocery store. It is nice to be off today but I am TIRED. Went to the Y to work out and slowly but surely getting my stuff packed. IT's going to be a wet and wild camping trip. I am worried that it will be too cold for commando which will be a huge disappointment. But Mr. has been walking around all morning in the kilt and it's been thrilling..ha ha.

SHIRLEY: I think you have to do whatever makes you feel comfortable. If you are cringing when you see she has sent you an email..then it's best to either block her or delete them on sight. I mean you asked her to stop..and she didn't. Right?
My cousin sends me the grossest emails sometimes..usually weird youtube videos. I just delete them without opening them up. He also sends me all kinds of pro gun, hunting stuff...delete. I've gotten so used to the crap..I almost deleted their vacation pics just because I assumed they were more junk! I've since told him to make sure the subject line is filled out accurately so I know what to get rid of immediately.. :D
DIANNE: Congrats on being beautiful in blue today! I think it's about time the dentist offered you frequent visitor discounts! I'm really sorry to hear you had to go again today. I hope it's going to be an easy fix this time.

Well, it stopped raining long enough for us to get the van packed and we will be heading out shortly. I will take lots of pics. I won't be bringing the puppies this year because I just think it's too much with the rain we are supposed to get. If Friendship Indiana floods over or has a tornado and I am blown away, it was nice knowing you all and you'll never get to see the pictures. I will be back in a couple of days. When's enough enough? Good question. I don't think I'm of an age where I'd be telling my dad on people, though; family members or no. People have a right to their opinions and to express them. We also have the right to ignore them and even tell them what we think (our own opinions). If someone's disrespecting another by deliberately hurting someone after being asked not to, that's just bullying and if you continue to take it, you're giving the bully permission to keep on doing it.
You can't change another person, but you can change your response or association with that person. With all due respect, we need to get off our Queen Bee throne and toughen up.
So far, the response for anti-malware software has been overwhelming! I want to give kudos to each and every one of you who care enough to take care of your computers.
I've sent about a dozen drives off so far, any who haven't asked yet are welcome with open arms. Tina will have 2 drives to share with those of you who bring your laptops with you.
I'm leaving some duplicates behind, in envelopes, ready to go except for addresses. Any requests made whilst I'm gone will be taken care of my my assistant who will type new address labels and drop them in the mail.
If anyone has questions, call me; it will help break up the motony of endless stretches of roads. Heck, maybe I'll even catch up on sleep!

Bebbi I did not in my email say racist garbage. I politely addressed that I did not appreciate the racist commentary or racist jokes. When the cartoons or other items keep on about niggers and hanging niggers or stringing up niggers I have just an itsy bitsy problem as I have a son in law and two grandchildren who are half black.
There was also a lot of misinformation and I provided links that were easily looked up and a study done by Harvard. I asked that if she could not refrain from sending me this,then just to take me off of her list.
How much do you take??? Well that was my limit. I spent months of deleting and it was getting to the point I would cringe when the email came.
Bonachichi I am not a Queen Bee and do not have or ever had a Queen Bee attitude. Yes I talked to my Dad about it and it was not tattling as you implied. I just told him about the situation and asked him what was up with her.
Do I love my relatives yes. Do I always like them NO. I have the right to decide how much I have to put up with and what the costs are. I have lived crazy and I no longer accept that I have to include it or have it in my life.
So if Shirley feels uncomfortable with her situation she should end the discomfort. Period. When you allow others to make you feel so very uncomfortable it makes you ill not them.
Just my 2 cents.
PS Shirley has a cat phobia very real. Would you lock a claustrophobic in a closet and think it was funny?

DeeDee I have never been diagnosed with a phobia, so I will just say that I have an intense fear of cats. My blood pressure rises, my heart beats faster, sometimes I'll scream if it's close enough to me. I don't like walking over cat prints in the snow...it sends a shiver threw me. Cartoon images or pictures of cats I don't like. Cat eyes freak me out. I won't go to anyone's house if there is a cat. I just think of them leaping at me and i just ... describing all of this is even making me uncomfortable. To me...and in my eyes cats look evil. That's how I see them. I apologize to all of you who have cats and love them dearly. I know you can't possible understand how I feel. I don't believe in hurting cats or anything, maybe just keeping them all far far away from me. lol! DeeDee does this answer your question?
SHIRLEY...If you have a fear, then you have a fear. No need to have to explain it any further to your co-worker. YOu asked her to stop and she refused, so then I agree...block her if that is what you want to do. And if she questions you, be honest and tell her why. I think she is being a bully, mean and disrespectful.
LYNN...I think it is great that you have the open relationship to talk to your dad - adult to adult. Your Aunt isn't going to change, so best to be deleted from her email!

Shirley, I agree that blocking your co-worker is a clear message to her and frees you of her emails. It shouldn't take that, but in cases when a simple request to stop isn't accepted, then you have no other choice. And it shouldn't matter whether it is because of a phobia or simply that you dislike the content. She obviously was trying to annoy you.

LynnD, we live in a society where we are labelled negatively for remarks that are innocent or at the very least, not directed at any one person. That's clear when you assume I meant you regarding out Queen Bee attitude. It was in fact, NOT directed at you. It was directed towards people who spend a large portion of their lives looking for slights when none are intended.
Let's take Shirley; I was unaware that she didn't like being called Shirl.I meant no harm nor disrespect, but there are those who would make a mountain out of an anthill because I'd called her "Shirl" a time or two. When I found out she disliked that nickname, I stopped using it. Shirley was gracious when I apologized. She could have taken the Queen Bee attitude and chosen to hold the fact that I'd called her "a name". There are plenty out there who would hold a grudge over that. If I continued to call her "Shirl", the answer would have been simple; disassociate herself from me. Thankfully, Shirley accepted my apology and I'll not fall her that name again. THAT'S what I mean by the Queen Bee attitude. There are just too many people with chips on their shoulder; looking for a slight where none is intended.

Shirley I am a cat person but I totally understand that you really have a fear of them. I agree with everyone else that since you made your co-worker aware of your feelings and she refuses to respect them, then the only recourse is to block her. It's too bad but I think she thought it was all a joke and didn't really take you seriously.
I hope everyone is feeling better than I am. I have one hell of a cold and feel like crap. I sure hope this is well behind me by next Wednesday when I drive to SacBarb's.
