A Birdee Moment?

by Maureen

My blog was inspired by our dear Chicken Owl, BIRDEEEEEE! I read her comment about her encounter with the meter reader. After my raucous laughter died down, I started thinking about some of my own "BIRDEE MOMENTS"! We have all had them (some still do!)...don’t deny it!! I will share a couple of mine. Some of you may have heard them already, but if I have to re-live them, then you have to read it again!!!

When I was about 14 or 15, we lived in the downstairs flat of a 2 story duplex. The elderly landlord lived upstairs. She used to rent a room in her flat out for extra money. She had rented the room to a 22 year old dental school student. Al was GORGEOUS...tall, dark and handsome! I, of course, fell madly in love with him! One day, I was wearing one of those bodysuit shirts. It was brown and it snapped at the crotchal area. I had been sitting around watching tv and my mom asked me to go upstairs and ask Al something. So, I happily trotted up the stairs. As we talked in the doorway, I couldn’t help but notice how Al was starring and smiling at me. OOHHH, he is madly in love with me, too!!

WRONG!!!

Prior to my trip up the stairs, I had snapped my bodysuit OVER my jeans! It was kinda like wearing your underwear on the outside! I was mortified!! As you can see, now I think it is hilarious...but not so much then!!

When I lived in L.A I worked for a few months in an office setting. I wore dresses and suits and skirts and blouses to work. I also wore underwire bras! One day, I was talking to the accountant in her office. She kept smirking and I didn’t have a clue as to why. After our conversation, I went back to my desk and sat down. I noticed something sticking out of my blouse...an underwire popped and had worked its way out the top of my blouse!! Not only did I have a wire sticking out, I now had one boob north and one boob south!! I vowed to never wear an underwire bra again! As long as they both sag evenly, I am happy!!

Oh, there are so many more! But then you would all think I was a bigger dork then you already think I am!!!!!!

What are your BIRDEE moments, care to share????

MO: You're kidding, right?? I have so many of these "Birdee" moments that I think of it as just a normal way of life for me!! LOL

I remember being in the supermarket with Mr. Z one Saturday. We were in the check out line when I realized we had forgotten something. No problem, I would run back and get it. I had a tank top and jeans on at the time. I ran over to the aisle, got what we needed..and was running back when I felt my bra slip up and over my boobs and land somewhere around my neck!! Talk about a sudden bounce..omg...and there was no way to hide it or fix it. I just kept running...one arm under the 'girls' for support until I got back to Mr. Z...boy was he all grins!!

A couple years ago Mr. Z and I were at the bank, getting something or another straightened out. I stood up out of the metal chair..and felt a hard tug on my jeans..I didn't see anything, so I think much of it. We continued running errands for the next few hours. Before we went home, we stopped at my sister's house. I had no sooner stepped in the door when she asked me "Did you sit in paint?" I said "What?" She said it looked like there was a big paint stripe on my rearend. I went to look in her full length mirror and almost croaked, there was a long rip in my jeans. I must have caught them on the metal chair at the bank..and that was the 'tugging' I felt. Well, I guess everyone got their 'yellow' that day...cuz that's what color my underwear was!!!! I smacked Mr. Z for NOT noticing BTW!!! ;)

Good morning, Zona! Congrats on first! I'm still laughing at your Birdee moments.

LynnD, congratulations on your beautiful new grandson!!

Moweenie, loved your blog--I can just picture your shirt snapped over your jeans . . . LOL!!

I have also had many Birdee moments--I'll have to narrow down the best ones and come back later. I'm off to pick up a loaner car since they can't seem to figure out why my Herbie is so horny. :)

Good morning Hooters! Congrats on 1st Zona.

CONGRATULATIONS Grandma Lynn!!

Boy, I have had many of those moments, but I try to block them out. I will have to ponder which of my "blonde" classics I am willing to share!! LOL

Hi sandie!

Zona said...

MO: Popping back in to thank you for the great blog today! I agree with the even sag... ;)

SANDIE: LOL at Horny Herbie! Our old car did the same thing and it turned out to be some sensor in the steering wheel.

GOLDIE: Good Morning! I use to call them blonde moments (I like 'classics' better though), but with my hair getting darker every year..I'm losin' that excuse..LOL

I hope everyone has a good day!!

Morning Glories!

Zona you slid into first! Wohoo! Umm I think you panties are showing! LOL

Mo, Birdee moments? Does she know you are using her name in vain? LMAO

Well I had one yesterday on the way to the hospital. I was driving and Mr. Lynn D gave me directions and we were on a road I had never traveled before.

I am driving along a pretty good clip and then for some reason my brain just did not register what I was seeing. What I was seeing were flashing red lights ahead at a rail road crossing. Well I was damn near on the tracks and I like an idiot locked up the brakes!

Mr. Lynn D started yelling go, JUST GO!!! Which I then floored it and just made it across as the metal arm came down. Boy did I feel stupid!! Poor Mr. Lynn D was hyperventaliting next to me, he looked at me and said WTH??

I just responded back well it would have been sad family lore for the new baby. Richard your Grandma and Grandpa were on the way to the hospital to be there when you were born. Alas they met with a tragic accident and were hit by a TRAIN!

I think I was a little distracted. UNDERSTATEMENT!

Talked to my daughter already this morning. She is doing well, but said she and the father did not get much sleep last night. Imagine that! LOL

They are going to have her up and moving today and it looks like they may get released tomorrow instead of Sunday! So that is good news.

My Avatar is of Richard and I will post more later today on MS. Unfortunately I only got pics of him at this angle as there were so many people in the room and the nurse was in the way! LOL

Spliting post

I want to send out prayers, and let Ronnie and Dreama know I am thinking about them! Keep safe and I really hope that Ike will not be as bad as they are predicting!

Maureen your blog made me laugh. My embaressing moments are always with those silicone nipple petals that I wear instead of a bra ( I hate straps) I will bend over and I'm always in a store or where people can see me and when I straighten back up the frickin gel nipple patch will fall off and out of my shirt. I could just die when I have to pick one up with people staring at me.
Mo I wrote to you last night about midnight my time over at MS.
I left a short message on the Nest last night at midnight and joined in since everyone was using the F word. I figured I'd drop a few F bombs myself towards terrorists and frickin Ike.
Just Lin said it was Ok for me to rename the ass CusTURD.
I better go back to monitoring F--king Ike. Frickin hurricanes. Frickin tornados. Frickin storm surges! I'll be back to my sweet self on Sunday or Monday.

Good Morning Whabbear and Lynn - I didn't scroll back far enough. We were posting at the same time too.

Lynn - I can't wait to see the pictures of the new grandson. I adore babies. I did the same thing rushing to see my first and only grandson. I was distracted and turned into the lane that led to another highway. I couldn't turn around until I had travelled about 20 minutes. I was so upset because I was in such a hurry to see him and my daughter. In hindsight, I was probably a hazard waiting to happen and should have had someone drive me. I think it is harder to have your daughter go through childbirth than to do it yourself. At least you feel like you have more control of the situation. I am happy for you today. Just wait until you get to hold him for the first time. Pure Heaven.

Maureen - I loved your blog. It feels good to laugh today. I loved everyone's stories. I have a few embarrassing moments. I will wait a while and see what the others dare to tell.

I will be back after a visit to myspace.

Tinkatia said...

Good Morning Dreamatexas - We were posting at the same time. Stay safe.

Ronnie - Please check in. Hope you are in a high place right now.

I don't know if this qualifies as a blonde moment, but it was embarrasing.

I was in the grocery store when my cell rang- it was my son, telling me that I was a 1st time grandma to a beautiful healthy baby girl!
I was so happy and so excited that I just started crying. REALLY HARD. People stopped, people stared, I was smiling and crying and announcing to anyone in earshot that I was a new grandma as I wove my way thru the store, all the while blubbering like an idiot.

I just had to get out! So, I get to the checkout- I tell her sorry, I don't have time to stand here (I don't know why, the baby was born 8 hours away ) so I left my cart. I just needed to get home to Mr. Goldie.

A few days later, I go back to the same store, with same list and proceed to shop. When I get to the check-out the lady says- "oh, your the new grandma!" I ask, how did you know that? "Oh, I remember you- you were a mess the last time you were here!".

Funny now- mortified then!

Good morning Owl Family,

(It is a good morning with our new precious baby being born yesterday)

Congratulations Grandma Lynn, he's
beautiful. New life with such a long way to go. Seeing his little precious self just makes everything good again. Sometimes when things aren't going too well for me, I get a 'baby-fix' from my grandchildren. That changes everything. Enjoy your Blessing, Grandma and Grandpa D.

Sorry for the upcoming long post, I just need to talk. Actually a GOOD march to #69 is the only thing that might be better. Ha!

Finally back on the computer for a few minutes, just for an update about our Texas Guest, Ike, arriving this evening.

My family has decided not to leave but to 'hunker down', as our Governor calls it. We will be at my daughter's home and the windows are all boarded up and all the supplies are in place. My home is now hurricane ready and all the 'stuff' that I think I can't live without has been moved to my bathroom/dressing room, where there are no windows. I just hate all of this and it makes me sad to have to pick and choose what I want in there. At least The people that I love will be all together, and the rest is just 'stuff'.

Yesterday when I was out getting a few last minute items and cash and gas....there was no gas at any stations, and the ATM machines (the 3 I went to) were out of money. WTH, I'm physically running out of gas too. I'm too damn old to be doing this again.

I'll probably be stuck at my daughters for a few days because the boulevard at the entrance to her subdivision is lined on both sides with very old huge oak trees that will be either uprooted or limbs falling in the street.

This is not my first time at the Rodeo, but damn, I really don't want to see my family upset or scared. I do know Ike will take 10 to 12 hours to pass over us which causes howling winds that would scare anyone. I told my daughter to have my 11 year old grandson play outside very hard today to wear him out so maybe tonight he can sleep through it. It should start the 'real deal' somewhere around midnight.

I want to thank those of you who left me your kind and loving messages for my familie's welfare, it means a lot to me. I know I don't blog as much as many of you, but I so appreciate each and everyone of you and wish you well everyday.

Can you tell I'm a little nervous with all this typing? Ha! I just wish I could wake up and it be next week. It's been calm, hot and humid here for a few days, but this morning you can feel the change 'a comin'. The leaves are starting to blow on the trees and it's getting a tiny bit breezy.

Btw, sometimes I think my entire life is a "Birdee Moment". Great blog Mo!

It may be a few days before we have electricity again....but, I'll be back! Until then, love one another. And Carol, that was such a beautiful blog yesterday. We are all one big family (Americans)
and how dare anyone try to destroy us.

See you soon!
Love Ronnie

Okay, I'm back with a couple of Birdee moments. I once wore a bra that hooks in the front to a doctor appt. I had to take off my blouse and as I was sitting on the examination table and talking to the doctor, that darned hook in the front of the bra decided to open on its own! It popped open and they popped out. I was so embarrassed but both the doctor and I started laughing about it.

The other one happened in my early twenties when I was working in an office. I was wearing one of those wrap around skirts--you know the ones that wrap around and then tie on the side? I was sitting at my desk and didn't know that the tie had gotten shut in the top desk drawer. As I stood up to walk away, my skirt came right off! Luckily I had a slip under it!

LynnD, Richard is just adorable!! I love babies. I love how they smell and all those little baby sounds they make. oooh, I just want to hold one right now!!

Goldie, loved your grandbaby grocery story!

Hi Whabbear!

Hi Tinka, come on--tell us your Birdee moment!

Birdee--HI!! Thanks for being today's blog inspiration!

Hi MEK, have a great golf day!

Dreama, Ronnie and any other Texans--please stay safe and let us know how you are when you can. We'll all be praying for you.

Preparing to head out soon, but wanted to:

*congratulate Grandma Lynn and family on the arrival of 'little Richard'!
*send good thoughts to all in Ike's path. Humongous impacts already and we're 12 hours from landfall!
*thank Mo for the smiles this morning. I can relate to all the wardrobe malfunctions, especially the roving underwires!
*say "Sorry, Jodi"...was in the shower when you called at 1 a.m.; didn't mean to make you cry with the song video I blogged, really!
*report my newest daily must-see: 'Paul's 365 Photo Blog'....AND that I made YH''s BABB Baked Beans (YHBABBBBQBB)yesterday...YUMMO!

and speaking of daily blogs....I seldom read Rosie's any more, but caught this morning's and recommend it highly. I am NOT a conspiracy theorist, but there are so many stories not yet heard after 7 years....and I predict that 7 years from now, there'll be Election 2008 stories about Cheney, Rice, Georgia & Russia...........but I'm really trying to not inject politics here. My bad! Feel free to erase me from your monitor. Birdee, you (and I) can use white-out! (lol)

Dreama...Ditto above

Zona Great to see you in the nest first today. Congrats!

Mo What a fun blog! It started my morning with a smile and chuckle. Thank you.

Sandie Loved your stories. A self-opening bra! How c..o..n..v..e..n..i..e..n..t! The skirt story sounded like something out of a sitcom. Too funny!

LynnD Congrats again on the new baby!

Ronnie, Dream, Delores I hope you all stay safe and warm. (((HUGS)))

Custard and I are still chatting, emailing. WTF? Maybe he is coming to his senses and entering the 21st century. Maybe we are being "friends". I have no clue. Whatever happens, happens, I guess. I'm not holding my breath.

Just_Lin said...

Dreama Sorry I left the 'a' off of your name. I hope it wasn't painful. LOL

Tinkatia said...

Sandie - One of my stories is very similar to yours. I was wearing a wrap-around very short skirt. I was standing in front of the choir, conducting "You'll Never Walk Alone." Suddenly the button gave way and the skirt went flying. I was standing there wearing a blouse and a very short slip.
It was not at all funny because the boys were up to 13 years of age and thought it was great fun. I worried for days that I would be reported to the school board. Nothing happened though and the story finally disappeared from the school gossipers. I gave away all my wrap around skirts - never again.

Sandie said...

Tinka!! That must have been horrible for you! I guess we both gave up those wrap around skirts pretty quickly, huh??

Just_Lin, how could Custard do anything BUT miss you and realize what he's lost. Maybe he'll open his eyes and see that the world is full of beautiful colors. :)

Hi Scirish! How's Mom doing?

Hi Bon! I always love whatever you have to say, as it's always said with such grace and intelligence.

Good afternoon everyone. It is a cool, misty, rainy day here in Michigan.
I am still busy with my VFW Aux. Treas. duties. This time of year is hectic for me.
I didn't want you all to think I had forgotten you!

Lynnd, Your new Grand baby is so sweet! I can't wait to see more pics.

Whabby, I read your comment of the day. You are so right! Amen to that lol!

Friends in Ike's path, I am thinking of you and pray that you will be safe and spared heavy damage. Keep us posted if at all possible. You know what worry warts we are!

I am off to get gross-er-ies.
I hope to check back in tonight with a "birdee" moment.

Happy Friday Owls.

Mo, Thanks for starting off my day with a big laugh. I have so many Birdee moments, but I bury them in a deep dark place and I'm not sure, with my failing memory, that I can dig them back up. I will try.

Zona, there you area at first again. Yay for you.

LynnD, awwwww what a cutie. Big congrats to your daughter and the whole family on the birth of Richard Blaine. So glad that you and the Mr. made it safely to the hospital.

MEK, Good golfing in the squishy grass today. Stay out of the rough!

I love reading all of your Birdee moments. I'll be back later when I can remember one...or two...or maybe I should just ask one of my kids. Their memory is so much better.

I'm praying for the safety of all of our Texas Owls who are in Ike's path.

Waving a wing at all the other Owls and hoping you all have a good day.

Hi Everyone! I'm getting ready to go camping with my Girl Scout Troop. It's rained almost all day but it has stopped for now. I don't even care if it rains once we're settled in the cabin, but I hope the rain holds off until we get everything from the vans to the cabin!

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO Grandma Lynn!

Congrats on first zona!

LOVE your avatar goldie!!!!!!!!!!

Mo: Hilarious blog!!! I literally laughed out loud! And I only thought those stupid things happened to me!

Ronnie, Delores & Dreama: You're in my thoughts and prayers. I guess I shouldn't even be complaining about it raining here.

Zona congrats on 1st!

Lynn D congrats on the new grandbaby!

I hope everyone in Ike's path stays safe.

Maureen great blog! The only birdee moments I can think of is wearing my shirt backwards to the doctor's office and not realizing it until I got home. Also those damn dryer sheets that seem to like sticking out of the bottom of my pants. Why wouldn't someone tell you about that? I would. Anyway that's all I can think of.

I have my new glasses. They will take some getting use to but at least I can see. I just have to move my entire head now instead of my eyes. I kind of feel like a robot. Hopefully it will get a little bit more natural with time.
BBL.

whabbear said...

Thanks, Mary/MI!

Hart: Have a great camping trip!

SacBarb: This Ike is turning into a monster. It's something like 60% larger than a normal hurricane. The only good news out of that is that the size is preventing it from intensifying beyond a Cat 3.

Hope all owls in Texas are out of harms way.

Except honorary owl Wanda, of course; I posted about HER activities over on the Rossblog this morning.

Just Lin: The following is meant to put a momentary smile on your face:

Hmmmm. If Cuss Turd has entered the modern world, then you're free to act out your lifelong secret passion!

Got for it, girl! Trot over to Daly City and pick up an Asian guy!

Just_Lin said...

When my second husband and I first started seeing each other, we would go out dancing quite often. One evening we were dancing a slow dance and were pressed up very close to each other, our movements slow and sensuous. I was wearing a very cute, short strapless dress. It consisted of four tiers of dark lace over a sheath, kept up with elastic in the top edge. When the dance was over, we stepped apart and started towards our seats. I then noticed that the dress and been pulled down below my breasts! It was a crowded dance floor. I have no idea if anyone saw or not.

I had one happen last night! After work I got into my car. I put the keys in the ignition and started her up. I then proceeded to open my purse and start rummaging thru it...for my keys! I was freaking out because they weren't there! I panicked for a minute or so, then realized...DUH, they are aleady in the ignition and the freaking car is running!!!!! The first thing I said was "a birdee-ism"!!!!

BIRDEE...you do know I laugh with you, not at you. Well, maybe sometimes at you ;)~

Happy Friday Afternoon/Evening Everyone!

I have been MIA the last few days, getting organized and ready for Phase 2 of Laurie's 3 Heart Procedures. (she got her Pacemaker last month) Phase 3 comes in about 6 months.

She will have her Heart Catheterization and Stent Implant on Thursday, September 18th. My two older daughters, Aimee & Amanda will be with me and we are going to San Francisco the night before, as it is so hard to get up that early to be at the Hospital by 6:00am!

I have been enjoying the Blogs though, and reading all the comments.

LYNN D~ CONGRATULATIONS, GRANDMA!!! Little Richard is adorable! Have you already given him a nickname or staying with the formal name? I am sooooo glad your daughter and SIL were able to move be close to you. Now you can be a real "hands on" Grandma! Statistics, I want weight, length time of birth, you name it! LOL
Everyone asks about the baby. How is Mom and Dad doing?

My "Birdee" moment was at Fisherman's Wharf in SF during Fleet Week many years ago. I used a public restroom, and of course the telltale TP was stuck to my shoe (at least it wasn't tucked into my panties)! and my daughter and friends wouldn't tell me, as we strolled along the pier. Finally, after much giggling and pointing, they told me. And here I thought all that staring from the cute Navy guys was directed at ME!!

Tip Of The Day: ALWAYS check for TP hanging from anywhere on the body or shoes, and make sure that your skirt is not still tucked into your panties either, before exiting the restroom!!!!

SHIRLEY~ I can't wait to see you in your new glasses! Email me a picture, OK? And you will get used to them, I promise!

All my prayers and safe wishes go out to our TEXAS Owls, Dreama, Ronnie, Dee Dee and if there is anyone else lurking, please stay High and Dry! And Safe!

Whabby~ How are the Wedding Plans coming??? Love to you and Jim!

I hope this weekend is enjoyable for all,
Peace and Love, Donna Jean & Laurie Elizabeth

DonnaJean Waving a wing at you. So glad your other daughters will be with you for Laurie's procedure.

Once when going to use the electric can opener, my mother, instead of placing the can in the opener, pressed it up against the bottom of the kitchen faucet and turned the water on! Needless to say, she got sprayed pretty good as did a great deal of the kitchen!

Donna Jean said...

CAROL~ I forgot to mention what a beautiful, heartfelt Blog you wrote yesterday. It really meant alot to me, reading all the comments about how it touched everyone's lives. Some personally knew of or lost someone close to them. Others were not affected that way, but, emotionally, that day will be one remembered forever! Just like the day John F. Kennedy was assasinated.

Each and every one of my Lovely Owls wrote elequent, touching comments. And some were VERY vocal in their feelings. I totally agree with all of the comments.

I especially though liked Tina's reaction to the terrorists!!! I agree, I wouldn't either!!!

And, to SHIRLEY AND OTHER WONDERFUL CITIZENS OF NOVA SCOTIA~ THANK YOU so much for all the kind, and generous things you did for the passengers of all the planes that were diverted to Nova Scotia after the planes were not allowed to fly any more in American Airspace! True Compassion and Love was showed that day by so many! People brought total strangers into their homes for days and fed and gave them a warm safe place to be during those horrible days after 9/11. I stand and applaud all of you!!!!

May days like that never happen again, either here, or anywhere!

Peace, Donna Jean

I am glued to the TV, watching the weather channel, Jim Cantor, I like him, he has been with the weather channel for a number of yrs now.

I really do hope everyone listened to the reports and left the areas that are being hit the most...

Ike is really scary, those waves are so big..

Donna Jean:
Thanks, My thoughts will be with you and Miss Laurie Elizabeth, please keep us posted...

As I told you my dad had a Cath and a stent put in back in July he is 83 and he is doing fantastic, it actually is not that bad of a procedure. It just seemed after the procedure he was dazed and confused, however they put him in ICU, so he was surrounded by very
well trained nurses, after a couple of hrs they put in a room and he came home the next day!

Just thought this would help you!

night.owls.sb said...

Donna Jean:
I forgot to mention, after a stent is put in they usually put the patient on coumadin which is a blood thinner, so a small cut can bleed quite a bit... Oh, wait, Laurie has a pacemaker so she probably is on coumadin already...

Shirley They take a photo with their phone then email it to you. Once you have it in an email, you can download it to your computer and then share with us. I only know that because Jodi told me. :)

MEK- I'm so glad you got to play golf.

Carol- His ultimate dream now would be teach college. I think maybe through school loans would could get buy for a couple of years.

However, he has child support to pay and he can't do that if he becomes a full time student.

He is teaching one online college coarse and he does like that a lot. The pay is horrible, but the job is rewarding.

Lynn d, what a precious bundle you have there!! I think it is true ~ we get the most exhausted being the grandmas. Maybe cause we're older ~ LOL!! God bless your beautiful, new family!

To all the owl in the hurricane area, I hope you all stay safe and sound. Good luck, IKE looks fierce!

Mo, funny blog, I have so many "blonde" moments, as I call them, even though I am a brunette. We all have these moments, LOL.

Good night, owls.

I truly believe it can happen, things happen for a reason, so maybe this little detour in the road, will bring him to do something he has always wanted...

Always sending good thoughts your way!

LynnD:

A quick fly by. If anyone has insomnia then watch FOX news with Geraldo Rivera cover hurricane Ike. That dude has balls of steels. The Strand is underwater, 4 feet of it.
Houston lost power and they say power may be out as far as Dallas and power may not be restored until 2-3 weeks.

Good morning feathered friends.

I am off to both jobs today, so I will be incommunicato until very late tonight. If RONNIE checks in with anyone, can you let me know...either by email, text or call. I can't check here from work, but I can check my email.

Hoping all the Texas owls are safe.
