something i will have to deal with
i can't shuffle the cards on the deal
they are handed to me and i must
accept them, it is just the way it is
so my brain will work overtime

I do the same thing carol. I dwell on shit that I can't do anything about. What I hate most is when it comes up in my dreams too. I want my night time dreams to be all fun and...well...about sex! But noooo, I just woke up from dreaming about dealing with the idiot at work that I still have to deal with. I can't stand her in life, why the hell should I have to deal with her in my dream world???? Weird dream too. We were doing work stuff and the mailman came in and he was bringing a teddy bear to an agent and he gave me this really cute bear just because, so the idiot goes over stands by the mailman making her stupid small talk and using her stupid fake laugh until the mailman finally says that he thinks he has a boy teddy bear that he can give her. It was not a very cute bear! So what is my problem here folks? Analize that dream!! LOL! I'm going to head back to bed. I don't have to be up for another 1-1/2 hours!

I have a situation I hope some of you can give me some advice on please!
I am trying to come up with all the money I can to go to the Broadway show that Rosie is in, "No, No, Nanette"! I put some DVD's for sale online.
I am selling them pretty cheap..A couple were not even opened lol
SO, here is the issue...I got an email randomly in response to one particular movie....He said that his MOM had cancer and would love to see the movie(GamePlan with the Rock) and wanted to know if I'd donate it! He wanted me to mail it to her also...We started corresponding back and forth and he told me that the American Cancer Society won't even help his Mom due to the fact that she owns her home! WTH?
She needs surgery..She is 49 about to turn 50 he told me. He is 19 and revealed to me that he is autistic.
Okay, I was leary at first until he told me all of these details..He even asked how old my Mom was when she died of leukemia after me revealing that to him in an email!
I am a giver and i want to mail the movie, but think that it could all be fake. I mean I PRAY not!! I hope NOONE would wish all that bad stuff on themselves and a relative just for a movie!
So do I mail him the movie and just hope and pray it's all legit, or do I try to get to speak to the Mom or something.
I figured what would I have to lose..I have been blessed by so many and it would make me feel really good to help them in the simple gesture of giving his mom some entertainment during her illness!

Joey: I can only tell you to go with your heart. If you feel what he is telling you is legit then send the movie. It will make you feel good and would really be a small kindness.
If he is lying well that really is on him. You know the Karma thing.
This is how I approach money problems. When someone asks to borrow money I only loan it if I have it to give. Notice the word give? If I don't get paid back then I don't get bent out of shape and worry about it all the time.
So if you can afford to give the movie then go for it. If it really interferes with your plans and will affect your saving for your trip and you will worry and stew don't. Does that make sense.
If it is an opened DVD why not burn this person a copy and sell the original?? Just a thought. I hope this helps.

Carol, great blog! I am like you, I was up and down all last night worrying and trying to figure something out.
We have a tenant in our rental who has been terrible. She has only paid 1/2 for April and now will be late with May's rent.
She gave us notice that she is moving but wants to wait til her kids are out of school mid-June.
The softie in me says let her stay, then the other side that needs the $$ is saying give her 30 days.
So, it is a dilemma. I want her to think I'm a nice landlord, on the other hand my huz says it's a business, you can't get personally involved. I can't help it, tho.

I get hurt easily, and I always think someone is mad at me, even if I can't for the life of me come up with a reason why. Will I ever change? I wish I could say yes, but in all honesty...probably not. That frustrates me to no end, too.

I have to go in a bit as this is food pickup day for the foodbank. Well I should say food recovery day! The edumacated people of the the foodbanks in our county have decided we should use a three dollar word for food donation from the grocery stores. So it is food recovery!
This drives me crazy I don't know why but it does! It sounds like I am racing off in my ambulance and rubber gloves to resuscitate a head of lettuce in their dumpster.

I cannot be there because of the Vegas plans we made before we knew about it. If anything goes wrong, I will of course cancel. My sister who is a nurse, and lives close by me, will be going to Ohio to be with him, so I will get first hand information. Thank goodness for cell phones and laptops!

It's not like it's some kind of collectible or something. If he was asking for a bunch of dvd's then I would be more careful. And I would end it at the one free dvd. I wouldn't be sending anything else. In fact I would end all correspondence after this. You never know when someone will start asking for money. Are you going to ask them to pay for the postage? And why can't they come up with a couple bucks for a dvd??? You can find a couple bucks just looking in the couch! That reminds me....

Most places not have licencing to do DRY ICE... it is a hazardous material... We cannot ship it from our account # if you have dry ice in the package... So it can be tricky... especially in the summer...

Girlfriend let me tell ya that no one would ever think anything other than good thoughts about you. I just can't imagine anyone ever getting mad at you and if they do then just toss them a bottle of Midol or Xanax and send them on their way.
Stress and anxieties always come out in our dreams. I am one of those types who has always enjoyed caring for other people. When I was 10 years old I can remember putting everyone I loved before my own self. People have let me down as I grow older and disappoint me so now I am content to work with unwanted animals. It brings me trememndous joy. I still enjoy helping people but some people don't want to be helped and I have learned the difference. There are people who thrive on picking on the weak or when people are at an emotional low. I am very particular with my life and I am very picky as to who I allow into my world. I don't want to have their negativity bounce off of me or be used and then have to go through the sad emotions of how that makes me feel.

Carol: great blog today. I used to worry about what people thought and I tried to fix everything and everyone. Now in my 'old' age I have given up trying to fix everything. I am very selective now. I know I can't change people, but I can change how I react to people/things so that is what I have been working on since my husband died. Life is too short to waste time with drama and people who don't have my best interest at heart. And I find that I am nuch happier without the people who caused me so much drama. One of them is even a relative, and while I haven't cut her out of my life completely, I have learned how NOT to buy into her drama. Funny thing, since I don't buy into it, she doesn't try to impose her drama on me as much. I guess I am mellowing in my old age. Ha!!!
P.S. Gas in Sacramento is $3.93 for the lowest grade. YIKES!!!!

I walked into the place and three sales associates were standing there waiting to pounce on someone - They all said "GOOD MORNING" - and I responded - "Good morning, I need to speak to Brian" and this one lady said "Did you "warn" him you were coming?" and I said "Of course NOT!!" - so they directed me to the back.
The cashier said 'Is he expecting you?" - I said "Of course not"
SO - 10 minutes later, Brian immersed from the back room (LOL) - I stood up - Extended my hand and said - "Good Morning, Brian - I am MEK - can we please talk?"
OHHHHHHHHHHH, I was SOOOOOO nice - and - as I started to tell him my story - My voice quivered and my hands shook - BUT - I prevailed -
HE was equally upset as I was that a customer had been treated as I had been - He said that he tries to instill in his sales people to "follow thru" and that obviously that did not happen in my case - cuz I joked that my friends had told me that I should tell them all they could stick the couch were the sun don't shine (laughing and jokely as I said it ) and he said - if that had happened to him - that couch would already be UP someones you know what!!! SO - he took my order sheet and asked me to wait and he would see what the crystal ball could say..
(while he was gone - this one sales guy got in an argument with one of the cashiers about NOT paging him to the desk for a customer - (WELL, I HEARD the frickening page) she said - I paged you and he replied - I must of been on the phone) SO - I will get back to this later...
WELL, when the manager came back - he was MORE upset - CUZ there are THREE in stock and had been since last Wednesday - he shared with the warehouse manager what his delivery people had done to me - SO now HE is not a happy camper - (I just got people ALL over the place in trouble today).. he said noone can explain WHY we did NOT get our delivery on Saturday..
Then the manager asked me "how much of what just happened here, did you witness?" (the sales guy getting mad at the cashier) and I said - The whole thing - so - he shared with me - he said - I JUST told that sales person that if he had LISTENED and followed up - he would not have missed a sale - and told him that he was dealing with another unhappy customer and that he needed to spread the word to his little friends on the floor that if people didn't start CARING about their customers that he would fire the WHOLE lot of them and start from scratch... I said - I didn't want to get my sales person fired - but a follow up phone call would have prevented me from being there talking to the manager today - and he said EXACTLY!!! I was there for an hour and a half... He was SO nice to me and VERY concerned about this whole fiasco...
SO - now - my perfect couch is supposed to be delivered tomorrow and if I have any problems - I am NOT to call the warehouse - I am to call him directly - or he will deliver my couch himself. He tried REALLY hard to get it delivered this afternoon - AND -I got money BACK....... he made sure I was WELL taken care of!!!
SO - I will now go check the old couch and see if Barbara left alot of money in it!! LOL
AND - we'll be able to put our house back together tomorrow.. Our Barney is having a heck of time - he is going blind and we have said that we can't move the furniture, cuz he knows his way around and he has been running into everything - it's not funny - but it is!!

OK, so what did I do? Just completed four hours of surgery to remove two areas of skin cancer! How exciting is that!
It was Moh's microsurgery, and all went well, but the areas are sore now, so I'm not going back into work today and have taken tylenol.
The good news: That means I'm at home and have time for more than just fly-bys!
MEK: I love this place too! And the thing about your couch story that made ME laugh was when you said you introduced yourself to the manager as "MEK"!

Can I take a pet?
My pet is a bird, and it does not like to be in cage, can I just take it on the plane and tie a string to
its leg, so it can sit next to me?
So those were her questions!
When she presented me with the 2nd question I realized something was up. However being in customer service I had to hold by tongue as one never knows...
After the last question, I told her I was to professional to continue this conversation and was going to hang up.
With that she came clean!
I have always told you guys that

Whab glad your surgery went well.
We don't need the money badly, but we use her rent to pay the mortgage for that house.
She has been in there only a few months, never paid on time and always excuses, promises, etc. that have never held up.
She is a single mom with 2 kids, and a live-in boyfriend who she supports, if you can believe that.
She has a good job and makes good money, but with 4 people to support, she has gotten herself into a bleak situation.
We knew her credit was bad but rented to her because I felt bad for her and wanted to help.
I've had so many people tell me that you cannot get personally involved when you rent. But it's hard!
Next time I will let huz deal with credit checks and all that.
It is such a headache, and I would love to sell the house. Unfortunately it is not a good time. Our financial adv. says to hang on to property so we shall see.
Anyway, hope the guy in your condo works out for you.

The doctor that does that here is EXCELLENT and his staff is the BEST!!!

EBJ: When I had a rental I had relatives living in it for the first two years and there was alway an excuse for not paying the rent. When the last one finally nmoved out, I hired a management company to take care of it and it was the best money I ever spent. It wasn't even that expensive, either, considering what I had already lost. Also, BIG lesson learned for me...never rent to relatives or friends.

We were more than happy to stand up and support the students at the GSA on their Day of Silence. I cannot even fathom why that would be an issue for anyone, but apparently I am wrong. I was proud though, that there was more of a presence at the rally to support the students than to be against them... and that Rev. Hutcherson only had about 100 "prayer warriors" instead of 1000, and he had to bus most of them in.
