No that is not “D”, but I have your attention don’t I? LOL I am talking about Vitamin D. You might look as sexy as this if you are getting enough D.
Last year when I went for my yearly exam my Doctor asked me if I was taking Vitamin D. I said no. She informed me that she recommends all of her patients take 1,000 to 1,500 IU a day. Now I had a basic understanding about Vitamin D but really did not know much about it. She informed me that many people are Vitamin D deficient and that was her new policy for her patients.
Well about a month after I saw her I was at the grocery store and thought what the heck and bought a bottle of 1,000 IU Vitamin D. Started taking it. Really did not think there was much of a difference until about Christmas time. All of sudden just before Christmas I was feeling run down, nervous and depressed. At first I thought it was just stress. Then I started to think about it and realized I had run out of Vitamin D and had not taken any in about a week. I wondered could this be the reason? Well I hit the store and picked up another bottle and started taking it again. Within a few days I was calmer and felt more grounded and the depression had lifted. Well it does not have to take a brick to wake me up. It was the difference. I have since upped my daily dose to 2,000 IU’s a day.
I also started to notice several articles and TV shows were featuring information about Vitamin D. Did you know that they believe about 80 percent of Americans are Vitamin D deficient? Yes I said 80 percent. Even in the sunshine states like Arizona and Florida. What they find is that many people stay inside and with the advent of sunscreen many of us are not getting our daily natural dose of D. Those of us who live north in colder climates really miss out in our winter months.
Our bodies are designed to get our daily dose by being in the good old sunshine for about 20 minutes a day. It has been recorded that when this happens our bodies produce as much as 10,000 IU’s naturally. What our bodies don’t use is then naturally flushed out of our system.
Vitamin D helps our nervous system, helps to absorb calcium and new studies are showing that it may even help prevent different types of Cancer.
Two weeks ago I happened to have the TV on and it was showing Doctor Oz. Normally I don’t watch this show but the lead in was about Vitamin D and Epstein Barr disease. You know the kissing disease, Mono. Well the lead researcher in the country was on and she was explaining how people are affected by Epstein Barr. Most people might have a case of mono and our bodies fight off eventually. Then there are the people that get mono and then they remain sick. The gist of the show was about how the virus creates rogue white cells that the body can’t fight and in some cases they are mutated and take over. These people end up with a lifetime of Epstein Barr. It is a terrible debilitating disease. What they are finding is a link between Epstein Barr and a Vitamin D deficiency. The woman researcher stated that they are even looking at upgrading Vitamin D from the vitamin category to a hormone. Most vitamins we ingest through food and drink, our bodies don’t produce them on their own. Vitamin D is actually produced by our bodies with the advent of Sunshine. Therefore a hormone not a vitamin. Interesting huh?
I keep wondering if this could be the medical equivalent of aspirin a simple new discovery that can help so many. I know it is helping me tremendously.
You can find out if you are vitamin D deficient through a simple blood test that your Doctor can order. I will let you know that I have three friends and two relatives who have just been diagnosed as severely vitamin D deficient. In two of those cases they have been prescribed 50,000 IU’s of Vitamin D every 3 days. Your doctor has to write a prescription for vitamin D in this large of a dose. What that means is that there is basically no vitamin D in this persons system. Not Good at All!
My suggestion if you are feeling depressed, stressed fatigued you might consider checking your Vitamin D levels. I hope this helps someone just by imparting some of the information, because I don’t go a day without my “D”.

and that would be another BAM!!
I'm pretty darn sure we've lost DeeDee on the front page...she's prolly BAMing! that guy~ ijs~
omg! I was reading about vitamin D not to long ago! I mentioned it to my doctor and had a test to see of I was deficient. I was not...but I told him that he had better start keeping up with this stuff as I may not always be as informed as I was that day....and that since I am coming into the home stretch at my age and I want all the "goodies"......and that it is his job to see that I have options....
"And doctor... who is going to keep you up on the latest developments after I am gone!?"
Excellent information Lynn D....your blog piece is SO good now I am embarrassed about mine tomorrow.....I think I'll cancel it....
and btw Lynn D.....sorry about the "stump" I sent you"...lq
Well I have just had all the vitamins sucked out of me!!
ROFLMAO!!!!
TINA!! Love the clover pasties......
I hope I get a strong bloody Mary with my breakfast this morning!!!
That guy on the front does remind me of one fine man-whore that i rented in Miami for a night of unbridled ecstasy....we did....
ok...thats it...I cannot write with Gypsy Rose Tina and her huge perkies starring at me......
Good morning DeeDee, Tina! You're both so pretty today. Just passing through... Busy day today. Have a wonderful day, Hooters!

Deedee is on a roll! Bammed us all again! lol
Good Lord Tina! Eunice is frightening! Put those melons away they are poking me in the eye.
Hope you all enjoy the blog today and there is some useful information that will help someone. That was my intent.
I have to rush out of here this morning busy day ahead. I will check back later in the day.
Muwaaaah!
Bonachichi I hope you are feeling better soon!!!

I don't do D, but I would surely do him!..
Oh yea!
Lynn..
When I had my blood test results last week, I was told I don't have enough Vit D.. so she rec a Vit, I have not picked it up yet, but I will..
I guess I will not know the difference in me, until I start taking it.. I will def keep you posted..

cracked me up!
Off to work I go..
Waving to all above and all below..
:O)
Bonachichi!!
My God I heard that you were hit by a train and that one of your hind legs is injured!!
I am so sorry if this is the case...SCARY!!
I guess my question is this....
Does this preclude you from sending me my orange trees in Island paradise?
And if so....could you explain that in the form of a song?
No biggie....I am just in the mood for some original music....
and could you go ahead and do that....like now is a good time....of course the delivery of an orange tree to my island from you trumps this request.....
and after you do everything I ask you take care honey!!
DeeDee,I see you are the prettiest this morning! lol @ keeping your Dr. "informed"
LynnD,I have read about the "D" factor. I do know that I was in the sun a lot last week in Florida and feeling great! This week I am feeling dragged down. I will pick some "D" up after my luncheon today.
Tina's ta tas are blinding me!
I will need proof of their existence. I will let you all know after the Chi town visit ;-)
Bonachi, I hope you are feeling better today. Keep us updated.
Carol, yes Tina is a bit flashy this morning. Might be a little overly optimistic on the ta tas, ijs
Gottah run, lunch with my ex-co workers bbl
Happy Wednesday Owls.
Lynn, My doctor made the Vit D recommendation to me last Spring after my blood test showed a deficiency. I have been taking it ever since and a subsequent blood test showed normal levels. She said it should help with my fibro pain, however I haven't noticed that much of a difference. I'm glad it has helped you.
BTW, how did the fund raiser go yesterday?
Hello Ms. Dee. You are very pretty this morning. LOL @ Tina's huge perkies. They are certainly that!
Tina, I am shocked! As Carol said, it is Lent. How could you expose yourself like that? You are going to give the priest a rise when you confess this. Shocking, just shocking!!!!
Bonachichi, I hope you are on the mend from your van vs pedestrian mishap.
Mary, Have fun with your ex-coworkers. I still meet with my former staff for birthdays after 9 years of retirement.
Carol, I hope you have a less stressful day today. It's good to be busy, but then you don't get much rest. Is your business partner still sick?
Good afternoon - Thank you for your info on vit D today LYNN. A friend of mine had recommended it a while back and I picked some up , but just haven't started it yet......I will for sure now.I had mono in my twenties and have had trouble with depression for years.
DEEDEE - LOL @ your conversation with your doctor.
TINA - Is this what happens when you can't swear?
MARY - Have a terrific time with your coworkers today.
Hello - CAROL, BARB, BONACHI and ALL who arrive later.
Hi Everyone,,,
LYNN: I was diagnosed a couple of years of ago of not having enough Vit D so have to take a prescription. My husband was also low but he is able to take a supplement. I don't know if I really feel any different but I take it just the same. My daughter that was diagnosed with Lupus this past year also has to take it every week. Thanks for the information.....and the cute picture.
I went shopping and to dr appts today..two doctors and two stores. I for once was able to find some clothes and I was able to get a size smaller...very exciting!!! I am going to meet a cousin tonight for dinner to go over her wedding guest list. I am the old one in the family (actually the matriarch now) that keeps up with everyone and also their addresses, phone numbers, etc.
TINA: It's starting to snow now...you didn't tell me we were getting this today.
DEEDEE; Congrats on number one again...remember the bylaws...you can't be first on your own blog...just fyi for the future. I wouldn't want you to end up on the naughty mat...hmmmm, have you even been on it? I don't think so although that's not to say you didn't belong on it...you just didn't get caught.
MO; How is the weather your way? ARe you being sweet on all those calls?
DeeDee: Congrats on first.
LynnD: That is so interesting about Vitamin D. I didn't know that and I am going to look at my daily vitamins to see how much D I am getting. I take Flaxseed oil, calcium, b vitamins, iron, glucosamine/chrondrotin and a daily vitamin. I will have to look into the Vitamin D.
Carol (from Area 51)..I got up and went, did 55 minutes on the elliptical and went again at lunch for 50 more minutes! Yay! Now, I have 18,470 steps..but I am going to have to go to bed at 7:30..haha. Have to get up and do it again tomorrow.
The last time I went in the morning was when I slipped and fell, so I guess I am finally over that little developing phobia.
Bonachichi: I don't know what happened..I will go back and see if I can find a post about it. If you were in an accident, I hope you are doing okay.
Contrary to DeeDee's claim that I've been run over by a train (I wouldn't be blogging now, would I?) I will fill you all in on what happened.
I was walking in a bank parking lot. We have armed guards at the entrance to our banks, and he saw the whole thing.
I looked to see if any cars were coming, and a van gunned it in reverse. I had just enough time to put my arm up (like that would protect me), which broke my arm.
Because of the speed of the van, I was thrown across the parking lot (not far, but far enough), and before going "splat" on the concrete, I managed to break the lower part of my leg. I call that body part an ankle, but what do I know.
I've had some stitches in my head and a nice rasberry on my face, plus two casts. Have you ever tried to use crutches with only one arm?
I had to hire a driver to get me to all my clients today; I left around 8-9 and have just returned (4:30 my time). I can't take painkillers on the job because I need to think clearly. Needless to say, I just took something called Norco and my doc has promised to stop by after he's done for the day to give me something stronger via a shot.
Any questions? I'll be happy to answer, but depending on the whether I'm coherent (I know, not a normal state for me under any circumstance), I'll do my best to clarify anything I may have left out.
Thanks for the well wishes, especially since I really didn't go into detail before. You guys are great (that's the Norco talking, btw).
P.S. Vitamin D is wonderful, but being a SoCal girl, I've got a skin cancer growth on my shoulder from too much of that beautiful CA sunshine. Sunscreen. If I'd known then what I know now, I'd have used tan-in-a-can.
Evening Owls!
I just got home a little while ago and I am dead dog tired. Very long day.
I would say I am amazed about so many of you being diagnosed with Vitamin D deficiencies but from what I am reading it is all to common.
I am going to go hit my farm and then go to bed. I could barely keep my eyes open.
Oh Barb the fundraiser was fine. Not as much money as last year but they are doing road construction right at the exit so we figure people weren't sure the rest stop was open.
Tina/Eunice is just showing off for D.
Haven't read the comments yet, but I was wondering if I could just ingest some of that hunka hunka burning love to get my fill of Vitamin D????? Yummmmmmy!
Bonachichi.....
I would like to offer my services by representing you in a personal injury lawsuit....
Was the driver a person of means...were they insured and are they scared?
In all seriousness that is a horrifying thing and I am so sorry it happened to you...you could have been killed...
Now lets nail the bastard to the wall!
and hey....I'll give you a few more days on those orange trees.....no thanks necessary...you just take it easy....
CHI CHI...no offense intended, but it sure seems you are accident prone. I would consider not leaving the house again! Have all your clients come to you, hire a personal shopper and have the MR do the errands!
LYNN...Thanks for the good info. I am going to buy some D. But, I am kinda torn...depression has become my closest friend...what will I do without it????? LOL!
JODI...my deepest condolences to you and your family. Grandma is def an angel and will be watching over you forever. {{{HUGS}}}
Bonachichi~ Are you sure you aren't doing this for attention? :)~
Jodi~ My prayers are with you and your family~ Grandma will be celebrating ur birthday in Heaven~ :D
ya know, Hodi~ somehow...that avatar was just wrong with that post~ Here's a better one~ :)~
Hello Ladies!!
I'm hoping to get caught up on blogs.
Bebbi, I just noticed yours and I feel awful that I'm just now checking in! Please don't take my poo goddess tiara away! I will respond with my two cents real soon.
Don't take it personal, because all my crops are withering away. I'm hoping to get caught up soon!
JENNIFER...has Dean heard anything more about his company leaving town? I hope they are staying
I'm trying to grade papers, farm, blog, and clean all at once!!
Jodi, I'm soooooo sorry about your grandma. :(
Mo- Dean doesn't find anything out until March 22nd. Therefore, we are already looking for jobs. In fact he has a job interview on Friday.
I have never had a Vitamin D test done. I will have to check that out in Sept. when I go for my big 4-0 examine.
Bebbi- That whole bathroom buisness is a very tricky thing.
On way hand you have children who do require to use the bathroom a lot due to weak bladders and etc..
Then on the other hand you have the ones who love to "play " in the bathroom. Stuff rolls of toliet paper down the toliet or splash water all over the floor. Some like to escape to the bathroom, because school work is hard.
JODI: I'm so sorry to hear about your grandma. I know how it hurts..but try to think of the reunions she had in Heaven. They had to be filled with so much love and happiness. She will be your angel now, watching over you every day. I will be praying for strength and comfort for you and your family. {{Hugs}}
I will admit it has happened to me as a teacher that children have peed in my classroom. Some have been to shy to ask me, because it was during test time. I think in 17 years it has happened in my room 4 times.
Jennifer~ I am VERY proud of you! It takes a confident woman to stand up in front of a blog and admit you pee ur pants in class~ :D
LYNN: When I first saw your blog this evening, I thought "Who's D..and should I admit to doing him?" ;)
I was doing really good last summer, taking vitamins every day, swimming..generally really taking care of myself. But I've been slacking off lately..and I feel the difference big time. I live in a state where it is sunny most of the time..so I just assumed that I had enough Vitamin D. When I get my blood work done next month..I'll ask my doctor to add the test to find out if I need more than the sun is providing. I mean..it's all the same blood draw anyway..might as well check it. Thanks LYNN for bringing this to our attention!
Tina, that was nice of you to cover your Ta Tas.
Jennifer, I seem to get more done multitasking. Best of luck on Dean's job search.
Jodi, I feel bad for your loss, but I know how sad it has been for you to see her the way she was. Prayers to you and all that loved her.
Tina, you are so baaaaad!!!
you guys totally crack me up!
Anywho on a serious note..
Jodi.. sorry about your grandmother, she is certainly at peace, my thoughts are with you and your family.
Bonacci.. oh my, that is awful, I have no words.. except Ouch! I hope you got the driver that was responsible for this.. but I do have a question, why does your bank have armed guards?
Feel Better..
Tina..
so nice of you to cover your self up in the green of the irish!
:O)
DEEDEE: Congrats on BAM..the new FIRST! LOL @ Gypsy Rose TINA..I was thinking TINA aka Fifi la Ru.. :D
TINA: Now Eunice looks like Judy Garland! btw..it's Wednesday..do you have gas? ;)
BONACHI: Ouch! I know that's an understatement..I hope you heal quickly!
SACBARB: And how are you feeling today?
DIANNE: Congrats on the size smaller!
JENNIFER: I'll be praying that Dean's job is safe.
MO: Now I'm wondering what the D in Vitamin D stands for.. ;)
CAROL: I'm writing it..didn't forget..just had an off couple of days. :)
BEBBI: What is flaxseed oil for?
Hi MARY! Hi LANI!
I'm off to check FB..Mr Z actually harvested one of my farms tonight..lol..goof..
Zona..
no worries, i have had several "off"
days..
:O)
Mo..
Did you read the any news blogs today. It seems the academy has apologized to Farrah's family for not including her, however they felt she was more of a TV icon then a Movie star, and felt she should be memorialized on the Emmy's.. and the reason they included Michael Jackson, was because of the documentary he was making, and they knew if they did not include him, there would have been a lot of backlash..
Personally.. this makes no sense to me..
I think they totally got it wrong!
Zona...
D in Vit D, stands for Delishisness!
Just as the pic states..
:O)
Another child star has passed.. It must be so hard for some of these kids to find a place in this world, after being in the limelight..
so very sad...
Hi Zona!Mr Mary won't go near my farms ir Island. H walks by and just shakes his head lol!
Hi Carol!!
Carol, I saw that on tv tonight. I guess he has had a lot of trouble with drugs, so sad!
OMG, You guys have got to see Jessica Simpson on Letterman! It's not that she has gotten super chunky, but that she wore a red dress that makes her look even bigger! Her hair is darker too.
That was my delete, ladies. For any of you who saw it you'll know that I was overly sensitive and I took it out on poor Tina. I wish I could blame the morphine shot I had earlier, but really, it was completely uncalled for. I only hope Tina can forgive... it's been a rough few days and I've tried to have a good attitude, but I failed and hurt someone I care about deeply.
oh oh oh....who did you hurt? :D
Happy Birthday Jodi~ here's a kiss and a hug and a %&*^(*&*$% (lent, you know!) :D
Thank you for all your kinds words. Grandma is at peace and pain free now.
TINA - I just about fell off my chair....changing your profile pic. Truly made me LMBO!!!
Tina you are a big goof!!!! :)
Jodi: Sorry to hear about your Grandma.
Jennifer: No worries! I figured things were busy for you. Believe me, I am the QUEEN of MIA, so I could never hold it against anybody else.
Bonachichi: I certainly hope you are feeling better. I am sorry that your pain meds are making you a little "hard" on people. They do that to me too. I am sure that Tina loves ya and knows that whatever you said wasn't intentionally meant to hurt. We all get a little bruised here occasionally, but so long as we hang in there, we get better. Are you coming to Chicago? I sure hope so. I would very much love to meet you.
DeeDee: Are you coming to Chicago?
Okay..I am at work so I have to go. I just came on because Jennifer sent me a FB message and I saw it on my phone and wanted to see her wise words regarding my blog. :) bbl dudes.
