An Unconditional Love

I’ve never understood the need to have a dog. I never really understood the need to rescue them. I didn’t have a dog growing up. We had cats. Dad brought a puppy home once, but it was way too much trouble and he took it back. When Katrina happened and everyone was displaced and so many people needed a place to live, I was infuriated when I kept receiving unsolicited emails from a co-worker asking for volunteers to take in the dogs that had been displaced. DOGS!!! I thought it was a joke. There were so many PEOPLE who needed help. And don’t get me started on aborted babies. Get people to stop aborting babies and maybe I’ll donate money to Strut Your Mutt. It is unreal to me that we have people that need taking care of and there are those that are worried about animals.

Then Draco happened. I didn’t want a dog, but hubby was sneaky. He got me a cat first. We had all three of our kids by then, so it was four to one. I lost and we got Draco. He was two years old and the twins were four. They fell in love with him. Me……not so much. Everyone told me what a good dog he was and how lucky we were to have him. The kids grew up and Draco got older. My husband and daughter were the most attached to him and he to them. Last August, hubby took Draco to see the vet because something just wasn’t right with him. We were told he had congestive heart failure. We changed his diet and helped him up and down the stairs when needed. Around Thanksgiving he could barely use his back legs and couldn’t control his bowels. I thought he would be gone before the holiday, but he made it through. Hubby and the kids went back to school. One morning shortly after, I was woken up by a phone call. Hubby said that the neighbor called him at work to say that Draco was outside whimpering, laying on the cement in the snow and couldn’t get up. I ran outside and it was the saddest thing I’ve ever seen in my life. My neighbor had to come over to help me get Draco back into the garage. I put a blanket over him and laid with him to warm him up. His legs were all bloody and he was so skinny. I called hubby back and told him that tomorrow was the day. I wasn’t going to have Draco suffer anymore. It was cruel to keep him any longer.

Draco

My daughter stayed up all night with Draco, sleeping off and on in the family room. She had gathered all her pictures of him to make a collage. The next morning, hubby took the boys to school as they did not want to go to the vet. I stayed home from work to be with hubby and my daughter and support them. I had no idea how hard it was going to be. We had to wait so long in the waiting room. It took forever. When we were taken into a room, my daughter decided that she couldn’t stay, so she went to the car. I was torn between staying with my husband and going to take care of my daughter. I’m so glad I stayed. My husband does not cry. That day he cried. He looked up at me with tears in his eyes and said, “I didn’t think it would be this hard.” It was then that I finally realized what Draco truly meant to him.

Life went on and for Christmas I bought two large frames that would hold at least 9-12 pictures…..one for hubby in brown and one for my daughter in white. I filled them with all the pictures I could find of Draco. On Christmas morning, I gave them their gifts and you could see how touched they were….especially hubby. I even had a spot picked out in the family room for his……which is a 180° change for me from before. I would have normally told him to put it in his office.

My daughter’s friend got a boxer puppy and, in the Spring, asked us to dog sit for a week. Watching Boomer was an eye opener. Not so much because of the silly dog himself, but because of how my husband and daughter reacted to him. I saw that we needed another dog in the family. There is a difference between need and want. This was need! I learned two lessons that week. We would be getting another dog and it would not be a puppy!

Tucker

I came home from work one night last week to find Tucker living with us. He is a two year old Boxer. Where Draco had a white face, Tucker has a black one. My daughter is completely in love with him. He has already become very attached to her. I hope we have many years with him. I have to reluctantly admit that he is just a tad cute……but please, don’t tell my family I said that!

So now I understand the need to treat pets as part of the family. I understand the need to rescue pets. I may not become a “dog person”, but I can appreciate the need for them and the unconditional love that they give and receive.

Tina - great blog!!! Very touching, and I loved the pictures of the Beloved pets. I completely understand the need for a dog.

Congrats on first bebbi!

LOL Bon'o! Sorry I had to torture you with that FRED video over in A51.

Tina: I'm so glad you've come to like and appreciate dogs, and now you understand the need for one.

I'm absolutely crazy about animals, and I can't imagine my life without them.

Update on Mom: She is back from her tests and we'll know more later, but she is feeling quite good this morning. No pain at all in her leg now.

Morning Glories!

Yay Bebbi got first!

Hi Hart!

Tina what a wonderful blog. Like you for many years I did not want a dog or a cat or a pet for that matter. I was so busy raising kids and taking care of the family that I just did not want to clean up after one more thing.

I have told the story about our dog Boz and how he wormed his way into my heart. I too now know the need and want for a pet. They do give unconditional love and seem to know that we need it to whether we admit it or not.

We now have three dogs and I love them all. They are as different in personalities as my children but I know they need me as much as I need them.

Congratulations on your new addition may you have many many years with Tucker! They do add so much to our lives!

Good Morning Hooters! Congrats on 1st bebbi and hi hart and glad Mom is not in pain.

tina~ great blog! Boy did you ever speak to me when you talked about not wanting a dog. I always told Mr. Goldie it was kids or a dog. The problem is, the kids grew up, moved, and I had no excuses left.

We got Pepper at 49 days old. I hated every minute of it. I was so jealous of that dog and how she was changing my life. I think jealous of all the love and attention my husband gave her. Of course there was the dog poop, drool, sharp little puppy teeth and all the rest. Who needed that shit??

Well, 4 1/2 years later - she is the daughter I never had (LOL) and I would throw myself in front of a bus for that dog. She is the best, and gives so much unconditional love that I only wish that as a human I had that ability. When her day comes it will truely be a heart wrenching event for both Mr. Goldie and I.

Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Good morning Owls!

Congrats on first Bebbi! A great way to start the week!

Waving a good morning wing at Bebbi, Hartldo, Lynn_d, Goldie, my neighbour lady Tink and all that fly in later!

Hart...glad to read that your Mom is feeling okay this morning. Hope her legs coninue to be pain free.

Tina...what a writer you are! Your blog is beautifully written and so touching. You have been through quite a journey and your lovely Draco was an amazing guide through that journey. I love Tucker's face...he looks so curious and interested and I am so happy for your family that he has come into your lives. I would love to have a dog but living in an apartment and living alone and travelling for a week or so at a time doesn't bode well for pets. I mean, geez, I can barely keep my one sorry little plant alive! But some day when job and living situations change, a dog will definitely be in the picture and I look forward to the kind of loving connection you and your family have with your sweet, fourlegged family members! Thank you for this sweet, loving and touching blog!

Oh, Tina, I so love your blog!

I had a dog named Shotzie while I was growing up.

She was the love of my life.

She use to sleep under my crib every night and she would always go tell my mom when I was up.

She protected me like I was her own puppy.

She died very similiar to Draco.

It was very devasting for us and that was 25 years ago.

Every Christmas I buy my mom something that has a dauchsand on it.

Last year it was a pair of slippers.

We never did get another dog after Shotzie.

I just got back from the neurologist's office and I'm on my way to school.

The doctor said, yup, your optic nerves are swollen.

He is trying to figure out what is putting pressure on them.

So one of the things I have to do is go for a MRI on Thurs. morning to make sure there isn't a tumor putting pressure on them.

I'm sure all that they will find in my brain are mold spores. :)

Have a good day everyone!

TINA!!!!!!!!!!! - I cried all during your journey with Draco while it was happening and I cried again today!! I was so excited to see the pictures of Tucker on your myspace after you got him - and I know he is in a wonderful home!!!

Thank you for sharing today!!

Just to add to my other note - I love ALL my animals like you can't imagine - and I will be SICK when the time comes!! I can't even think about it..

I hope everyone has an excellent day!

Good Morning VIG - I am so glad you are home.

Donna - Good luck with your mom's tests.

Tina - Thinking back to last year and all of our prayers for Draco and your family,
I already thought you were a real dog person. I remember how sad we all were for Draco. It's so hard to lose a pet. There has never been a time in my life when I didn't have a cat or dog or both so I have been down that road more times than I want to think about. I also couldn't imagine my life without pets. That is the one thing that scares me about possibly getting to the point of not being able to live alone in my house. My mom missed her Misty Blue so much when she went into Care. I sat and cried with her. Misty wasn't the kind of cat that one could take for visit so mom never saw her again.
Tina, you wrote a beautiful blog. I know you are going to have years of fun, (and of course the odd torn up shoe,)
with Tucker. My niece has a boxer and they are so playful.
Thanks for writing this blog for us. I am going to go and hug my 'fur babies' for a while before I write anymore.

Good morning/afternoon Bebbi and congrats on 1st!

Good morning/afternoon to Hartldo, Lynn D, Goldie, Tinka, VIG, Mek and Iteach!

Tina you wrote a great blog with such passion and love! I think you all know by now that I am not an animal lover, so I really don't have anything to add to the discussion today. I admire you all for the devotion you give to your animals. It's not hard to tell what a caring bunch of people you are.

Have a good day!

Good Morning Iteach, Mek and Shirley -

Iteach and Mek - I am sorry, it looked like I skipped you but when I scrolled through I didn't see your names. You were before VIG and I should have. So I will say Good Morning to you two again. Does that make up for it???

Tinkatia said...

Iteach - I will keep you in my prayers that the MRI will show it's something very unimportant that is causing your optic nerves to be swollen. Maybe it's because you have worked so hard getting ready for school.

I am going to take my 'fur babies' down to see my mom. I have mentioned before how much the elderly men and women down there love to see Tango and Tia. Their eyes brighten up as soon as we come in the door.
Tango and Tia are my children now that I am an empty nester. I am not ashamed to say that. They fill my life with work but with such joy. Tango is getting older and does not have the best of health. I can't imagine this house without her so I am praying she will live for many, many, more years.

Happy Monday Owls.

Tina, what a touching blog. I was in tears half way through. My Hubby had boxer dogs as a child and he wanted us to get one after our oldest son was born, but it just didn't happen. Finally after we had our third child, we adopted a 2 year old cocker spaniel who had been abused by his former owner.

It took a while for him to trust us, but once he did, it was a love fest for all of us, but especially my youngest son. Dart lived to be 17 and a year after my Hubby died Dart was having serious health problems and we had to take him to the vet for the final time.

The Vet's assistant asked me how I wanted him 'disposed of' and gave us options, one of which was to cremate him and keep his ashes. My son was still grieving for his Dad and was so distraught he asked me if we could do that. How could I say no! So, Todd kept Dart in a special place in his room until he took Dart to college with him.

Now he is married and has another dog, so I am not sure where Dart is.

Tina, I really enjoyed your blog and admire your willingness to get a dog for your family! It sounds like you're a dog person and you just don't know it yet! ;)

Most of you probably know I have two standard poodles and a little maltese that I just adore! I've had dogs my whole life--always small ones so this is my first time with big dogs. I love my giant poodles--they are the best dogs I've ever had. I even blog about them (I know, I'm slightly nuts!). www.doodlepoodles.blogspot.com

I also love what having a dog teaches my kids. It warms my heart to see them helping to take care of them and see the love in their eyes when they hug them!

When we got these poodles, my boys were so mad that we were getting "poodles." But, they now see what great dogs they are--loving, smart and super athletic--and even my oldest macho son says he wants a standard poodle! LOL

Thanks again, Tina! By the way, I recognize Nikki (Zona's dog) but who are the others??

By the way, Bebbi, congrats on first!

TINA - Great blog....damn, pass the tissues. I remember when Draco was having problems, and totally could relate. It's been 3 years since we had to put our black lab Dakota down (she was about a month shy of being 13 years old). Thankfully we were able to take her out to Paul's family's farm, and the vet put her down out there. She is buried in the land that made her the happiest....running and playing free!! Tucker is such a cute addition to your family. I hope you have many years together.

DONNA JO - From area 51......that Fred video cracked me up!!! My kids totally love that kid, so I have seen almost all his videoes. So glad that your Mom is feeling better today. Keeping fingers crossed for good test results. :D

ITEACH - Good luck with your MRI this week. lol @ mold spores!! You're a goof and I luv ya!!

Hi ALL!!

TINA: I loved your blog. It's heart-warming..yet humorous and incredibly honest and real. I could feel the pain you and your family felt in the weeks leading up to the loss of Draco. I experienced this same pain when we lost Remmy. We found him at 6 weeks wondering our apartment complex parking lot and he worked his way into our hearts immediately. He was my baby. We lost him last year at 13 1/2, and I thought I would fall apart. My heart was broken and the emptiness I felt was so complete. Five days later, Mr. Z and my sister went down to the Humane Society and brought home Nikki. At first I thought she'd be the end of me...she was such a crazy nut. But she has settled down and although I must admit I still miss Remmy..that hole in my heart is beginning to close a bit.

The thing about dogs..and cats too, is it doesn't matter how you look. It doesn't matter how you act or sound...they will crawl up next to you and offer to cuddle with you just the same. I don't know how I would live without that.

Tina...I am so glad you got Tucker. Although he will never replace Draco...he will love you and your family every bit as much, just as you will love him.

Once again a great blog from a wonderful writer. Thankyou.

Good Afternoon Owls! I feel so much better after a nice, long nap. Not a cat-nap today; I slept for about 3 hours! Now I hope I sleep tonight.

Jodi: My daughter and some of her friends introduced me to FRED on YouTube. I find him funny too. I think it's because when the girls first showed him to me, they had such glee watching him.

Today's blog reminded me to ask if anyone is watching "The Greatest American Dog" on CBS?

My mom likes my daughter and I to watch one show every season that she's watching so we'll have something to discuss and someone (or, in this case, a dog) to root for. We watch Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, etc. Well, right now it's "The Greatest American Dog". I figured it would be a stupid show but we've actually enjoyed it a lot! Two of my favorites are already gone (the Boston Terrier and the Bulldog) but there is a boxer left. It's so cute, and so is his owner, I might add.

Tina: I forgot to mention that I think Tucker is adorable! I've told you that on MySpace but I forgot here.

Hey Owls, I have an idea....
Let's go together and buy a dog for Shirley! That way she won't have so much time on her hands to make water balloons! :)

Well, I'm heading back to work for my evening shift. Later!!!

GOLDIE: Great to see you..I'm sorry I forgot to leave the light on. :( Nikki drove me bananas the first week we had her...it was one of the first times I had really felt my age!

LYNND: You are so right about dogs knowing just what we need. Rem did and so does Nikki.

VIG: I can't wait til you can get a dog...you have so much love to give.

ITEACH: I am praying mightily for your tests to come out ok. {{HUGS}}

MEK: Congrats on 13! I know how you feel...but try to just enjoy them now and let the future be. :)

TINKA: You helped me so much in getting through the early months after we lost Remmy...and I'll always love you for that and all the kindness you've shown me.

SANDIE: I love your blog...your pups are a trip! :)

SACBARB: I loved your post. Dart is running with Rem and Draco...I know it!

TINA: Is Rem still off the leash?? ;)

JODI: Dakota is running with Rem, Draco and Dart too!!

Goldie, Yes you are right and he's in my heart too.

Hart, I have been watching the Greatest American Dog and I loved the skateboard riding Bull dog too. I like the older man and his dog, now. And I agree, that we really need to distract Shirley from her water balloons and super soaker, but I don't think a dog would do it, given her comment @ 11:34. We need something much more sinister. LOL

Everyone seems to be busy again today. I just got home from visiting mom. As I said before, it makes the residents' day when I bring Tango and Tia. They are beginning to get quite conceited with all that attention.

It took me so long to decide to get a second Bichon. Now I am very happy that I have two. They get more than twice the attention that one gets.

When my kids were little we had toy poodles and I loved them. The children loved them too. Of course we have always had at least one cat and sometimes three to add to the pet mixture.

Before I had Tango and Tia I had big dogs because I was alone and wanted protection. I had Cassie, my black lab, and Chelsea, my Golden Retriever. They were 5 years apart. I had to put Cassie down when she was twelve. It broke my heart because she was such a sweet loving pet. If it wasn't for the fact that I had to keep going for walks with Chelsea, I think I might have just 'taken to my bed'. Then Chelsea got cancer and I lost her the next year. My house is big but without my dogs it seemed like a huge haunted house. I didn't ever want a dog again. I couldn't go through that heart break one more time.

Four months went by and I heard about these Bichon puppies. Tango was meant for me because when I went into their house for the first time, Tango ran across the room and leaped in my arms as if she had been waiting for me. The Breeder said she had never seen that before. It is her favourite story.
I never considered a second dog until Tango turned 9 and I started to worry. If I lost her, I couldn't go out and buy another Bichon. It would be like replacing her and I could never do that. It took me a year to decide that another puppy would help keep Tango young and although I won't entertain the thought of ever losing her, when the time inevitably comes I will have to carry on just like I did with Chelsea.

I think every pet we had when I was growing up was going to be the last one, according to my mom. Somehow, another cat or dog always ended up in our home. I am happy that I have those memories. At Christmas time I get out about 8 stockings with the pets' names on them. I hang them in the teddy bear room because they were all like teddy bears to me, pure warmth and comfort.

A very strange day in my little town again.

Ten were killed and five were Americans.

I need to hit the hay now. Today has been one of those days that your glad when it's over. I'm afraid tomorrow may be a day like that as well. Good night everyone. Keep your eyes on Hartldo, Sandie and Sacbarb! Lol!

Donna - I hope it is cooler for you tomorrow.

Carol, Iteach and Sandie - Thank you for the kind words about my 'fur babies'. I have had a lot and loved each and every one of them from my one pound Teacup Toy Poodle to my 75 pound Golden and all the sizes in between. I think God knew what he was doing when he made dogs. One can't find a more loyal friend, especially not one that can keep your feet as warm on a cold winter night or keep you from feeling frightened on a scary windy night when you hear noises you are sure they are ominous. Your dog will tell you if there is reason to be scared.

Iteach: I am keeping my fingers and toes and leg hair well anything that will cross, crossed for you on the MRI and for hubby teach on the job front. I am so sorry about your friend. It makes me so sad about her daughter. It always hits me hard when I here of a child that age loosing their Mother as I have lived it and I hope that she has lots of family and support growing up! Now I am teary eyed.

Tina: Make friends with the dog! I highly recommend it. Especially the converstions! You can say anything and talk about anything and the dog will always agree with you! It is the best. PS Our Seamus sleeps by my side of the bed at night and he is the perfect sleep partner. Unlike Mr. Lynn D he does not snore! LOL

I have been very touched by all of your posts today. It never ceases to amaze me how much pets add to our lives.

I am so pooped I will check back with everyone in the morning!

Tina - You must have been typing while I was typing and then I got a phone call besides. I just wanted to tell you again how great your blog is. You have no need to feel nervous as you are a fantastic writer. I thought I was the only one who got nervous about her blogs. Everyone else seems so natural at it. I think Carol is turning us all into writers.

It is only 7:30 here but I am going to pretend it is EDT and I am going to bed with the Eastern owls. I love my mother dearly but I am extra tired after spending the day with her. I wouldn't want it any other way, however.

God bless each and every 'fur baby' and its owner tonight. Keep them safe and happy.
See you all tomorrow.
Love, Tinka

Zona-my-Baby - I forgot to say how touching your piece was about Remy. I know how much you loved him and still do. Thank you for saying I helped you through the grieving process. All I did was lend a sympathetic ear. I know what it's like and only someone who has been through it really understands the pain.

I love the picture of Nikki. Wasn't he a star today to be spotlighted on the blog? Do you think Tina will write another blog and spotlight Tango and Tia? They are very jealous.
Call me tomorrow. I am off to bed. Love, Tinka

I forgot to say that my very first pet, our beloved black, toy poodle, who lived to be 14 and broke my heart when she passed . . . was named TINA!

And Tina, she pretended not to be a person dog . . .

Okay, I really am going to bed. 'nite!

Bebbi Congrats on first this morning.

Tina Just like SacBarb, I was in tears half way through your blog. It was really wonderful and extremely well written. It really touched my heart. I'm so glad you have another dog in your home. It just adds more love.

As an adult I've had 2 dobermans and they are excellent family dogs and very smart. I used to have 40 cats but now I'm down to just two old ones, 18 and 17 years old.

I'm very excited as it has worked out that I can go see Custard one day sooner that I thought I could. Woo Hoo! One whole extra day! When you live in different states, every extra minute counts.

Tina, I love your blog!! Dogs add so much joy to our lives!! So happy you have Tucker now, he is beautiful!

iteach, good luck with your MRI, I will be thinking of you.
So tragic about the mom in your community, praying for that little girl and her family.

bon'o, ty for the link on the Argentinian dog!

hart, I am going to check out The Great American Dog!

Sandie, your blog, doodlepoodles, is wonderful!!

Carol, good luck at your appointment tomorrow morning, feel better.

I lost my dauschund in July, 2007, and 2 yrs. before that my other doxie died. I now have a poodle. Whatever type of dog you have it is great how they all give that joy and unconditional love. They are all dogs! It is just so sad that they don't have a longer life expectancy.

I was just on CNN and they keep saying that the group of people died in Guatamala was from Utah?

I know two of them were from my town and two were from Wisconsin.

I'm not sure why they keep saying Utah.

Good Evening...

I have loved reading everyone's pet stories - we all love them unconditionally as they do us!!

it's been overcast and pretty much yucky today - thunder and lots of rain - but we needed that..

Iteach - good luck with your MRI - keep us posted.....

I hope everyone has an excellent Tuesday!!

It sounds like things are starting to shape up for Mr. iteach. I know job will come along soon.

Tink~ you are so cute~ I'll have to think of a blog for Tango and Tia~

iteach~ here is some of one of the articles on KSL.com:

A deadly plane crash in Central America has struck a deep blow to several Utah families and a Utah humanitarian organization. The fiery crash in Guatemala took 11 lives.

The plane was chartered by a Utah-based organization called Choice Humanitarian. Three Utahns died in the crash and one survived.

The plane went down in a field about 60 miles from Guatemala City. Reports from Central America strongly suggest engine failure and an emergency landing that went awry.

Ten died immediately, including two Utahns. A third Utah resident died late last night of cardiac arrest. All were on a humanitarian mission to Guatemalan villages.

Choice Humanitarian of West Jordan, Utah.......

J/L and GM~ thank you~ :D

Sandie~ lol....i don't think I know of another dog, besides me, named Tina~ :)~

iteach said...

Tina now that makes more sense then what I was reading on the other news agencies.

Tina~in_ut said...

iteach~ It's so sad any way you look at it. The rest of the article talks about the survivor from UT and how he called his wife right after it happened and how lucky he is. It says that his family saw him in the news coverage and how scared they were, but grateful that he is alive~

Winding down after a very busy day.

Dianne~~YAY for the "all is well" MS banner update.

Thanks again, Tina, for such a well-written blog. Who could resist Tucker's furrowed brow? Or Nikki's ears? And Scully and Draco, there's a sweet Malamute I know named Sasha searching for you two for a play date, preferably a romp in some Heavenly snow.

Special thoughts to Iteach, Carol and Shirley for tomorrow's appointments.

Sweet dreams to those who've not been resting well, and a good tomorrow to all.

Hi Everyone that is still up or reading in the morning!!

SHIRLEY: How nice of TINA to be lending her twins to you for a few years! I don't think you will ever have another "quiet" day!!

Just wanted to let you all that Tammy went to the surgeon today and had her stitches out and the tests showed nothing..so now we will see how the pain does for her but I do want to thank all of you for the thoughts and prayers. It has been a very long month for all of our family.

TINA: You always do such a nice job when writing blogs...actually, everyone of you do great. I don't have pets and didn't really have any growing up. I have had a couple of dogs with my first husband. I feel like I am somewhat of a dog person as my son has two dogs and my daughter also has two dogs. These last couple of weeks my daughter's dogs and I have bonded!! I don't mind it when I don't have to clean up the poop!

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I'm so happy for you and your family that all Tammy's tests came back negative. (((HUGS)))

Dianne/Denver said...

CAROL: I hope your ear appt goes well for you tomorrow and he fixes it for you.

ITEACH: I am going to be adding you to my prayers for a good result MRI. I am also hoping MRITEACH will be getting a job soon...it sounds like things are looking good.

MEK: How the heck are you doing? Are you missing the Olympics? I watched the DNC tonight.Swimmer Torres is going to be on Leno tonight...after McCain. I don't know if I would be quite as interested if it wasn't in Denver. My son calls me to give me a few highlights but I have to tell him who is speaking each night. I will watch the Republican one next week too. I thought tonight was a pretty interesting night.

SACBARB: I haven't seen the chocolate bacon yet. If I do, maybe I could get a few pounds and send to to EBJ house for the bbq!

Tina~in_ut said...

Dianne~ leave it to you to bring up the poop! :)~ My hubby got my youngest a Pooper Scooper so he'd have fun picking up the doo-doo~ Yeah....he doesn't have fun! :D
So happy that Tammy is on the mend~ I forwarded your email to the appropriate parties~ (mom and deedee) ...and glad you are going home soon....you need to have some chocolate covered bacon~

Bon'o~ thanks and can't you just see all the dogs in a green field in Heaven romping and playing with each other?~ I wonder if there is a blog in Heaven~

J/L~ yay...you get custard early~ I have 12 Georges as my wallpaper on my computer at home (there's a pic of it on myspace under My Pics) :D

Dianne/Denver said...

J/L: Did you have to change your plane ticket for $100 to go a day early? Boy, he had better be worth it! :)

whabbear said...

Welcome back, Goldie!

Tina, that was a fantastic blog!

Hart, good idea... Shirley, would you accept a dog from the owls?

iteach: That is sad. Good luck to Hubby on the job front!

Now I wish I had a dog!

Just_Lin said...

Dianne

United fee to change flight: $150

Travelocity fee to change flight: $30

Increased price of ticket: $40

Spending an extra day with Custard: Priceless

whabbear said...

LOL@J/L! Still, we're going to miss you at the BABB!

Dianne/Denver said...

J/L: That's good to know that the charge is less if you book through Travelocity, I didn't know that. Is it on all their airline bookings?

I am going to bed now. I hope/know you will have a great time. I forgot...where am I supposed to meet you and Custard? I forgot the address!!

Dianne/Denver said...

BEAR: It won't be long until the party begins...How many people are going to the BBQ?

Did you see me on the news tonight? I was the demonstrator with the mask!!

Just_Lin said...

Dianne You misunderstood. Add all those fees up and that's what I am paying extra for that extra day!

Just_Lin said...

Bear Thanks. I wish I could have done both.

Dianne/Denver said...

Whew...I did misunderstand! That is a lot to change a darn flight, isn't it? Well, as you say--an extra day with Custard is priceless!!

Just_Lin said...

Dianne Yes! All totalled, it increased the price of my original fare by 50%. Oh, well. You can't take it with you. Right?

Good Morning Owls!

I had a very good night's sleep and I feel ready to conquer the world today! I think my worries last night were for my mom and the fact that my son and DIL are coming home this weekend and I have nowhere for them to stay, because our basement is still out of commission. Well, a friend is loaning me her "Cadillac of Air Mattresses" so they can sleep there, and my mom is doing just fine. So I slept like a baby. Well, a GOOD baby, that is. :)

iteach: I am thinking of you today. Something good is about to happen for you. I'm sending positive thoughts your way. You will conquer the world with me today!!!!

hartldo said...

LOL @ lynn for crossing her leg hairs! I swear, I could almost braid mine! While in the shower this morning, I thought, "Do I really want to take the time to shave my legs?" No! I want to check the blog! So it's official gang.....I'm addicted!

WOW just_lin! Your cats are 17 & 18! That's amazing!
I forgot to mention that I have 5 cats. Would love to have a dog but the cats would never stand for it. I grew up having dogs and I can always visit my little dog brother at my mom's house. (Buster, the Boston Terrier, who you can see on my MySpace.)
There is a kitten, who has been hanging around here for the past few days. It's feral / wild, so I don't know if we can keep it. It will come eat but then runs off.

Good news about getting to see Custard one day early, J/L!

I, too, am excited about the new season of DWTS! My 10 yr old daughter is thrilled that Cody Linley (from Hannah Montana) is going to be on there.

Watching the highlights from the DNC. Gosh, Mrs. Obama looked beautiful!!!! She's also a wonderful speaker, IMO. Her daughters are so cute too!
