This Night Owl Blog has given so much! It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"! We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly. And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :) It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!

No blog to a blog!
I am sitting here writing a blog, not sure what it is going to be about, so I am staring at the blank page, and I turn to the TV, and I see a friend of mine on the local news. It was a real estate segment, and he is a Realtor, he actually told me about it, but I forgot, so I was shocked at first to see him, and then I remember that I was suppose to watch. Thank goodness I did see him, because I don't have to lie to him. The segment was about homeowners wanting to buy new homes but not able to sell their home without taking a loss. And many people can't hold two mortgages, so they have to give up on perhaps their dream home to stay in the one they have because at this time its a buyers market. I was just speaking to my dad about this, as our house is a big two family, and our taxes are about 13grand a year. If we were to downsize we would have to sell our home to buy a new one, and with the market the way it is, it would not be enough to buy one the size that we have
now. So of course we are staying put. But I think of all the people who are probably trapped in a home that they paid so much for, and to resell it, they would surly take a loss. My cousin (Aunt Jo's daughter) was thinking of selling her townhouse, as she is now just one, but she would lose
to much money, so she has to stay where she is until the market turns. I guess the way the market is, it works best for a new home owner, they can buy a great home for good price, and hopefully when they are ready to sell the market will be much different..
So, from a no blog to a blog in just a few thoughts, few words. See you never know what the words will bring..
And btw... My friend looked fab on T.V. I can't wait to tell him..

Kgrl, I've been wondering where you've been. I hope you're okay. I'm really sorry your baby didn't work out. I did miss seeing your posts. I look forward to them. If you want a canine companion, keep looking. The right one will come along. Again, I missed you!

ok now I should go to bed. Good night everyone!
Maureen I don't think I have been a bitch here but with my family I probably have been. But then again if they don't want the answer then they shouldn't ask the question.
Sweet dreams, SHIRLEY
Taxes SUCK!! $36,000.00 for me. Just one house. I need a second job just to pay the dang things! Amazing how they go up consistently, but it takes divine intervention to bring them down!
$36,000 a year in property taxes???????? WTF???
I pay a little over a $1000 a year and I have it configured right into my mortgage payment. But then again this is the midwest!
Yikes Bonacci you must have a humongus house for taxes like that. And I thought ours were high!!
I'm not sure if the prop. taxes are the same throughout Calif. or just by the county, but here they figure it at 1.25% of the value of the house.
How long will you be in Italy??
Shirley you are AMAZING and I think you're funny and def. not a bitch!
Congrats on all the 69s today!
Mo you made me LOL about DUOMO.
MR. EBJ did something cute. He stopped at Coldstone on the way home for one of their yummy banana splits.
When I got home form work, he said a little birdie left me a gift in the freezer (meaning the bird I took to the wildlife place this morning!)
There is nothing on tv tonight that we like... and Survivor is almost over. At least the Bachelorette starts next week! haha
Bonacci Isn't it nice that you can take your group of friends here along on your travels? You pay a lot in taxes, too. I guess I am very lucky to have been in the same house since '71, plus I paid it off years ago.
Shirley You are exactly right. They shouldn't ask the question if they don't want to hear the answer. I hope you sleep well.
Who gave Shirley the crack? LOL
Bonacci..
36K on taxes.. geez I choked on my water, when I read that..
Shirley..
You are so right.. Life is way to short..
I am totally craving chocolate cake, with a chocolate cream filling and ganache frosting...and diet pepsi!! I know I am weird!
MO Please don't make me start thinking about chocolate.
JUST LIN...Don't even think about it! I'll do it for you!
In case anyone cares, I'm going to get ready for work shortly. We have dorms here in Geneva, so we can pretty much walk to work. The
Avatar I'm using is a small part of the Collider I'm working in (It's a circular machine that has a 17 mile circumference).
Today (Thursday) I'm going to sneak into France via the underground tunnel that houses the Collider. We don't go through any border control, so I feel evil. Like an illegal immigrant. I plan to go topside once I get there just so I can say I did it. I wrote a "novel" about the last time I tried to go there legally, but I think it's too long for a blog. Carol, I can e-mail it to you and you can cut it up or make it a multi-part blog. I'll send it and you can do what you want with it.
Mo, I've got 8 people who are coming to my house in Vigo on Friday. We're all going to spend the day in and around Piazza San Marco. We're going to have tiramisu and gelato (and anything else we can get our hands on) in your honor. I will write about it. Thank you for the suggestion, and we're all looking forward to our field trip.
Also, look for a blurb about Zia - the 78 year-old woman who lives in my Vigo house. Something to make us all aware of the importance of taking care of our elders, and the way some people forget them.
Just for clarification; Our field trip starts Friday with a sleep-over. We'll drive to Piazza San Marco Saturday morning and maybe stay overnight at an inn. We all need a little down-time.
Mo,
I had ice cream, I totally gave into my crave.. try it, you will love it..
Bonacci,
Oh my, so interesting, I should read up on what your doing.. BTW is seeing it topside better than bottomside?
EBJ...
I am sure Mr EBJ, is so looking forward to the Bachelorette.. lol
Nite all, I am off to bed...
♥♥♥
Well, it looks like I don't know how to post on backberry and I have tried three times on laptop and lost all of them. I give up. Night
Good night, Dianne.
Carol, the "underside" is just a big-ass machine. There are access points where you can get out in Switzerland and France. Like gopher holes. As you'll see from the doc I just sent you, I try not to "officially" enter France. I'll just go above ground, jump up and down (maybe look around a little), then retreat. I would like to have lunch there, and will probably try, but I don't want to get caught there without proper documentation. I'll let everyone know how it goes.
The last two standing on AI are not the ones I thought would be.
