I use to go over into my sister's room, sit on her hope chest in front of the window and strum the guitar to this song. I also sang to it too (much to my mothers dislike). Mind you I couldn't play a note or carry a tune but I enjoyed myself anyway. I was probably 10 or 11. Anyone else think they were destined to have a thriving musical career at the age of 10?

Shirley~ I used to sing so loud...and apparently off-key....one day a man came to fix the dishwasher, and my mom had to come into the living room to tell me to stop singing! :( Now I sing loud in church.....God loves my voice~ :D

Can I just say how I HATE the time change?!!? Bad enough on my weekend off that I can never sleep in....but this morning I was WIDE AWAKE at flippin' 1am!!!
I've put in a full day already....coffee, dishes, laundry. After I get back from picking Sam up I think I might need a cat nap!!

Shirley, I got chill listening to the song! It brings back sweet memories. I was a teeny bit older than you when it came out (teenager). My hoe-moans were running rampet then lol! It's a wonder I was a "good girl" as long as I was ha ha!!

SHIRLEY: "Don't Rain On My Parade" was going to be my ticket to stardom!! See how well that turned out? LOL!! I sang that song so much..so loud..in front of so many imaginary audiences..my sister STILL hates it!! I used to play the guitar badly too..and just two years ago I got a Casio keyboard for Christmas. I've played about two notes on it so far..I just don't think I ever gave up that 'making it as a pop star' dream! :D

I'm waiting for a guy from the city to show up..the water main into our water meter is leaking and it qualifies as an emergency. The last time this happened the street started to sink. If it's not one thing it's another..sheesh..

It is about 50* today...MUCH better then yesterday! We are supposed to have sun (or son! tee hee, TINA) all week and maybe even get close to 60*. I'll take it!
What's with all the weather talk? Our town is about to organize an Ark building committee! It's still raining here and suppose to continue on and off all week. Rivers are rising, basements are flooding and people are evacuating all over the province. One man fell into the water at Peggy's Cove and hasn't been found. There is always someone who gets too close when there is heavy surf action. When will they learn? The only good thing about all this weather is the temperatures being 10C+ (50F+). I would have my windows open if the rain would stop. For now I just have to settle for sitting with my fan on.

My older brother and sister and I use to play band when we were little. We had 2 plastic pink garbage cans we used as drums. Pencils were our drumsticks. I think we were pretending to be the Partrigde Family. Don't bother looking for videos on YouTube, we weren't very successful.

Is there a football team I should be rooting for this afternoon, cause football seems to be on most channels today?
I saw a little bit of a game between 2 universities here in NS yesterday. I would hate to be the grounds keeper of that field! What a mess. With the exception of 15 yards before each end zone the rest of the field was just mud. It was difficult to tell who was who! It made me think of mum, because she liked football and she enjoyed the games in the rain and snow the most cause she said it made the game more interesting.
Well..the water company came, saw and said they'd be back tomorrow or the next day to fix the leak. The water is overflowing the meter and spreading into our gravel front yard..but they think that's ok. We took pics..just in case.

Lots going on today.... Bad singing, weather and water meters.
I feel bad for kids who want to sing but can't. It seems so easy, just open your mouth and belt one out. Like a burp. For the rest of us, a burp would be much better than anything we tried to sing. Ah well.. our talents are elsewhere, yes?

Shirley OMG! I went to Peggy's Cove during my trip! It was effing windy and cold. Our guide pointed out the black, slippery moss on the rocks and warned us not to go out on them. It was very picturesque and rugged with a pounding surf hitting the rocks by the lighthouse. I can sure understand how someone could get swept away if they got too close.

I'm not musical at all. I can't sing well and I can't play an instrument. I do have a dance background and can move well to music, just can't make it. Wish I could. I never really fantasized about being a singer but my daughter used to sing into her hairbrush to Madonna songs. LOL
