It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!

This isn't my week. I woke yesterday to a leaking water cooler dispenser. This morning I wake to a linking kitchen sink. I wonder what the third thing will be?
I will read the blog and comments and that will cheer me up.
Jodi - That really cheered me up. It took me back to 1968 when we got our first colour television. We couldn't wait for "Laugh-In" to come on. We knew the colours would be spectacular and they were. Lily Tomlin was so funny and so was the rest of the cast. I had a 3 year old and a baby that year so after they were settled into bed we would enjoy "Laugh-In" I loved Goldie Hawn and still do. She has aged so well. Thanks Jodi for the memories.
Whabbear - I don't know what gremlins are in my kitchen but I know things happen in threes so I am just waiting.
Bear - Thanks for the hug. I needed it this morning. I will have breakfast, take everything out from under the sink and call the repair man. I will be back this afternoon. Hi to all owls who fly in after I fly out.
I forgot to say I uploaded 3 pictures of the winning entries from the Fair. My daughter sent them to me. I didn't find all the entries. The family ended up with 16, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. ribbons plus 4 "Well Done" ribbons. They are very pleased with their efforts this year. I think they are already planning what they will enter and how they will present their entries for next year.

My friend from LA, Angela, and I are planning a trip to Vegas also to see her, but not until next year. Have fun!!! HAPPY VACATION!
Thanks JODI for the wonderful clip from Laugh-IN. That show was so ahead of its time! I was just a teenager, and did not really understand all the relevance of the jokes, but now when I go back and watch re-runs, it just cracks me up even more!!! That, plus the old Smothers Brother's show, wow, THOSE were the shows to watch!!
TINKA~ I am so sorry to hear about all of your leaking problems! It is very frustrating when all those things happen at once. I hope the repairman knows what he is doing. Maybe you should call a real Plumber, even though they are more expensive. I had a "handyman" in, who said he knew how to put in my new kitchen sink, and he totally screwed everything up, and it took him over 8 hours (@$50 bucks an hr) to do what a Plumber could have done in about 2. Plus Home Depot said they would have installed it for only $200 since I bought it there! So, please be careful as to who you hire. Hope the rest of your day goes better, and no more problems!

Good Morning Donna Jean - Thanks for the advice. I did come to that conclusion about plumbing a while ago. I have always had a 'handy man' but my last job was done by a real plumber. My daughter has learned that too. They just had a repair done that cost $4000 but it was done in 2 days. It would have taken the family a week of digging and finding pipes etc. Experienced plumbers are expensive but worth it.

Well, who knew picking out glasses would be so hard. But I finally decided on a pair. Don't ask me what they look like cause I tried on so many I'm not sure. They are sort of straight on the top...I think. I'm pretty sure they were brown...but they may be black. There is some kind of spring things on the arms cause apparently I have a big head.(must be all that brain matter). And did you know that some people have one ear higher than the other? I know, neither did I but apparently I am one of those people. Anyway I will get the glasses in about two weeks and if I can get someone to take a picture of me I will post it on myspace for y'all to see.

Good blog JODI. I always enjoyed Laugh In but I didn't watch re-runs. I am old enough to have watched the real thing! We sat near Lily Tomlin at a casino coffee shop in Vegas a few years ago.
I would be excited to see Cher too. I would like to see Bette Midler also and I did get to see Celine two years ago and that was great!

Dianne_tasseling_in_Denver~ I work at 12:30pm now but had to count the $$$ at church this morning~ I'm off at 11pm~ Honey...the reason Jodi doesn't try the tassels on and swing, is because she'd get a black eye and so would anyone near her! duh!!!!
Well geez Dianne-too-late-in-Denver...you could have told me yesterday that I could get glasses that make me look ten years younger! The friend that took me said the glasses went well with my "colors". I said "you mean my grey hair?" and she nodded.
Goldie were are the brownies? The fridge is full of jello shots and the downstairs freezer is full of slush. Someone keep an eye out for Maureen. She has that damn bird cage Carol gave her.
Well, I have had a good day. So far, the leaking sink has turned out to be nothing. I have had a good nap, a good talk with Zona and a good walk in the warm sunshine with my babies.. Life looks great today.
Jodi - Thanks for the 'blonde comment'. That is so much nicer than thinking I did it was because of 'old-timers'.
Zona - I loved the movie "9 to 5" too. I think I will watch it tonight. I can't wait until "Grey's Anatomy" Season 4 comes out.
Shirley - I also can't wait until I see a picture of you in your new glasses. I'll bet it's cute.
Tina - That's 3 of us that think Zona has a sexy voice: it must be true. I see you had to go for the 69 again. Do I hear the word "addiction"?
Dianne - I would have love to have seen Celine. That is one of my life's disappointments. I know Cher and Bette are great too but it was Celine I was hoping to see.
I am busy making lavender sachets and feeling like a pioneer lady or at least like my ex mother-in-law. She did it every year. We have so much lavender here.

No body today has mentioned the movie "All Of Me" with Lily Tomlin and Steve Martin. Very funny movie. Did anyone see that movie? There are parts of it on you tube I am going to watch later.

Goldie - I just sprinkled the nest with lavender. It really makes you sleep well - as long as you don't have allergies. I love sitting in the sun pulling the seeds off the stems. It brings back memories of long ago for me.
I just boiled eggs (no, not Tina's recipe0 and lordy does it stink in here!! I'm pretty sure that I would have to make excuses if someone came to the door. LOL
Ok- off to watch the republican VP speak. I figure I must listen before I can speak my mind.
I put my leaky water cooler dispenser in my driveway. Brian was going to deliver it to the dump. Within an hour it was gone. I guess someone saw it and thought I was giving it away. I hope it doesn't flood someone else's floor tomorrow. They had to drive onto my property to get it so I can't feel too responsible.
Tinka it sounds like you have quite a selection of movies and TV shows. It must be nice to be able to watch your favorites over and over whenever you want. My Star Trek collection is what I have taped off TV, so it isn't the best of quality. I would love to own the entire original series as well as The Next Generation series and Voyager on DVD. Doesn't look like that is going to happen.

SHIRLEY~ I am sure you picked out perfect frames! The Optician (or the assistant) should help you pick out the right frames for your face. That's what they are paid for! I have been wearing glasses since I was in the 4th grade, and if I had a nickel for all the "wrong" frames I wore, I'd be a millionaire! I now only wear "readers" and I have about 25 pairs of them. Please email me a picture of you in your new glasses. I am sure you will look beautiful! (people nowadays wear glasses without prescriptions, just because glasses are in style and wearing them looks cool)

Shirley - I have a large video collection (over 500) but they will soon be obsolete as soon as they stop making VCR's and mine go on the blink. I would never had collected them if I had known what a short life they would have. Of course now I am buying DVD's and they may disappear soon too as the Blu-Ray comes in. One can not keep up with technology these days. Things are moving so fast.

Tinka or VIG are either of you familiar with the Pacific Life Bible College in Surrey? My nephew just flew out there yesterday? I was just wondering what the area was like. He has to find a part time job. His mother is worried. He's 24 and this is the first time away from home. Anything you could tell me might help her to relax a bit. I told her I would ask. Thanks.
Shirley - I don't know anything about that Bible College in Surrey. I did live and teach in Surrey for three years but that was years ago. It is very different there now. VIG might be able to help. She is traveling right now and I don't know if she will be checking the blog. I will ask her when I hear from her.
Shirley - Blu-ray is a new technology, which utilizes a blue-violet laser to read and write High Definition video. It has five times the storage capacity as traditional DVD's and can hold up to 25 GB on a single disc. It is just higher tech than the DVD's that we have now.
Ok everyone I am going to bed. My eyes are really blurry tonight. In a couple weeks I hope that will all change. Sitting in the dark probably isn't helping.
Tinka thanks for the crash course on Blu-rays. One more question though. Is it technology for the computer or the TV?

However, I just watched the RNC with Sarah Palin accepting the nomination and her speech.
Earlier today they mentioned that her speech was written by someone else. Yes, I know that all the nominees have speech writers. But this one just sent me over the edge!
I believe in my heart of hearts, that McCain only picked her because he thought she would bring in the Women's vote, and also the "special needs" vote, which they expounded upon numerously.
I, as a mother of a "special needs" child was not impressed, and actually offended by her speech.
She, (or the writers) continously stated false statements, or "out of context" statements.
I noticed at the beginning of introducing her, Cindy McCain was holding the baby, Trig, who happens to have Down syndrome, and then hand him off to to the father, and then to another daughter, as the need became apparent. (the standing up and being applauded)
I am sorry if my comments are too controversial for Nest.
I just call them as I see them.
Haven't heard from any of the Owls as to their opinions. I am sure we could have spirited, but respectful discussions.

I forgot to say I uploaded 3 pictures of the winning entries from the Fair. My daughter sent them to me. I didn't find all the entries. The family ended up with 16, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. ribbons plus 4 "Well Done" ribbons. They are very pleased with their efforts this year. I think they are already planning what they will enter and how they will present their entries for next year.

Thanks JODI for the wonderful clip from Laugh-IN. That show was so ahead of its time! I was just a teenager, and did not really understand all the relevance of the jokes, but now when I go back and watch re-runs, it just cracks me up even more!!! That, plus the old Smothers Brother's show, wow, THOSE were the shows to watch!!
TINKA~ I am so sorry to hear about all of your leaking problems! It is very frustrating when all those things happen at once. I hope the repairman knows what he is doing. Maybe you should call a real Plumber, even though they are more expensive. I had a "handyman" in, who said he knew how to put in my new kitchen sink, and he totally screwed everything up, and it took him over 8 hours (@$50 bucks an hr) to do what a Plumber could have done in about 2. Plus Home Depot said they would have installed it for only $200 since I bought it there! So, please be careful as to who you hire. Hope the rest of your day goes better, and no more problems!

Good Morning Donna Jean - Thanks for the advice. I did come to that conclusion about plumbing a while ago. I have always had a 'handy man' but my last job was done by a real plumber. My daughter has learned that too. They just had a repair done that cost $4000 but it was done in 2 days. It would have taken the family a week of digging and finding pipes etc. Experienced plumbers are expensive but worth it.

Well, who knew picking out glasses would be so hard. But I finally decided on a pair. Don't ask me what they look like cause I tried on so many I'm not sure. They are sort of straight on the top...I think. I'm pretty sure they were brown...but they may be black. There is some kind of spring things on the arms cause apparently I have a big head.(must be all that brain matter). And did you know that some people have one ear higher than the other? I know, neither did I but apparently I am one of those people. Anyway I will get the glasses in about two weeks and if I can get someone to take a picture of me I will post it on myspace for y'all to see.

I have been wearing glasses since I was in the 4th grade, and if I had a nickel for all the "wrong" frames I wore, I'd be a millionaire! I now only wear "readers" and I have about 25 pairs of them.

Shirley - Blu-ray is a new technology, which utilizes a blue-violet laser to read and write High Definition video. It has five times the storage capacity as traditional DVD's and can hold up to 25 GB on a single disc. It is just higher tech than the DVD's that we have now.
Zona-my-Baby - You are a sweetheart to do that for me. Maybe if Mr. Zona told me what to buy I could do them myself.
He has done so much for me.

However, I just watched the RNC with Sarah Palin accepting the nomination and her speech.
Earlier today they mentioned that her speech was written by someone else. Yes, I know that all the nominees have speech writers. But this one just sent me over the edge!
I believe in my heart of hearts, that McCain only picked her because he thought she would bring in the Women's vote, and also the "special needs" vote, which they expounded upon numerously.
I, as a mother of a "special needs" child was not impressed, and actually offended by her speech.
She, (or the writers) continously stated false statements, or "out of context" statements.
I noticed at the beginning of introducing her, Cindy McCain was holding the baby, Trig, who
happens to have Down syndrome, and then hand him off to to the father, and then to another daughter, as the need became apparent. (the standing up and being applauded)
I am sorry if my comments are too controversial for Nest.
I just call them as I see them.
Haven't heard from any of the Owls as to their opinions. I am sure we could have spirited, but respectful discussions.

Hi...can't sleep. I have already gone to bed and here I am. I don't usually have this problem but have for the last two nights!
Guess I will have a Pepsi and a donut. Did you bring any Pepsi, JODI. I wonder if it is too early to just go and get a jello shot. It is kind of like fruit for breakfast.

Hey JODI: Look at that big bag of balloons in SHIRLEY's backpack!! I wonder if they are for the end of the convention tomorrow night when they drop all of them! I really can't imagine anything else she would have them for, can you?
JODI, do you have time before you leave for work to kind of mosey around and see what else we can find? It wouldn't be snooping...just kind of cleaning up and taking care of the nest, right? Whoops...I just tripped over some red very tall high hills...one has some feathers on it..weird...looks like chicken feathers..any ideas?
