Poker Game

by Zona

Six retired fellows were playing poker in the condo clubhouse when George loses $500 on a single hand, clutches his chest, and drops dead at the table.

Showing respect for their fallen comrade, the other five continue playing, but standing up.

At the end of the game, James looks around and asks, "So, who's gonna' tell his wife?"

They cut the cards. Pete picks the low card and has to carry the news.

They tell him to be discreet, be gentle, don't make a bad situation any worse.

"Discreet? I'm the most discreet person you'll ever meet. Discretion is my middle name. Leave it to me!"

So, Pete goes over to the George's condo and knocks on the door.

The wife answers through the door and asks what he wants?

Pete declares: "Your husband just lost $500 in a poker game and is afraid to come home."

"Tell him to drop dead!" yells the wife.

"I'll go tell him." says Pete.

I guess I'm all gussied up and have my feathers shiny and there is no one here to see them.

Maybe I should go wake up JL. I know Zona is awake. Tina is not even moaning this morning. Yup no splats from Shirley, no BAMS from Michael and no kerplunks fron Mo. I think I'll shake Barbs tree----hoot hoot hellooooo. Yahoo Jodi r u there?

Maybe I'll just go back to sleep----no I think I will find someone and go to lunch.

Btw nothing new from Denver. Louis is about the same and my shingles r getting better. Our weather has been really nice in the 80's. I wish I had Zonas pool to hop into some afternoons.

Ok well it's pretty fun talking to myself so I think I will sign off for now. Have agood day.

Dianne You are absolutely gorgeous this morning at firsr. I'm sorry I wasn't here earlier to say hello but I did sleep in. I finally slept all night without waking up repeatedly to change positions because of an ache in my hip. I actually remembered to take some Tylenol before going to bed and that seems to have made all the difference.

I'm glad your shingles is getting better. Did you find someone to go to lunch with?

Has anyone heard of an Australian tv series called McCloud's Daughters?

I have been watching the series when I found it at the library. It is really good. Such pretty scenery and lots of Australian eye candy! Google image Aaron Jeffrey and Myles Pollard. Yummy!

Dianne I'm glad you had a nice time and tasty lunch with your friend. Still keeping Louis and you in my prayers. Hope you both are improving every day.

MO I've never heard of that series. I'm glad you're enjoying it.

My left hip has been bothersome for years. It's starts aching when I walk very far and I have to stop for a few seconds to let it calm down. I get sciatica on that side. Maybe it's all related. I think I have two problems really: arthritis in my hip and sciatica from a not-so-good back.

Zona Thanks for reminding me. I have to put the Tylenol out on the counter now so I will remember to take it before bed.
