Sometimes I make silly videos for DeeDee~ This was going to be one of them. My sister and daughter and I went to the mall on New Years Eve day. Across the freeway is TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network). I thought it would make a great video for DeeDee when it was all lit up.....we had joked about it before. I told my sister that she would need to drive me back that evening. (You have to keep telling her stuff like that so by the 87th time, she will be so browbeaten, that she'll just agree to take you!) So....between Shirley's New Year and Carol's, sis drove me over. I was just going to film it from the mall parking lot and make whitty comments, but the dang gate to the place was open, and low and behold, you can drive thru....like a mini tour~ It was kinda like being at Disneyland with all the lights.....but instead of Mickey, Jesus was everywhere! I kept thinking about all the poor that could be fed with the money from their light bill. It was kinda "over the top" to me. Here's a picture for those who can't watch the video:

DeeDee: I live right near a "Six Flags Over Jesus"...you DO NOT want to have to go somewhere when they are holding a mass...good night, the traffic is HORRIBLE. And the stupid "rent-a-cops" hold everyone hostage.

I am not even going to get started on this place or these people other to mention a couple of things about them....
I saw an article the other day titled "Snakes on a Plane"....it was about these televangelists and their private jets....they were each listed with a picture of their jet or jets and the cost of the planes.....
And that Jan Crouch.....the one with the pink wiglets piled as high as a Vegas showgirls headdress and as long as she please's.....just makes me wrench.
That Christmas display is typical of someone like her....who obviously thinks more and more and more is better. I don't give a rats ass what they do personally but the estimated $100 million a year in donations that they take in annually...which is their operating capital....which comes from little old ladies on fixed incomes....makes me mad as hell.
They are leeches on society and need to be scraped off! I read that for a $200 donation that Jan would send you her industrial strength eye make up tips along with her very own "poofy hair gel".....
In the Christian game....these are not men of God imho....they are into "self glorification" which would fall under the heading of
"DEVIL!!"
I think in many ways I am naive...my mind simply doesn't work in bad ways....if my friends didn't keep me up to speed on deviant behavior I would be lost.......therefore I have always pretty much trusted people at their word and it is hard for me to imagine that there are people out there waiting to do whatever they can....rather than the conventional things like work.....to make a fast buck.......
even if it is other peoples money that they have lied in the name of God to get....

Tina I agree with you more than once this morning! LOL You are the prettiest on the blog today and yes I think that was way excessive in the video.
Deedee I couldn't agree with you more! I was watching that and my blood was boiling and sadness was creeping in.
It just kills me, I was thinking 1) I did not know what the hell Trinity broadcasting was but could guess. 2) Look folks this is where your hard earned money gets spent when you give to these jerks! IMHO
Tina yes, just think how many poor could be fed or medical could be covered to help heal those that are sick and in desperate need. It never ceases to amaze me how people will hand the money over and glorify these Aholes.
I also have been pondering what Jesus would think if he came back at Christmas and saw all of this craziness. I keep thinking he would look around and question, Is this really celebrating my birth and what I am really about? I believe he would be sad that so many have truly missed the message he originally intended.
I take comfort in the message about bearing false witness Deedee. Their time will come when they have to face the music and they WILL be judged more harshly.
Ministry - to serve.
Who are these people serving? Lear, Boeing, Maybelline?
Shouldn't a ministry serve the needs of the people before themselves?
Does having over the top decorations feed the hungry parishoners? Does it clothe the needy? Shelter the homeless?
What the hell do I know?

Many people don't know who or what the Trinity Broadcasting Network is unless you were flipping channels and happened to see the lady with the pink bouffant hair screaming praise the Lord.....but everyone will know who they are when they fall....lol...when they catch Jan Crouch doing the donkey shows in Tijuana or her husband in the arms of another Godly man.....
I won't invest my money in anything they or others like them are involved in.....and of course my $10 doesn't make any difference...its just the principle....I don't do business with known crooks and liars. The Trinity Broadcasting umbrella covers an ever growing list of subsidiaries with different names for that very reason and its hard to keep up.....they are highly diversified.....I have an old friend who is something of a investment guru and he says....let them launder their ill gotten gains elsewhere.....

We're the modern bogeymen of the Christian right movement... as they exhort their followers to send money to support their efforts to save the world from the scourge of the homosexual.

Today is the 10th anniversary of the day Dad dies. It doesn't seem that long ago. I sit here wondering if next year mum will be gone too. I miss you Dad.
Today Mother Nature has decided to throw a weather bomb at us here in Atlantic Canada. Which means a shitload of snow followed by a shitload of rain, all conbined with a shitload of heavy winds causing storm surges. Looks like it's going to be a shitty day!
TINA: I don't think TBN actually knows what 'over the top' means. Nor do they understand that they should help feed and house people..not make a spectacle of the company headquarters. I was flipping through the channels once and saw Jan Crouch giving a tour of her and her husband's huge horse property in Texas..she was driving a new BMW convertible with two white German shepherds in the backseat. She kept saying that the land belonged to all that donated to TBN..really?..I'd like to see what happened if one of their viewers decided to come stay for the weekend!
Paul and Jan Crouch just don't get it..they have removed themselves from everyday reality and live in a world of their own where they have convinced themselves that they can do no wrong. Their day will come.

Tina~not_cheaqting_in_Cali This looks like something you'd find on the Vegas strip! I love how they did their palm trees. LOL I went through a walk-thru Living Nativity once that was really neat. Everyone was in theater-grade costumes and they had Roman soldiers on horseback, camels, goats and sheep with shepherds, a market place depicting life in those times, etc, and it ended at the vision of the nativity with a living 'angel' perched high above with huge wings. There were also angels on roof tops across the street. It was really pretty neat and inspiring.

Zona Waving wildly at you! I need to run errands today, too. When I was Xmas shopping at Kohl's, they gave me a coupon good for $30 to use on anything there but I have to use it by today. It was be silly not to, right? It would be like throwing away money.
OMG!!! It just keeps snowing and snowing and snowing!!! My excessive fear of falling may keep me in my apartment untill June!! Did I tell you I hate the color white? Well I do!

But I think they are the scourge we need protection from.......

Tina, after the Jim & Tammy Baker fiasco, I would think people would have smartened up on the donation thing. I know this is the extreme, but on the other end there are a lot of religious/non religious groups fighting for every penny to just stay afloat, and do their best to help the needy. My Father was a Minister. He put back every cent he was given to the migrants and needy church members. It is sad to think that if my Mother was alive she might have been taken in by the Trinity leeches. How many are out there sending in money that they need themselves! Where are the people that outed the Bakers??

Amen Mary~ At church tonight, Msgr was telling us how much we collected for Sr Angela's Fund (to feed the poor) and the Christmas Collection (to run the church) and the families that we help at Christmas. Then he was asking for help for Catholic Community Services for all the work they do. There are so many worthy causes out there and TBN is asking for money for what? Their "ministry"? What exactly is that?

Boy, that is some video. TINA, thanks so much for pointing out Jesus in the manger to me. I was just thinking it when your little blurb came up.
I wonder if the people that contribute to this place mind that so much of the money is going to the electric bill. I guess volunteers must put up and take down all the lights. If it was a private home, it would be quite a nice display...I said IF it was a private home. I am surprised this doesn't show up on the news or 20/20 or something.
I don't have much to say today. Slept late, met my daughter and family for Mexican food and then home. I am trying to catch up on the whole season of Brothers and Sisters. I forgot how much I like that show.
Guess I will go to bed and see how long I can stay awake to watch more. Tomorrow is our last Bronco game and we need to win plus a few other need to win and lose to get us into the playoffs. Tomorrow I will be (gulp) cheering for the Raiders to win so I will probably have to drink before I even get out of bed to get myself ready to do that cheer. SACBARB AND ZONA, THIS WILL be the ONE AND ONLY time you will hear....GO RAIDERS from me.

Yes that is certainly light horror overboard.. and the money could have been put to better use.. It is quite unfortunate how these types of televangelists (ty Dee I used your word) make sooo much money.. I truly don't think ppl don't get it.. Once I saw the Bakers.. and that mess.. I knew in my heart what it all was..
