AAADD

by Tinka

Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder. Somehow I feel better even though I think I have it!!

Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway,
I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start toward the garage,

I notice mail on the porch table that
I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys on the table,

put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,
and notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back

on the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think,

since I'm going to be near the mailbox
when I take out the garbage anyway,
I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my check book off the table,

and see that there is only one check left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study,
so I go inside the house to my desk where
I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks,
but first I need to push the Pepsi aside
so that I don't accidentally knock it over.

The Pepsi is getting warm,

and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi,
a vase of flowers on the counter
catches my eye--they need water.

I put the Pepsi on the counter and
discover my reading glasses that
I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk,
but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter,
fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,
I'll be looking for the remote,
but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table,
so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,
but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers,
but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.

So, I set the remote back on the table,
get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to
remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:

the car isn't washed
the bills aren't paid
there is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter
the flowers don't have enough water,
there is still only 1 check in my check book,
I can't find the remote,
I can't find my glasses,
and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,
I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all damn day,
and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem,

and I'll try to get some help for it,
but first I'll check my e-mail....

Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!!

boy I'm glad I don't have that!

My mind is still sharp as a tack!

But I did want to share something nice from early this morning.

I have more than a few easter lilies blooming and as I sat enjoying the morning today...it seemed at one point that I could here like an orchestra warming up!

Well I looked out at the easter lilies and there were 2 rabbits thumping their feet to a funky beat...then came the squirrel with the base fiddle. The lilies came alive with a Dixieland Jive and away they all went with "When The Saints Go Marching In!!"

I grabbed a fringed umbrella for Belle and me and we joined the parade weaving thru the yard until a little rabbit that sounded a lot like Louis Armstrong said..."O-ho....yea-heaaaaaa-bibbildy-bop-wa-da.....

and it was all over....what a treat...did anything similar to this happen at ur house on this Cinco de Mayo?

Good Morning Lynn, Tina, Maureen and Michael - Happy Cinco de Mayo to you all.

Lynn - I am getting signs of this. I start filing my receipts and discover something I wanted to make a copy of. Since I have to turn on the computer to use the printer I think I might as well check my e-mail. I find a letter I must answer so I do that. While I am there I had better check the blog. While I am writing on the blog the phone rings etc etc etc. At the end of the day I find my receipts waiting to be put in the filing cabinet. Then again I am 40 years old so I am allowed to be forgetful. Right Dianne?

Tina - I knew you were getting short on blogs so I thought I might as well humiliate myself once more.

Good Michael - You are still a wee young lad. No wonder your mind is still as sharp as a tack. By the way what kind of magic mushrooms are you eating this morning? Are you sharing them in the nest. I will stick around if you are.

We had a lovely time yesterday but my body is paying for it today. I need some of Michael's magic mushrooms to help me with the pain. Enough whining for pity. Jack is bringing me my breakfast and then I will play on my farms until it's time for my nap. I sure can't say I have a hard life. I used to dread the thought of retirement and not having my little kids in my pretty classroom to go to every week day. Boy was I wrong. Retirement is worth the wait.

Tina - You are pretty cute yourself.

LynnD You are looking extra cute today in first. You are up early this fine Saturday. I am up late, just now having my first coffee of the day.

Tina Good morning, Tina. You missed first by only a few minutes but you make a very good looking runner-up.

Tinka I know I have some of those symptoms. No wonder I feel busy during the day and still get very little accomplished.

MO I hope you're having a good day off from work. I only work a little bit now and I still find it to be a pain in the butt.

Michael Is that the woman's mug shot on the left? It seems they are now exaggerating the darkness of her tan. In the picture on the right she looks like beef jerky.

Dianne Thanks for the blog yesterday. I'll never look at a jack o'lantern the same way again.

TINKA: I AM laughing..and..unfortunately..I don't have to wait for my day to come..it's already here! :D

LYNN: Helloooo Gorgeous x 2..both you and Eva! :)

MO: I hope you're feeling better!

MICHAEL: Your garden sounds like Wonderland!! ;D

TINA: So next time do you want a spoiler? I can do that.. ;D

J/LIN: I remember my aunt laying out in the summer sun for hours when I was a kid..her skin..especially her face..was like leather. Where did anyone ever get the idea that that was attractive?

FROM 51:

DI: All I could think of was..McCarver.. ;D

We just got home from Prescott..it was beautiful up there! Scary incident on the way up tho..some dork put a big ol' ladder on top of the rack on their truck and didn't secure it correctly. It flew off on the freeway..going end over end and just missing the windshield of the car behind it..which veered to the left and almost hit the wall. The ladder then skipped and skidded right towards us..as we were next in line..but Rand was able to swerve and miss it too. I called the police..but I don't know if anyone behind us was hit..the driver of the truck was oblivious...

Hello everyone. Tink, I have this disease big time. I am 39 still so I expect it to get even worse as I age.

Hi Lynn---so glad to see u today. Ur granddaughter is growing up so much. Hope u had a good day.

Michael---I'm coming to ur house. What a great way to wake up. I was picturing the whole scenario. I'll bring my own umbrella.

Zona--glad u were able to make the trip to Prescott and that u r home safe. Scary with that ladder.

Tina---u didn't answer my questions from Area 51 please.

JL---u and I sure keep the same hours. We could be roommates.

Mo hi--what r u up to this weekend? Hope u r behaving.

Louis is on the countdown for his surgery. You would think he was going on vacation. He also is happy that he is losing weight. Yup, want to go on a diet let me cook for u!!! By the time this is all over he will be a wisp of a guy. Lol

Just_Lin said...

Zona Well, that was certainly scary! I'm sure glad Randy was able to avoid the ladder. What a hazard!

Dianne Maybe I should come stay at your house. I need a jump-start to weight loss. I keep hanging around on a plateau and I'm getting tired of it.
