Yesterday, I read that The Jay Leno Show is being canceled as of Feb 12. I am really not a fan of Jay, so the cancellation of his show does not bother me in the least.
I ran across this clip which had me LMAO. I think it sums it up nicely, as only Conan can do.

I went to Huntsville Saturday to see my other friends son in prison. They have a new Lieutenant and she and I butted heads for a few minutes until she got a headache....lol ....too much head rotating and finger movement I think!
She thought I was be a little to friendly with all the inmates rather than just the one I was visiting.....Hell I say Hi to everyone and their visitors. When I left this time I hollered Happy New Year! to everyone and they hollered back.....The Lieutenant just stared at me.....but I try to make everyone feel good and leave them all with a smile.....
If doing that is wrong the "I DON"T WANT TO BE RIGHT!!" lol

Leno is funny in a slapstick sort of way. Not witty, just funny when he hits a good joke.
Conan & Ferguson are funny in a ridiculous sort of way. They're witty and quick on their feet. They appeal to a "younger" demographic.
Letterman has that Carson persona going for him. I don't watch him because I can't stand Paul Schaeffer. I hate to be mean spirited (not really), but give that man a hat or something. He looks like a bowling ball with sunglasses.
I agree with Lynn....I haven't been able to get interested in Conans shows....I don't like looking at him for one thing.....
Jay Leno seems real down to earth...no scandals....a nice wife...and he is a class act......
Craig Ferguson is marvelous though....so handsome and funny...and his accent is so nice....
David Letterman has had his moments but overall I think he is a jerk....and Paul Schaffer is gross.
Did I mention that I think a man in a modern Scottish kilt worn with formal evening wear looks so great.I love it. And it is a fact that the military prohibits underwear and a true Scotsman wears nothing under his kilt anyway.

I respect that so many of you don't like Conan. My initial reaction was, "who would let THAT on TV?" But he grows on you. I really came to respect him during the WGA strike. He's not just a pretty face.

I would agree Conan is prolly pissed, but the ratings don't lie and he is losing ratings since day one. Leno consistantly beat Letterman and I would venture to guess that if they do move Leno back to 11:35 Letterman will feel it. I feel real bad for Fallon. He has actually gotten better and I have started to enjoy him. Maybe Conan should go to FOX!

I wish they could just put Leno back in charge of The Tonight Show. I can't imagine what he's going to do with only a 30 minute show.....a monologue and Headline News? We love our veteran performers and we want them in the venue that we are used to seeing them, i.e., Leno should be behind a desk as he was before, imho.

Carol, I think I blogged about this once... We had a friend who was so far gone on drugs and booze, we were sure he'd kill himself. We did call the authorities and had him put on a 5150 hold, which means he had to go to a psych ward for 48 hours, I think.
Then it was changed to a 5153 hold, which forced him to stay longer. We found a good rehab clinic in Pasadena (not the Dr. Drew one) and he stayed there for 3 months. Then he went to a sober living facility.
That was almost 2 years ago and he's been clean ever since. I had no hope for him. But he proved me wrong. He hated us for a long time, but now he's convinced that we saved his life. It broke my heart to see his eyes when we told him he was going to the looney bin, but I do believe that intervention saved his life. We initiated the intervention, but it was him, his will and the professionals who saved him. Someone's gotta be the asshole sometimes.

I know in my heart Rehab will help him, its getting him there.. we are working on the details now.. I am not the only one helping him, his wife, my mother, other cousins are all pitching in.. I know a intervention is the best way.. we are trying..

I just have to say it. I know it's late and few will see this, but Lin, you have a point about addicts doing anything to get their drugs. I don't think it's a sign of a bad person or an untrustworthy person, though. Just a sick person.
I quit Mountain Dew (aka, caffeine) recently and let me tell you. Sweet Jesus, it got a whole lot worse before it got better. Mr. B took my cash, credit cards, car keys and cell phone. He was right to do it. I'd have done anything for a caffeine fix. I was supervised whilst online, lest I find a cyber-buddy to bring me some Dew. I was ashamed, embarassed, miserable and angry.
It was also humiliating. I am sure caffeine addiction is similar to other addictions. I'd not have quit by choice. Now though, knowing how bad it'll be to quit again, I am terrified that I'll ingest some amount that will hook me again. I won't willingly suffer the hell of caffeine detox again.
Yep. A real live addict here. Since it's caffeine, I don't get that official "addict" stamp, so it's more comfortable for others to ask questions and for me to answer them honestly.
So yes, Lin. If Cuz follows Standard Operating Procedure for addicts, he'll do anything to get his fix. Not because he's bad, but because he's sick.
Bonach I'm very aware that what you say is true. I am not saying the cousin is a bad person and I hope it didn't come across that way. It's just that addicts and alcoholics come up with lots of excuses and reasons to not really deal with their problem or completely deny there is a problem at all. You are very right. It is a sickness and a very serious one. I quit a 2 1/2 pack a day smoking habit in 2006 so I know it is not easy to get out from under an addiction.
Late post... CAROL, I agree that everything should have just been left alone with late night. I personally think the reason Leno hasn't gone over is because of the time change. We watched him every night but don't now that he is on early. I record it and sometimes we watch it at the "regular" time he used to be on....plus some of the things they added ..like 10 to 10 is not very funny. I loved his old show.
I feel bad for all the staff that came with Conan. They sure don't have the money to move all around like the stars do and they have to move completely cross country. Their jokes on all the networks are pretty funny tonight.
Ok, going to bed...have been talking to SHIRLEY on FB as she is awake and has to go to work in three hours. She has a mouse and it is creeping her out and I don't blame her one bit!!!
I don't watch late night TV so it really doesn't matter to me. Although if I had to choose it would be Jay. I can't stand Conan.
