Laughter is what we need at times, even tho you don't feel much like laughing, a hearty chuckle will make you feel better, even if it is just for a moment, the smile appears, and the laughter begins. For that moment, let it be, don't fight it, as everyone, no matter what the circumstances are deserves laughter.
So today for those of you, that I feel in my heart need it,
I give you a moment of laughter, a moment to smile, a moment just to be.

Thanks, Carol! I needed that! As a freshly minted 50, this subject matter hits pretty close to, er, home. I"ve made a pact with myself that I'll have my first colonoscopy before Christmas.
And... who knows... it may be not a moment too soon. Our good friends Karl and Ann from Oregon had to abruptly cancel their plans to come to the wedding this week. Reason: Karl had a routine colonoscopy, and the results were very bad news. He's now facing full colon removal and a colostomy bag for the rest of his life.
Yes, definitely before Christmas for me.

It has been 12 years and my grandpa is doing fine. At first he didn't want to go out into public because his bag makes noises, but now he doesn't care.

I haven't had a chance to read any blogs, or comments, as we just got home from San Francisco about 2 hours ago, and I needed to get Laurie settled. I will though get caught up this weekend, I promise.
Wow, it has been a long and crazy couple of days.
First off, Laurie's procedure went very well. Thank you all for all your prayers, well wishes and everything, because it must have went from your mouth to God's ear!
Getting the IV in, though, was again a tough procedure. It is so heartbreaking to see your child, no matter how old they are, suffering, and there is not a damn thing you can do about it, because it is a necessary procedure. They tried sedation (not much though if you ask me) numbing cream on the injection site, etc, but everyone involved were extremely kind and gentle.
Laurie had a very handsome Dr., and in fact, she looked up at him and the first thing she said to him was "You look like Neil Diamond", LOL!!! Everyone in the Cath Lab just cracked up!!! I told him it was a very YOUNG Neil Diamond, but you could tell he was kind of embarrassed, but touched! Score another one for Miss Laurie Elizabeth!!
The whole surgery/procedure took almost 5 hrs. They had to put in a larger stent than originally planned, because the blockage to her left ventricle was much larger than had showed up in her MRI.
Here comes the bad news.
When they went to look at the right ventricle, they found ANOTHER blockage that had not shown up in the MRI taken in July. The blockage was too close to the Pacemaker wires that were just implanted last month. So, they could not go ahead and put in another stent, because it could dislodge the pacemaker wires, as they were too new, and hadn't had time to properly heal yet.
So, Laurie must go back in about 2 months, and go through this whole procedure again, to put a stent in her right ventricle!
So, we have good news and bad news. Right now, Laurie is doing very well. She tolerated the procedure very well, and although she didn't eat anything yesterday, (which is to be expected) she ate today.
We are very tired though. It sure takes alot out of everyone, this hospital thing!!!!
Everyone at UCSF was very nice, but this definitely was a "No Frills" hospital stay!!! She was in a Limited Stay Unit, which basically is a fancy Emergency Room! No actual rooms, just beds with curtains, and very limited space. They did have room for a Chair Bed, and my daughter Aimee was kind enough to stay the night with Laurie so I could go back to the hotel and get some sleep.
I am very sorry this comment is so long, another novel. (well, what else is new, you all know me)!

I had no phone service at the hospital, and was too tired to fire up the computer when I got back from the hospital at night, so I just now read my emails.
I will be back tomorrow. We are just going to kick back and relax tonight.
On a totally different subject:
Next week DANCING WITH THE STARS!!!! Laurie was so worried she wouldn't be able to watch! And Sunday are the Emmy's, and Laurie will turn 29 that day! OMG, my BABY only has one year left in her twenties!!
