It’s hard to believe that we’re quickly approaching the 9th anniversary of September 11 attacks. I remember it like it was yesterday. The pain is still very real and the wounds haven’t fully healed for many of us.
This past summer, there was a lot of discussion/arguing about a proposed mosque to be constructed near ground zero. I did my best to listen to both sides without judgment, as clearly passions were very high for everyone involved.
But when I look back on the attacks, I think it’s important to remember who attacked us. It wasn’t Islam itself – but rather a handful of extremists who are not an accurate or complete representation of the roughly 1.5 billion Muslims in the world. We’d never assume all Christians shared Reverend Fred Phelps' "God hates fags" mentality, and so it’s important not to stereotype our Muslim brothers in the same way.
The United States was founded on many important freedoms that are protected by our Constitution. When the terrorists hijacked planes, they were not just attacking buildings and destroying lives – they were targeting our freedoms and our way of life. If we dissolve these freedoms, the freedom of assembly included, because of the September 11 attacks, then the terrorists have won in a very real way.
If, on the other hand, we stand by our freedoms even when it’s difficult to do so, then the spirit of this country lives on; protecting those freedoms – the backbone of this country – is one way we can honor the countless lives cut short on Sept. 11. And that’s why I support the mosque.

no way! wow..awesome
my goodness..did I get that really? lol..hello EBJ and Mary.
Hi Bebbi!
Nancy woke me up, back to bed!
Bebbi, my beauty, you out typed EBJ& Me!!
Well, have a good "back to bed" you lucky lady! I am at "back to work"..Monday..ugg
Puppy wanted an early morning pee call lol!!
Hi Mary!
Holy Crackomoley..not sure how I did that..but we are all beauties today! It was a 3 way tie...
Congrats on our 3 way, Mary and EBJ! hehe.
Have a great day you two!
This has really lifted my spirits and made me happy.! Thanks. I was having a rough Monday.
Cracked me up! I just noticed the "3 way"!!
You too..and you two both do the same.
lmbo.....you're welcome~
Good Moaning~
Was it as good for you as it was for me Bebbi & EBJ? ;-)
Who invited Tina? ijs, there goes "my moment"
DeeDee~ I think they should be able to build it there! I asked the hubby about this and he said that we should ask them if it's okay to build a Catholic church in their country!!! I told him that wasn't the same thing at all and we kinda got into it~ I won!!!~ Thanks for sending the blog~ mwah~
lmbo! mary~ how's YOUR farm?
Mary: Oh wow, it was specatular, fireworks and giggles. hehe.
Tina, my/your DFarm is way too much work. Need to down size!
Sorry gals, but the sight where it is being built is what puts a bad taste in my mouth. Nuff said...
DeeDee: I support it too. I think they SHOULD put a mosque, Catholic churck, Baptist, Methodist, Pentacostal, Buddhist, Monestary, and all the other religions..just line them up all around the site. All for ONE and ONE for all! :) And, of course, any I forgot and don't understand. That would show how much of a diverse and loving nation we are and that we accept each other for our differences and rejoice in them.
yes and "churck" should have said "church".
But, maybe I am naive in my thinking..I mean, maybe they have it right..just kill each other and then be done with it. Oh yes, really smart idea there. ...NOT!
DeeDee nice blog. The building of Mosque is so the least of America's problems.
The riff is growing so deep between all political parties that it will only be time before we destroy ourselves.
Everyday I look in the news and look for evidence that shows we are trying to work together as a nation. However, all I see is angry political show hosts that make the riff even deeper. It is hard to find a newspaper, blog, or TV show that is not tainted.
So on that happy note, I'm off to do the best I can in my own little world.
Good Mornig Hooters and the oh so pretty Bebbi!
Oh DeeDee what a topic! I had a heated argument with someone about this. Of course the Mosque should be built! First of all it is not "on ground zero" exactly.
Secondly, the religion of millions of people did not teach this or carry out the terrorist attacks. That was the work of extremists using that religion as a shield.
Our country is based on freedom of religion, freedom that we fought for then and still fight for now.
Our melting pot includes the protestants and catholics that came to this country the same way the muslim religion did. The only true "american" religion can be attributed to the American Indians.
Hope everyone has a good day!

Touché Goldie....well said!!!
Good morning Jennifer, DeeDee and Goldie! :)
I agree, with DeeDee, well said Goldie!
BECAUSE of what happened on 9/11 anything built on or near ground zero is going to cause controversy. People are going to be upset,it doesn't matter what is built there. In my opinion I think a world monument (because people from around the world were killed that day) should be erected with the names of those killed and the flags from the nations they represented. Then you can build your Mosque or whatever else anyone wants to build.
Good morning Bebbi, Ebj, Mary, Tina, Jennifer, Goldie and DeeDee!
Well Bebbi at least YOU don't MOAN about getting 1st, like SOMEONE else (who shall remain nameless...Tina).
Hmmm... A Mosque at the site of a terrorist attack that was the result of Islam extremists?
Let's remember that not all Nazi's were evil, yet it would be improper to erect a Nazi statue where a concentration camp once stood. The Japanese don't want a monument to the U.S. at Nagasaki nor Hiroshima. Regardless of how harmless a Mosque might be, it's salt in a wound, a slap in the face.
The people who want to build this Mosque: There is absolutely no other site they can build on? In the whole of New York? Bullshit.
wow
Morning Glories!
Bebbi you are so pretty this morning.
I have rolled this debate around in my mind also. My conclusion is that we are a country set up on the belief of religious freedom. Our ancestors fled in part because they were being persecuted for their beliefs. We either stand tall and walk the walk as Americans or we may as well dissolve our Constitution. It does not read except this religion or that religion, freedom to worship as you and your family choose.
Blaming all of one group for the actions of a few is like throwing the baby out with the bath water. Just plain wrong.
I have also heard a few Politicians on the extreme right (in my opinion) claim that Separation of Church and State was set up to protect their chosen church from the government. HUH???
I was taught that Separation of Church and state was set up so you can worship as you choose, but it is also to keep any one church from taking over my government. Infringing their beliefs on everyone, there by creating a Theocracy. This was another reason people fled and this was included in our constitution.
And Justice for All. Not just a few, not just those we favor at any given time, FOR ALL.
LynnD: Applause! Well said.
Lets not forget that people of all faiths, including Muslims were killed in those towers. Is their death less important because of who carried out the attacks.
I like Bebbi's idea churches of all faiths around the site would be beautiful.
DEEDEE: I think that before anything is built on this site..whether it be a mosque or a church or whatever else they have planned..the families of the nearly 3,000 people that died in and around the World Trade Center should be asked what they think..and their feelings and opinions should be seriously considered in whatever decision is made.
I believe in our fundamental freedoms..I believe we have to stick to them..but I also believe in compassion..I just don't know where the two ideas would meet on this issue.
Waving a wing at BEBBI, MARY, EBJ, GOLDIE, TINA, LYNN, JENNIFER, SHIRLEY and BONACHI!
Zona....you can't have a sprinkle of this and a dollup of that...its all or nothing when it comes to the freedoms we enjoy in this country.
I will never be convinced of what we have been told about the attacks on 9/11...its absurd.....but for the sake of discussion of the building of this mosque...I'll pretend...
Tina....what country exactly is "their" country? And does that country have the privilege of religious freedom? I doubt it.
Bonachichi....yes dear...all Nazis were evil....oh nevermind!
here is a portion of an article...
Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the head of the Cordoba Institute, which is in charge of the project, insisted that the site would help "bridge the great divide" between Muslims and the rest of America.
"We are Americans, we are Muslim Americans," Rauf said. "Many of us were born in the United States. We have no higher aspirations than to bring up our children in peace and harmony in this country."
But the crowd got ugly when he added, "Freedom of assembly is the right of all Americans."
Amid boos, one woman shouted, "Not at the World Trade Center!"
Some audience members preached tolerance for the Muslim leaders.
Before the meeting, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, a supporter of the mosque, stood in front of the site and said, "What we're rejecting here is outright bigotry and hatred."
Catholic priest Kevin Madigan, of St. Peter's Church, which is about a block away, agreed.
"I think they need to establish a place such as this for people of goodwill from mainline Christian, Jewish and Muslim faiths so we can come together to talk," Madigan said.
Feisal Abdul Rauf...appointed by the Bush and Obama administrations to help build a bridge between Muslims.. Christians and Jews has at this point said that they will abandon their plans and consider building somewhere else.....
and that to me is sad and it is embarrassing to me.....one of the reasons behind the location of the Mosque was to extend help and support to victims families...
In all this ...Muslims have been so victimized since the day it all happened...and they did NOTHING. We were not attacked by Middle Eastern terrorists on 9/11. One need look no further that Washington DC for the perpetrators of these crimes....the same criminals that invaded a country that had nothing to do with 9/11...and virtually has destroyed it....and unleashed unspeakable horrors on innocent families by the hundreds of thousands.
And now...9 years later...we are still letting our enlisted men and women go into harms way...and many times...die...and over what...the 300 billion dollar a year drug trade in Afghanistan?
What happened on 9/11 pales in comparison to what the United States has done to innocent people since.....but rather than focus on the fact that we...AMERICA...have become the terrorists.....we choose to get pissed off and bitch about a mosque being built....
By the time people realize whats going on around them...if they ever do....its going to be way too late....hell....I'm sorry to say...its already to late....
DeeDee, I respectfully offer up Oskar Schindler. A Nazi.
If I were a really religious person I would say we were being tested. I wonder if we will pass the test?
ok...thats one....
a huge one....makes me cry to think of his deeds and sacrifices....
Here we go again. I use the term Nazi to include all Germans who were safe under the Nazi regime.
It doesn't matter what I or anyone else thinks of this Mosque. It's legal. The people who died at Ground Zero are dead. They don't matter. I think there are a bunch of white men behind the building of this Mosque because it seems more a statement than the desire to build a house of worship. So let them make their statement. I can't wait for pics of construction workers pissing on the remains of the 9/11 victims.
DeeDee: Wow! applause for you too..VERY WELL SAID!
LynnD: Thank you.
Three way tie.....congrats to all three of you on first today. This happened to me once on Fantasy Football with my husband ....we were the same time and he got the guy...mad me very mad!!!
Well, the Broncos and GB, Texans and Detroit all lost yesterday. We were winning to Cinn and then lost...stupid! Congrats to the Cardinals (MrZ), the "gulp" Raiders and even Cleveland....Mo and yes the Seahawks too. IT is only pre season but still..........
I think I am with ZONA on this one...."a dollop of this and a sprinkle of this".....ZONA....it's almost your bday...are you going to be 51 or 61...I get mixed up?
Wow, it is thundering and lightning and pouring rain and only 68 degrees out. It is very unusual for us to have this kind of weather in the early day like this and it had no prediction either. I can see some light sky coming but it is good as we need some rain bad! Actually, I love this kind of weather...but I am so ready for fall ..especially after this boring summer I have had here.
HEY SHIRLEY......You had better get those etiquette questions over to DEEDEE today...it' s Monday!!
Respectfully Bonachichi, who would have been safe and benefited from the Nazi regime?
Certainly not my parents or any of my realatives-ALL who lived in Germany. As children BOTH my parents lost their homes, family members and an entire way of life due to the Nazi regime.
My mother was held at gunpoint and threatened with death along with her siblings and mother and grandmother, as those in the regime looked for valuables as they hid in a tiny room at a friends home. This was after fleeing with nothing more than would fit into a wagon, with 3 children, parents and a grandmother, while bombs were in their backyard.
My father starved to the point that as an adult he literally had 6cans of everything in the pantry.
They both saw the horrors of friends being taken away because they were Jews. My parents were not, but can you imagine the trauma?
Picture my mother and grandfather riding thru forests in the dark on bicycles they borrowed so they could find a way to lead family to save places. Imagine my grandfather, who was once a wealthy landowner and horse breeder taking a job as a farm manager-offered only because the last 2 had been murdered and he needed to feed his family.
I can't believe this country would be trying to stop a Catholic church being built, regardless of all the molestation and abuse charges against Priests, or perhaps because of some of their famous Catholic Murderers. John Wayne Gacy comes to mind.
This country is based on religious freedom, and to argue against it (religious freedom, not Muslim Terrorists)is in my humble opinion the same kind of bigotry that is shown towards race and sexual orientation.
To help a religion HEAL the pain they have endured due to some fanaticals is what is needed. Maybe because I know Muslims personally who had nothing to do with 9/11 or any other terrorist event, yet have suffered and been the subject of hate for it.
This is just my opinion, I don't wish to get in a pissing contest with anyone, but I do want to make my point. That said, I welcome everyone elses point too, as I said and meant- I respectfully disagree. You are welcome to do the same with me.
That said- It is a beautiful day outside and I wish I was out in it!
Dianne: You have been on my mind lately and I kept meaning to tell you that. I hope you are doing good. How's the PT going? Has it been getting better????
We have cooler temps here today after it being really hot for several days. It's amazing the difference. It feels really good and may get down to 66 tonight..amazing how quick the weather changes.
I thought Kathy was going to be 29.
Goldie, you're preaching to the choir. Research Wernher Von Braun to see how some Germans worked under the Nazi regime to keep their families safe. My aunt was born in Germany. Shortly before the war. I know what hell it was as much as any other person who wasn't alive when it happened.
This Mosque at Ground Zero is legal. The people who died there have no say. Policy isn't usually dictated by dead people. One of the few rights I maintain as an American citizen is the right to an opinion. I can't necessarily voice it, but I can have it.
Goldie, I too have been in contact with many non terrorist here in Mich. We have a large community in the Detroit area in what used to be "German town". I have dealt with a couple when I tried to sell my Dads Shoe store. They (the two) were very disrespectful to me. They don't like to deal with women. When they noticed my car I proudly said "I helped make it at G.M.the one looked at it and said " piece of shit"! Needless to say I didn't sell it to them!
On the other hand I know a couple Muslim women who are in the Lansing community. Except for their cloths they are no different then I am. I hold no grudge to the Muslim people, but there is a lot of inequality when it comes to their own (women) in the name of Allah.
I respect all of your opinions.
oh Goldie....that was eloquent and from the heart...I can tell...
I wanted to share this little tidbit about Oskar Schindler...
I don't think he was a Nazi...yes he joined the Nazi party....but I had friends in Nicaragua during the revolution....that got along to get along...if you know what I mean...it was either give a little or loose everything....
Anyway....this is what i wanted to share....
Schindler wanted to be buried in Jerusalem, as he said, "My children are here". After a Requiem Mass, Schindler was buried at the Catholic Franciscans' cemetery on Mount Zion, the only member of the Nazi Party to be honoured in this way. A sign at the entrance to the cemetery directs visitors "To Oskar Schindler's Grave."
Schindler's grave, the only one in the cemetery piled with small stones left by Jewish visitors.
Schindler's grave is located on the mountainside below Zion Gate and the Old City walls. Stones placed on top of the grave are a sign of gratitude from Jewish visitors, according to Jewish tradition, although Schindler himself was not Jewish. On his grave, the Hebrew inscription reads: "Righteous among the Nations", an honorific used by the State of Israel to describe non-Jews who risked their lives during the Holocaust to save Jews from extermination by the Nazis. The German inscription reads: "The Unforgettable Lifesaver of 1200 Persecuted Jews".
you know...I'm thinking...what has happened to the world...well most of the conflict all goes back to peoples Gods....
but feeling safe is uncommon for me anymore....you didn't used to have to worry so much about being abducted and beheaded in the past decades...I love to travel but lets face it...if the wrong people got wind of my travel plans it could be disastrous...
It would be a real feather in the head rag of some terrorist group to get their hands on me!!
The inventor of CORN!??!
They would probably try to make me invent a staple food for them...and if I had another on the back burner I would have invented it already!!
So you know what that means.....heads coming OFF!!
Yes, Bona, you can have your opinion, but I have to be honest and say that on how it is said it scares. When Mary said her opinion it did not scare me at all.
Leave it to DeeDee to stir shit up. Great subject, by the way.
The only debate about the Mosque here in SZ & IT is that Obama should have kept his nose out of it. They seem to be thinking he should be keeping his nose out of a lot of things these days.
Life as a USA-er will never be boring.
bona- I don't have to research him, I know who he is. My Grandfather was a test pilot for the German's before the war. He did not become a Nazi.
I once asked my Mom why if the Nazi's were so bad did we see pictures of people lining the streets and cheering-and huge crowds at rally's. She responded thoughtfully, and said "what you didn't see was the guns pointed at your back and the threats made if you DID NOT cheer wildly." My mom is almost 80- she still finds it difficult to relive those memories.
My last thought on the subject is Joseph Goebbels and propoganda. I believe that sums up a lot of the how the Nazi's power was achieved.
DeeDee- to this day my Mother has never seen Schindlers list and My Dad always refused to see it too. They both said, why would I want to see a movie about a horror that was part of my childhood.
What a blog. I'm gonna truncate my post as I read comments...
TINA...I'm glad you won. The difference between here and there is we do allow for freedoms that are not available in Muslim countries. I don't think we accuse all on the behaviors of some.
BEBBI...that would be a great idea to build a multi culteral center in the heart of the area. All religions and prove how we are compassionate towards all. And a special center to honor those who perished on that day.
CHI CHI...not all Nazi's were evil???? WTF??? Not ALL German's were Nazi's and in fact many, many of them aided the Jews and other victims, fed them and hid them or helped them escape. But can you name one "good"Nazi? That would be like a good heart attack or a good cancer. SMH Btw, I don't think Shindler was a Nazi...not by practice, but perhaps in name to help those that couldn't help themselves.
ZONA...wouldn't compassion be a great thing for everyone to practice...every day. The Golden Rule comes to mind.
GOLDIE...your family suffered so terribly at the hands of the Nazi's. Your post was beautifully written and I send you and INGA BINGA a ginormous {{{HUG}}}
MARY...you are right about the lack of repsect often shown to the Muslim women. But again, IMHO, not all are like that. ANd the ones that are should be ashamed of themselves.
DEE DEE...nice post about Shindler. Hopefully cleared up a few things.
JENNIFER...I agree about being scared. {{hugs}}
Hey Maureen, what am I chopped liver? You didn't say "Hi!"
Here are my etiquette questions:
If you see a woman who looks like a paperdoll cutout, is it wrong to go buy a sandwich and take it to her?
Also, if you see a woman who is (how do I say this delicately) fat, wearing a skin tight leopard print leotard walking in a mall, is it wrong to say "Honey...NO NO NO...that is not the look for you!"? Should you say anything at all, or just walk away shaking your head?
Whew....busy blog today. Well, I just came home from my first drive of the summer and a hard PT. I had to do a lot today since I didn't have a boot on and boy is my leg/foot swollen.
I think I will just say hi to all of you and go lay down for awhile.....HI!!
SHIRLEY...I'm sorry! But, I absolutely LOVE chopped liver! Especially the way my cousin Sharon makes it! There should be a monument to her!!
I was scrolling and then typing and then scrolling and typing...bad me ;(
How the hell are you?
I do like your idea of a world monument and honoring ALL the people that perished.
DIANNE...hope you get some well deserved rest and feel better soon
Dianne I think you are suppose to put you foot up higher than your head. Just don't do that with a dress on. ijs :)
One other thing....when I got in my car the first song was Sinatra....I Did It My Way....what a coincidence ---made me think of all of you!!
DIANNE...especially don't do that in a dress while going commando!!
Maureen I'm well. How the hell are you?
Well, maybe Dianne's PT is cute, so then maybe cammando won't be so bad. Maybe she is in the "cougar" stage of her life?
Dear Lord~ Well that was somewhat amusing to read~ I just finished 12 hrs of work.....the last four were answering emails from pissed off people (okay....not all of them). I'm too tired to drive home......really hope 2 certain people feel like doing their own farms tonight~
I loved all the comments. I do have to say.....Bonachichi's comments didn't frighten me in the least. Everyday I have to put myself in someone else's shoes and see things from their perspective before answering them. I guess that's what I do here, too. It's been a long time since we all talked like this about something really important! (not that elvis and frankie-poo aren't important!) (rolling eyes.....into the back of my head.....and having a seizure!) JUST KIDDING!!!~
DeeDee is going to be 75!!!~
....unless someone cuts off her head~ :)~
....going home~
TINA…I harvested, plowed and planted exactly what you had planted. I don't know how to do the facilities but at least everything is planted right now...just finished. Now I really am off to elevate and PT guy is kind of cute...and I am way cougar or old lion to him!!
Dianne, sorry to here that PT was so hard..and that your foot is swollen..at least the PT was eye candy, that probably helped! :)
Afternoon all.
Well I have to say this blog got my blood stirring and my mind moving and it was a relief to put some of my thoughts into words. Thank you Deedee.
I think everyone touched on some of my own thoughts and add dashes and cupfuls of more profound thoughts to the mix.
Goldie well said. I had the same thought about the Catholic church today. (Imagine that you and I having the same thoughts).
My thoughts were, what if I started my own citizens group that demanded that all Catholic churches be closed and or stopped from building new ones anywhere, because they had priests that were pedophiles and many people in the church new and covered for them heck even moved them from community to community. My group would then paint all Catholics with the same brush and accuse them of condoning pedophiles and therefore a danger to my community.
Really this is the same thing. Of course I realize as a critical thinking human being that the only ones guilty in all of that mess were the people who committed the crimes and the people in authority that covered for them. Not everyone in the damn church who chose to be practicing Catholics.
Slippery slope here and soon we will slide over the edge if we don't stop and think, set hatred aside and start to reason as sane people.
My understanding is that most faiths are built upon forgiveness. So if you can't forgive and you are so angry you take it out even on the innocents what happens? Well I think we will have a new generation that will hate America even more for not honoring our own laws and Constitution. Thereby setting up our future generations for more war and conflict. imjs
Now that being said. It is hotter than Deedee's zorch here today and I am contemplating stripping nekkid as a Jaybird and standing outside under the damn hose.
one thing that needs to be said as well is that in the footprints of the WTC will be a multi-million memorial to those who died....
I don't know why the media refers to it as a mosque at ground zero...it is in the vicinity....between 2 bldgs on a NYC street....but not on any ground where people died or any buildings fell....
lol at "leave it to DeeDee to stir shit up".....I just thought we could have a nice discussion and everyone could go to bed tonight proud to be an American....I didn't have any idea that you were going to start picking your nose and wipe boogers on my blouse!!
Kidding Bonachichi....sometimes it easy to misunderstand you by the way you say things....I get you.....but have you ran away from the Avanzate a testa bassa baciando school again!!??
lol at Mary and her "piece of shit".......that is too funny!!!
"I built that car!!"...."PIECE OF SHIT!"....who would say that!!?? OMG.....
Maureen....Shindler joined the Nazi party intent on profiting from the war...many people differ on this but I believe his heart took over because in the process of saving his workers...he also depleted his personal fortune and died penniless in 1974....
DEE DEE...I swear...all my buggers went onto a kleenex.
Shirley...
thank you for your question...
I think it would be perfectly acceptable to take the bony person some food. As long as you heart is pure.....
as for the fat lady in the leopard print....you would have to become friends before you would be in a position to talk to her about her look.......so walk away or make a new friend......
if she is in any way rude when you attempt to befriend her...then feel free to tell her what you think of her ensemble....including but not limited to; raucous laughter...finger pointing and profanity.
Going home from the library now. Hopefully I can get back in the nest from my computer.
If not, have a PEACEFUL and happy dreams night.
Oh, and I AM proud to be an American...and Jewish...and of Russian and Polish descent...and fat...and tired!
Baby M update~~~
Angie is out of ICU as of this afternoon and is feeling better.
Baby M is off the breathing tube, but is still in NICU. He will be there until at least Thurdsay they suspect. There are still questions about all his organs functioning properly.
Kyle will be home in SF tomorrow and will be visiting Angie in the hospital. Will get more details then.
Thanks for all your prayers and good wishes for them.
Goldie, I was fascinated and sad to read about what your family had to go through! Thanks for sharing . I am sure it was not easy. XOXOXOX
DeeDee, are you still taking etiquette questions?
Goldie, thanks for the update. They were on my mind today. Still praying!
and we have Mary in Michigan on the line...go ahead caller...
I think my radio is broken...MARY was supposed to be on the line, but I can't hear her...
DeeDee, A best friend asks you to DJ her GD's reception months ahead. You agree. You assume she is going to pay. Reception is next day and no one has mentioned money. You gently say. "I can't remember who "hired me, you or your Gd". She says "oh, whoever, I know they don't have much money".
Reception over, I feel bad because she is my best friend and give her a bill barely covering expenses.I wrote bill out like this..
Reg, reception price $_____
minus same$_____. Would appreciate set up time and gas plus music ordered and bought for Bride (she asked for).
Girlfriend graciously wrote check out for full amount. Now I am feeling guilty! Should I give some of it back, give to Bride, or keep?
BTW, Girlfriend has sold me many things she has made, like aprons, sweatshirts, blankets etc.
MARY...quite the dilema. Glad I am not DEE DEE and don't have to answer this!! Did you also give the Bride a wedding gift?
I have my opinion, but I will wait for DEE DEE's reply
I did give them a gift. My girlfriend handed me the check I assumed it was the smaller amount. She said " I don't want to hear anything about this, I mean it!" Just take it", you earned it. She was not mad.
I for one think building a mosque two blocks north of the world trade center is a slap in the face to all who perished on 9/11, and its a awful for the families. I firmly believe that behind this mosque is terrorism of the worst kind.
Mr Rauf stated after the 9/11 attacks and I quote "United States policies were an accessory to the crime that happened" and when asked about certain terrorist groups his answer "the issue of terrorism is a very complex question.”
Perhaps it is complex, Perhaps terrorism comes in all different forms, but if a terrorist group is documented has casting terrorist attacks. Then plz call a spade a spade, don't skirt around the question.
There are many places in NY for a mosque to be erected. It is a shame that they have chosen a place two blocks from where terrorist killed over 3000 ppl in the name of Allah.
If terrorist don't like our United States Policies (as Mr Rauf has stated). Don't be cowards and take it out on innocent ppl. Step up and fight ppl who can fight you back. Mr Rauf is just another pawn in this terrorist circle.
I understand America is a melting pot, all different religions, are certainly welcomed. But this religion who praises Allah while killing ppl is not something I welcome or want any part of. And I know what many will stay, that not all ppl devoted to Allah kill in Allah name. But truth be told, I will never forgot 9/11 and the lives that were lost, only for pride and power.
America has made many changes over the years and has adapted to many different cultures. But something went terribly wrong along the way, and we find ourselves in a very awkward, frighting position. We are extremely vulnerable. The doors that we have opened, and shut closed in our faces..
President Obama should have not weighed in on the building of mosque. I also say no president should weigh in on this subject. This had nothing to do with Presidential duties.
I only wish there was a vote box, cause I would be first in line, voting against the Mosque.
Mary Mary Mary.......
No one...and I mean NO ONE.....that is your friend...should expect anything free or at a discount unless YOU suggest or offer it.
Your fee....whatever that will be...plus a nice gratuity for a job well done and services above and beyond what is normally included is the way friends treat friends....
If you choose to gift your services thats great...but not expected....

I think this is a great blog.. If I was in my right frame of mind, I would have certainly written a blog on this subject..

Thanks DeeDee, I do feel better. It WAS a hot MO FO that night with no A/C. Great job Missy etiquette!
Mary- you did the right thing and DeeDee I agree with your answer.
Carol, your point of view was very interesting. Today I have read numerous and numerous articles on this topic and the only thing that I know 100% is that it is a touchy subject.
This topic just reminds of the numerous other issues that the United States is so seperated on and has been no matter who is the President. I feel we are at a crucial time to be good listeners and to disrespectfully disagree, so that we don't cut off all lines of communication.
Jen..
I agree.. communication should always be open.. and I also agree.. very touchy subject.. but glad we can all voice our opinions with no judgments..
I am off to bed.. long day tomorrow..
my dad is having his last test.. fingers and toes still crossed..
Carol,Super hugs to you and your Dad!
Praying for good results!!
My eyebrows so need to be waxed that they are even crossed right now for you and dad. :)
Congratulations, Mo. You've managed to insult me more than anyone has, perhaps in my life. I am not going to defend myself because I already clarified my assertions. I can't help that the phrase, "All Nazis are evil" is not true in the logical sense. I didn't create the exception that makes that phrase false, I just brought attention to it. I'm very sorry that not every person who ever wore that uniform is a piece of shit.
Happy fucking Tuesday, everyone. It can't be any worse than Monday.
Off to bed and glad to see all the opinions today and comments. Wow....one of our bigger days....good blog DEEDEE.
]
CAROL: I found your opinion very interesting since you live right there when 9/11 happened. I heard such a feeling from you....all interesting today. It is a touchy subject for so many reasons.
Night all....
OMG, DeeDee! I just caught one of the comments you made earlier. I know you "get" me and I know that I sometimes have trouble communicating. I do love (that word again) your controversial blogs. They get people talking about more than poo jokes. I just wish I could keep from putting my foot in my mouth thereby becoming a target for the rest of the blog.
I make such an effort to NOT make judgments and to be respectful of everyone, it sometimes hurts when I'm accused of doing exactly that. I travel and I've not been killed yet. I must not be pissing EVERYONE off.
110. Just so Bebbi doesn't have apoplexy cuz it's not even.
DEE DEE - Very interesting blog. I have read all the comments and believe that the mosque should be built there.
GOLDIE - I read with tears in my eyes what you wrote about what your parents went thru. May your father rest in peace and you know I love Inge!! ♥ u 2 lady!!
CAROL - Sending good thoughts for your Dad today....:O)
Wishing all HOoters a PEACEFUL day ♥
Where the heck r JL and Sacbarb?
DIANNE - I thought you were going to bed....do I need to sing you a lullaby?
DIANNE - To answer your question....I don't know!!
Off to spackle and fluff....I'll catch you all after work ♥
Here's what I think, a variation on Bebbi's idea:
I think they should erect one magnificent structure at Ground Zero. Christians can call it a church, Muslims can call it a mosque, and Jews can call it a temple.
Because, when it comes right down to it, all three religions worship the same deity!
JL and SacBarb are at the airport waiting for their flight~ :)~
Bonachichipeepee~ I git chew~ Now quit being so pissy~ :D
A copy and pasted quote from 10:36am...
"Let's remember that not all Nazi's were evil"
Now a copy and pasted quote from2:14 am...
I can't help that the phrase, "All Nazis are evil"
I'm confused as to how I insulted you more then anyone ever...you contradicted yourself in your slam to me. If you question someone, it's ok? But if someone questions you they are insulting?? I guess I am just an insulting bitch. Oh well.
WHABBY...great idea. For eons, Jews have prayed and practiced the rites of the religion in churches, schools and homes because anyplace you have available can be a religious sanctuary since for so much of Jewish history the right to erect a Temple was banned by law. And I agree that there is one diety.
CAROL...ssending positive thoughts and prayers to you and CICI today. Fingers and toes crossed.
Happy Tuesday
Carol: I hope that all is positive today.
