PET PEEVES

by Maureen

I have been thinking about things that bug me. Maybe as I am aging I am losing my tolerance or maybe just feeling I have earned the right to express my thoughts. Whatever the case is...you get to be the recipients of my rants!!

1. DECIMATING THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE. It is like people just make up words or they completely skipped their English classes in school! And I am talking about college graduates!! Maybe if they were really intending to make up words it wouldn’t bother me so much! And, don’t even get me started on when someone wants to “AXE” me a question! Ggrrrrr!

2. LEAVING THE SINK SURROUND SOAKING WET. I work with animals! I guess I should count my blessings that at least they wash their hands! But gimme a break! How hard is it to wipe down the counter when you finish washing your hands? I am sick of bellying up to the sink and my shirt getting soaked. C’mon people, show some simple respect.

On a similar note...

3. PEEING ON THE TOILET SEAT. Does anyone really think I want to enter a stall and see a pee covered seat staring me in the face? I think not. Clean up your own fricking bodily fluids!

4. LIES. Why do people lie? What makes someone a pathological liar? Do they really think I am stupid? Guess what? I’m not! Ok, if I ask someone if I look fatter, I will accept the lie when they say no. But blatant lies just piss me off!

5. GROUP OUTINGS / OCCASIONS WHEN SOME PEOPLE DON’T PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE. We had a party at work and I ended up paying $10 for 3 chicken wings, 1 slice of pizza and a tsp of spinach dip! WTF?? Another time one gal brought 1 qt. of juice and took a freaking mound of food. It just plain pisses me off!

6. SELFISHNESS. In so many different incarnations I find selfishness to be just plain ugly. Whether it is being insensitive to others feelings, disregarding what others are feeling only to fulfill your own needs and not helping when help is needed. To me it shows lack of self respect and even greater lack of respect for others...especially when you profess your friendship.

7. WHEN THE WRONG PERSON GETS VOTED OFF REALITY TV! Just plain ires me. No need for discussion here!!!

8. BAD DRIVERS. The ones that drive without their lights on at night; have no brake / backing lights; don’t clear the snow off all their windows or the top of the car, only to have if blow off onto my car; tailgate; cut me off or drive way the hell under the speed limit! Get a clue!

9. ME. For writing such a long-assed blog!

I've been refreshing for 45 mins haha

Good thing I was already awake and didn't wanna sleep in on my day off..The landlord decides to come chainsaw the tree that had come uprooted and fell on the neighbor's fence lol

LOUD!

Maureen, good blog!! I have a list of petpeeves too, but need to completely wake up 1st lol

LMAO@your #3!

"If you tinkle on the seatie, be a sweetie and wipe the seatie" lol

I think that's how it goes!

lol@"q"..Congrats on 1st and 2nd scirish!

How did I know Tina sneaked in here? hehe..Morning to you and LynnD also!

Btw, I posted a long post on yesterday's blog..around comment 324 or so!

Birdee said...

Mo, Good blog! I have the same pet peeves...no matter how many time's I tell myself..'Don't sweat the small stuff'..I still do!
Never could understand why people don't wipe up after themselves. Who would want to be seen as a sloppy pisser????

Birdee said...

Well....you all snuck in on me!! ;o)

Nice to see you all!!!

scirish said...

Great blog Mo!!

I have many of the same pet peeves, although number 6 would be at the top of my list. 3,5 and 8 would tie for second.

I have a friend who basically is a nice person, but if you told her your house had blown up she would say "That's too bad" and then move on to whatever drama is going on in her life at the moment. I don't think she is a selfish person, more like self-centered. I've called her on it and she apologizes, but then reverts back to doing the same thing.

scirish said...

LOL...I knew you all would not let that "q" go by..........

Zona said...

MO: Great blog! I swear it's like fingernails on a chalkboard to me when I hear people say they were "conversating". I've googled it and some say it is a word, some say it isn't. I always thought it as 'conversing'. In any case..it makes my teeth hurt..lol..

One of my pet peeves is when Mr Z leaves one cookie in the package, one brownie in the pan, one sip of milk in the bottle. He swears he just wants to leave some for me..oh sure..and the dirty dish to clean too... ;)

I loved your blog today MO..and it wasn't too long!!

Birdee said...

scirish, one of my friend's would call me all the time for favor's, especially babysitting. She was a foster mom. At the time, my nerve's were not so good. When I told her I wasn't up to watching a toddler, that's the last I've heard from her. I still consider her a friend though.

JoeyfromSC said...

LMAO@ "axe me a question" ..I hate that too!!! You should hear people in this town and how they butcher stuff! OH LORD! lol

Hate working in the public for that reason! Did they just NEVER learn proper English or don't care? lol

I really hate lying too...Especially petty stuff!! My little brother(god, love him, but..) he does that on occasion!! At least save the lie for something worth lying about lmao

My pet peeves:

1. ignorance lol...People that just act like they are clueless and/or stupid..I have no tolerance or patience for it haha

2. People who "stand you up"..Do NOT tell me you'll be there at a certain time and be late, or worst yet, never show or call!! WTH? It's just plain rude!! lol

3. leaving crumbs/mess all over the kitchen when you prepare food..Hello, clean up your mess! lol(maybe I'm just OCD)

I'm sure I have more, but that's all I can think of right now lol

Have a great Tuesday y'all!

Oh and Maureen, the selfishness one drives me nuts too!! I guess some people only think of themselves..I always put myself LAST!

JoeyfromSC said...

20!!!!!!!!!!!!

Birdee said...

Morning Zona, I think Mr. Z and Mr. B are related!!! LOL

I just love finding empty container's in the cupboard and frig!!

Another one is, when he doesn't wipe off the table after he's eaten!

JoeyfromSC said...

oh and I know it's not funny scirish, but when you said "if your house blew up.." ..that cracked me up! lol

That's sad she's that way!!

Birdee said...

Joey!! your #3...same as mine??!!
Mr. B would drive you CRAZY!!!!

JoeyfromSC said...

Birdee, you read my mind lol

Also, my number 1 on my list...I'd say 90% of people in this hick town, are that way! LMAO

Sad, but true!! I miss VA for several reasons..My Aunt's there, my great friend Michelle, the climate, AND most importantly...EDUCATED people with CLASS!!!! haha

JoeyfromSC said...

typing at the same time birdee!! lol

My brother was bad for it when he was here!! drove me insane lol

JoeyfromSC said...

Ohhh and one of my biggest of all....If you are on a call with me, and you click over to get the other call..DO NOT leave me hanging for 5-10 mins(yes, I'm dumb and have held that long! LOL)

SO rude!! You should finish the call with me(hello..the 1st person you were talking to should come first lol) THEN take the other call..Don't mind if you click over to say I'm busy..let me call u back or something..but sheesh!! lol

Ok

My biggest pet peeve of late is with a volunteer at the food bank. For some reason this woman thinks that she is the world and we all revolve around her. If she has an idea we are supposed to jump to and make it so. I have put up with this so that we would not have conflict but last week I snapped. She was emptying boxes and throwing them into piles. I had noticed she has done this in the past and wondered when she was going to break them down and take them to recyler. Silly me I forgot she was the Queen.

Any way she had her usual pile last Wednesday and then had the nerve to come up to me and ask "When was I going to assign someone to break down the boxes and take them out" I looked at her and said your elected! "If you make the mess you get to clean it up!"

I know not polite but I had just had it. I explained to her that this was a group effort and that we all take time to break down cardboard, sweep floors, etc... NO ONE is above doing the chores.

People pulling their weight is a big Pet Peeve.

Oh yeah the language thing. I axed my neighbor to be pacific, but they did'nt know what the hell I was talking about!

Mo: Great Blog! Great Pet Peeeves!

scrishy: Congrats on first

All: I miss everyone. I dont' get on here much and I am sorry. Seems that all I do is come and apologize and then go MIA again. Just doing a walking challenge and walking like crazy.

Birdee said...

My pet peeve for the last few day's...My Mother has Not returned my phone call! I didn't even see her on Mother's Day, because she wasn't home. Called her twice!
I know she's ok, cuz my sister live's with her and if she wasn't, I would know that.

If I call her again and ask her why no return call, she'll just say...'oh, I forgot'!!!!
Happen's everytime!
Sure glad she can still get those school kid's to the right school! LOL

Bebbilane said...

If you get a chance, check out my facebook pics. I have a good one of me now with my new thin ness.

JoeyfromSC said...

LMAO@Lynn!! OMG that's my other one! lol

At work, people NOT pulling their load..AND not breaking boxes down AS YOU EMPTY THEM!!! It's so much easier..Don't leave it for someone else to do! lol

Okay, stepping away now..getting stressed haha

Lynn D said...

Morning to Joey, Scrishy, Tina, and Birdee!

Good Morning JOEY, TINA and LYNND!

The in-laws are gone..and hearing about the week ahead for TINA, I think I had it easy.

One thing that really upset us though, was that my SIL held the front door open while she talked to her sis and Mr Z. Nikki took the opportunity to run out the door after my BIL. Only she didn't stop, she kept running..she got about half way across the street and turned to look at us. Then she took off again. Mr. Z and I went after her while the inlaws just watched. We had taken Nik's collar off, cuz they all said it jingled too much and kept them awake. So she was running down the street with no tags. It took Mr Z about 15m to corner her..then Lady, the dog across the street who always gets out, started barking. Nik ran right over to her gate...and Mr. Z was able to grab Nik and pick her up. She promptly peed all over him. He didn't care, we were just so happy she was safe.

Inlaws...sheesh...

Lynn D said...

Oh I see Mr. Birdee is related to Mr. Z and Mr. Lynn D!

Joey I hate call waiting!!!! I do not have it as I think it is the rudest thing in the world. Especially if you called me! It is like saying you are less important than the new person calling. Also do not have a side conversation with another person in your house while you are on the phone! It is rude and confusing! Like you said just tell me you will call back! Fine with me!

Ok now my blood pressure is rising! Need to calm down.

scirish said...

It is a proven fact: Most men cannot see crumbs!

Zona said...

LYNND & BIRDEE: Do your hubby's channel surf so fast you can't even get an idea as to what's on TV?? Mr Z will tune to a channel..and just as the commentator says "Watch closely, because you'll never see anything like this again..." he changes the channel!! Drives me batty! If I say a word..his standard answer is.."Wha? What did I do?"

Morning BEBBI!

Zona said...

BIRDEE: My sister has non-returncallitis too. Her explanation? "Well, it didn't sound too important..I would have gotten back to you." grrrr..

Shirley(NCC-1701) said...

OK my biggest pet peeve is when I go to a blog to read comments and everyone is just bitching about everything...like:
"people don't turn their lights on when driving"
"people butcher the english language"
"people pee on the seat"
"people leave crumbs on the counter"

You get my drift. It just annoys me! Give these poor people a break. Now let me axe y'all something...didn't Mo write an awesome blog????

You all know I was kidding about the other sruff right? It all bugs me too. Also when people wear pants that the crotch is hanging at the knees or lower and the underwear is showing. Guys I know "it" is suppose to be able to swing freely down there and not get all bunched up but come on, pull up your pants and get a belt! Please! OK I have to go. I am on mother duty this afternoon. There is nothing like being somewhere that you know the person doesn't want you there. Mothers, you have to love them cause otherwise you would kill them. ijs :0)

Maureen your long ass post was too damn long!! Next time axe Carol to shorten it for you!

Scirish congrats on q! Do I have to make a new catagorie! I'm just axin!

goldie said...

Good Morning Hooters and congrats on q to you scrishy!!

Great Blog Mo!

My pet peeves are tardiness, people who say ""110" percent. There is no such thing. 100 percent is as high as it goes. The whole enchilada so to speak!!

Also when people say Warsh. Where is the R in wash??? Show me, then you can say warsh.

Had an interesting night. Got home from work and walked in the house and there was my youngest son! He said "Happy Mothers Day- a day late!" I was so happy.............
His father was in on it and had picked him up from the airport about 1/2 an hour before I got home. I have him until Thursday.

Then we took the dog for a walk. I did a header onto the pavement. This is right after I picked up Peppers poop. I have road rash on my pinkie finger and bled like a stuck pig. Also hurt my shoulder. BUT- as i was flying thru the air I had 2 thought. Don't hit your head (I didn't) and don't land on the poop bag (I didn't). LOL

Ok, off to ice my shoulder and get something done!

Zona said...

GOLDIE: OUCH! Now don't be like me and make a habit of falling! ;) I hope your shoulder feels better..and take care of that pinkie too! Enjoy the time with your son..how great that he surprised you!

Usually cuz one or all three dog's are laying on one of us! We hate to wake them up! LOL
But, we do meet up in the kitchen on occasion! ha!!!!

whabbear said...

LOL@everybody this morining! Here's the one I'll add to the list: Bank of America telemarketers! I"m a B of A customer, I don't need them calling me on the pretext that I'm a loyal customer to get me to purchase something from them!

Last week it was the "free" credit report scam. Like we all don't know that these are ALWAYS tied into a subscription to a credit reporting service that will start charging you a fee unless you cancel within 30 days!

So this telemarketer calls me up last week and offers me the usual scam about a free report, and I started to string him along... gushing about how wonderful it would be to get a report, etc. Then he slips in the verbal fine print, and I called him on it, telling him directly, in NO uncertain terms, that I'd be DELIGHTED to get a free credit report as long as it was NOT attached to a subscription.

Of course, I kind of play dumb, forcing him to explain, over and over, that he can't do that. IT was like a computer program:

Program *harass telemarketer*

Let I = 1.
For I = 1 to 5:

ME: "But I don't understand". You called me and promised me a free credit report. I'm just trying to take you up on your offer. Send me the free credit report".

HIM: "I will, sir, but the offer comes with a free subscription to blah blah blah..."

ME: But I just want the credit report. Please send just that".

HIM: "I can't, sir. It's a package".

I = I + 1; Return.

ME: SLAM! *sound of phone hitting receiver*

nice "q", scrishy! :)
Goldie: Congrats on getting son for a few days!

End of Program.

whabbear said...

Oopsies! The comments to scrishy and Goldie were NOT supposed to be part of the program! LOL!

whabbear said...

Zona: LOL at your pet peeve with Mr Z!

JoeyfromSC said...

lmao@whabbear!! There's always a catch!:(

I also forgot to say to zona: I was laughing SO hard outloud at your remote/hubby issue!!

The part about "you will never see anything like this again"..Got me!! that's a visual lol

East Bay J said...

Good morning!

Congrats on q this morning Scrishy!

Love the blog today Mo, and your list is similar to mine.

Shirley got one of mine too, the pants crotch hanging down to the street.

Around here, the boys who wear their pants like that hold the crotch up while walking, so it looks like they are constantly grabbing their "junk". They also wear their baseball hats sideways which looks ridiculous.

At work, it drives me crazy when men leave the toilet seat up. God forbid they leave pee on the floor or rim.

One of my biggest is the language issue.

One day last week, a young gal and her boyfriend came in to the clinic for treatment of Chlamydia.

I gave them each their antibiotics. The boyfriend whispered something to me in what I think was ebonics. I told him I'm sorry, but I can't understand what you're trying to say.

He repeated himself twice, then finally I had him write it down. He was asking for 2 more doses of antibiotics for his "friends".

It was pretty pathetic!

I might be able to think of more, after I have my cawfee.

I must finish reading Area 51!

Hope everyone has a nice day today!

Birdee said...

another pet peeve....Mr. B axing me Everyday.....What's for Dinner?

How the hell do I know!

JoeyfromSC said...

ROFLMAO@birdee!!!!

Hey EBJ! that is sad! lol

Oh, and I hate reading something on blogs(not here lol) and people misuse the words:

anyone gonna march with me!?

Oh , I forgot who but that was so funny about the daughtry pic being mistaken for Vin Diesel lol

JoeyfromSC said...

sixty-sex!

JoeyfromSC said...

69!!!!!!!!!!

JoeyfromSC said...

yahee lol

I thought of another!

I HATE when companies change products!! If it "ain't broke, don't fix it"

I am not against change by no means..But for example..Is Pepsico too lazy to put "mountain dew" on the bottle now..WTH is "MTN DEW"? lol

Text speak on bottles? lol

And I remember how mad I was when KitKat lost the famous silver inner lining..Hershey bars did too!!

And they keep redesigning sunkist and other soda labels..Actually, I do love the new design/packaging for Baked Lay's!! COOL!

I also love their new Baked Southwest Ranch! YUM!

but seriously..It's like soon, we're not gonna even recognize familiar products in the stores!

Anyone else "peeved" by this as am I? LOL

Lynn D said...

Whabbear it is only and additional $14.95.....but wait there's more! LOL

You guys are cracking me up this morning!

I have decided there is a super secret play book for husbands as they all use the same excuses and blank looks!

See ya all later taters!

JoeyfromSC said...

me again! lol

OH and sometimes, the recipes change too!(Don't get me started on less ounces in products/smaller amounts, but prices go up)

I noticed a while back that Cap'n Crunch got smaller lol..The actual cereal itself!

I can't think of anymore, but that's annoying though when the actual "taste" is different..oh, another is the KFC coleslaw!! The day I went in to get my free piece of grilled chicken, I got coleslaw because I have ALWAYS loved it!
Well, it's not as good lol

The taste was almost identical to the old one, but they are cutting the cabbage differently now..tasted different to me lol

OFF my soapbox for now..Need to do laundry and clean!

Birdee said...

Damn Joey!!! I was "this" close to getting 70 before you. LOL

I agree, not crazy about new packaging on some product's. Also don't like it when I buy something at the store one week and then the next week, they no longer carry it!! Been griping to Mr. B about this for awhile. Since he work's for the store's, I tell him to tell the Power's That Be...I don't like it!! LOL

scirish Congrats on q! Are you sure you didn't cheaqt?

MO Great blog today! I was thinking of writing about bad drivers ever since my experience the other day. I was behind another car and we were at least a block away from a signal that turned yellow. It should have been obvious there was not enough time to get through the intersection. When the driver finally decided he wasn't going to make it, he stopped about a third of the way through the intersection. I had stopped way far behind him because I knew this would happen so he had plenty of space to reverse and get his car behind the line, which he did. I kept at least a car length between us because I knew what would happen next. Sure enough, the light turns green, he steps on the gas and shoots backwards because he never took the car out of reverse. Finally, he is going in the right direction and I am following him onto the freeway. I continued driving behind him for a couple of miles and his left turn signal was on the entire time!

Everyone that I have ever heard use the word "axe" instead of ask, has been from the south so I guess it is a regional thing. I knew someone from the south who said that and she also said she was going to "make groceries". Okay, I know how to shop for groceries but I don't know how to make them. Even if I knew how to make corn flakes, I wouldn't want to.

Goldie I hope your shoulder and finger are starting to feel better. Good job avoiding the poop.

JoeyfromSC said...

Hey JL!! Wow, what an idiot driver lol

LMAO@not wanting to make cornflakes!

Birdee, my apologies in advance to your "kind", but why do people in the CITY LIMITS insist on having LOUD crowing roosters? LOL

I told my honey to bring his gun next time he comes over, and we're gonna have some chicken dinner! LMAO

I try to sleep with my bedroom window open, and I think daylights saving time has him confused..because around 4:30 am he starts his loud crowing! Drives me insane!! lol

It's behind a house that is behind mine and to the left lol

Close enough to annoy me!

JoeyfromSC said...

oh and duh..Sorry about 70 birdee hehe

that was listed.

Tinkatia said...

I am going to "pull a Shirley" now and march to 100 because I think I am alone.

Just_Lin said...

Tinka Great march to 100!

Joey Wow! You got 25, 50 and 69 today! You must be tired. LOL

Birdee I HATE it when the store stops carrying something that I really love. That has just now happened to me again!

Also, my husband used to ask me "What are you having for dinner?" WTF? Did he think I was only cooking for me and not him? Did he think I was a diner and having a nightly special? Usually, I'd be a smartass and reply "The same thing you're having".

Tinkatia said...

I did it. Now I can relax.

Greetings to East Bay J, Just-Lin and Mek. Have a great day.

I think my two biggest pet peeves are people who push ahead of the line, whether it's at the airport, meat counter or where-ever. I like it when ropes are set up to keep people in one straight line. I think being short doesn't help. It's so easy for tall people to push us little ones aside.

It also annoys me that in my experience men get better treatment on the phone when calling with a request or problem. Many times I have tried calling and asking a store clerk or administrator and absolutely got no help. Then I have had a male friend or relative call with the same request and get instant results. I think having a young voice for an old lady doesn't help the situation. Maybe I could take something to deepen my voice. Any suggestions?

Tinkatia said...

Now for that cup of tea. See you all later. Love, Tinka

Tinkatia said...

Hi Just-Lin - I wasn't alone in the nest. Thanks for keeping me company and letting me have 100.

Tinkatia said...

Maureen - I forgot to say, "What a great blog". That is the first thing I should have written, not the last. I am sorry. I love you.

Maureen said...

I can only sneak in for a moment. The comments are cracking me up!

SHIRLEY...you are so witical! I wish I had your witicality. I try 100% to be witful then I turn around anf try another 10%...does that equal 110%?? LOL! I may live a little south of Cleveland, but I don't think that qualifies as living in the south...I'll go axe someone!!

Gotta run to the restroom before my break is over, hopefully the seat will be neat and the counter dry!

Oh, one more quick pet peeve...a friend was over for dinner. I had set the table with pretty cloth napkins. After dinner he proceeds to pick up the napkin to blow his nose in it! EWWWW. That was his last dinner invitation!

Gotta go. Thanks again for the fun comments!

Just_Lin said...

MO OMG! Blowing his nose in your cloth napkin! That is so very, very wrong! Totally uncouth!

One pet peeve I just remembered is people who leave the cupboard doors ajar and drawers slightly open! WTH? How hard is it to give it that last push?

Ok have to go out and carry or gather or What ever you want to call it, get grosseries!

Mo, Good to know...never blow my nose in your napkins! LOL

Birdee said...

So much for my resting..ha!

I talked with the vet tech's about Boz...They did his EKG, Xray...his heart look's good, not enlarged and lungs were good too. In fact, the girl said the Vet commented, that Boz was the healthiest Boxer she has seen in awhile! Yippeeee!!!

But, my next question was, could his blood test have been a False Positive????
Last night he got out and ran. He's restricted from running. But, when I got him in the house he wasn't breathing hard at all. No panting, no rapid heart beat....nada, nothing! Totally fine. So, I may have them redo the test. In fact, unless something change's, he doesn't have to stay the night, he can come home.
I dont' get it.....but, I'm happy!

Thanks for wishing my dog's well!

Birdee said...

Mo and Carol, Thanks again for today's blog! Instead of sitting here worrying, I'm LMAO!!!

Carol, miss you popping in today. You must be very busy at work, which is a good thing! ;o)

Youse guys are cracking me up!!!!

I just came across another peeve: I was "preshopping" on line for a dress for the funeral. I found one at Target that would work and of course, it's not sold in the store. Soooo, since it's on sale I decided to spring for the one day shipping which is almost as much as the dress. My estimated delivery date???? May 15th!!! Hello???? I do believe today is the 12th?

Just_Lin said...

scirish Apparently, it's going to be a really long-ass day. LOL

Birdee I missed it. What did Boz test positive for?

Birdee said...

finally got the dishes done..
Joey, how are you doing on your chores?? lol

J/L, Boz tested pos. for heartworms!
I cried all day when they told me.
(Plus, he and Ruby, both had urinary infection's.) It's so hard sometime's to get that med through their hair and onto the skin.

The vet did call again and has now decided to keep him all night. He's still doing well, she just want's to be on the safe side as far as him staying still and quiet.
Which, I've now decided is fine, since Ruby and Pepper will prolly want him to play if he come's home.

Scirish, Hope that dress get's to you in time. Maybe it will come tomorrow. Crossing my finger's!

Just_Lin said...

Birdee I'm not familiar with that preventative medication. The one I used was Heartgard which is an oral monthly med. I have used a topical one for fleas. Is Boz receiving treatment now?

Tina~in_ut said...

Mo~ the only one I really agree with is #9~ :)~

My pet peeve: ONLY GETTING 4 HOURS NOTICE THAT 4 PEOPLE ARE ON THEIR WAY TO STAY OVER A WEEK AT MY HOUSE WHEN THEY ONLY NEED TO BE THERE FOR 3!!!!

My other pet peeve: NOT BEING TOLD WHEN SAID 4 PEOPLE ARE LEAVING AND OVERHEARING A CONVERSATION WHERE THEY TELL OTHERS WHEN THEY ARE LEAVING!!!

Tina~in_ut said...

one more: when people mistake Daughtry for Vin Deeeeesssseeellll!!!!!!! :)~

Just_Lin said...

Tina LMAO! Sorry, but I had to enlarge the picture to be sure. How am I supposed to know? You might have a thing for Vin Diesel! LOL

Lani said...

MO - You started a very humorous conversation with your blog today.

SHIRLEY - Still LMBO @ your comment. You would definitely make it as a stand up comedian.

What stand out in my head as a peeve is when someone has 30 years of stuff, crap, etc. accumulated in the garage and spare closet and will not clean any of it out. I am talking about old pieces of wire, telephones from the 50's, boxes of magazines as old as 30 years. That is just touching the surface.
Then their is the 35 year old pickup truck from hell. It looks like something one would find in front of an abandoned farmhouse. It refuses to die. There are holes on the floorboard and the body is rotting away. I am waiting for the day that the disaster on wheels takes loads of "stuff" to the dump and breaks down and stays there.

Well, at least I don't have any annoying qualities....just ask SLIN. LOL (really loud)

Lani said...

BIRDEE - I know the treatment for heartworm is wicked stuff, but all of the cases I have seen treated worked out well. I hope Boz will be back to good health soon.

The other day I put the necklace on Shadow and then I asked my sil if he would put it on Murphy. He thought I meant both at the same time. I almost s--t bricks when I saw it on both of them. I had visions of them going off in two different directions. I got it off of them in time.

Just_Lin said...

Slan LOL about the beloved truck. :)

Lani said...

My mistake....the truck from hell is 40 years old!!!!! 40 years old this year.

Lani said...

Speaking of grammar....I just caught a glimpse of my first post and noticed at least two errors....just think...I had proofed it....how sad.

Zona said...

MEK: Waving madly back..well semi-madly..it's kinda hot for that much waving.. ;)

BIRDEE: LOL about how you solved the channel surfing problem!

I'm glad to hear that Boz is doing better..I know how much you love your pups.

BEAR: I can't stand telemarketers. We are on the Do Not Call list..and they still call..that's something else that bugs me. Why have a list that no one pays any attention to?

JOEY: Congrats on 69!

goldie said...

Yesssssssssssssssss!! got 125!

Another pet peeve. If you are called for a meal someone else (namely me) made, you better sit your ass down. Ask Mr. Goldie. When we first started living together I made a huge breakfast for him. I called him 3 times (what did he want, an ingraved invitation?) Well, when he finally ventured it I was sitting and eating my breakfast. He looked around and then finally asked "where's Mine?" oh so innocently I looked up and said, "Didn't think you wanted it, so its in the trash" I just kept eating and after he got over the shock he ate cereal. I never have to say 'food is on the table' more than once- maybe twice. Never more again..... :)

sacBarb said...

Happy Tuesday Owls.

Mo, Great blog. I have all the same pet peeves as you plus a bunch more.

I hate when I am driving down the street with no behind me for a mile and someone pulls out from a side street or driveway in front of me. They couldn't wait for ONE car???

Zona said...

JOEY: I noticed that Reeses are smaller. I hardly ever eat them, but when I do..I want the whole 'bad for me' effect..or what's the point? I always had just enough Diet Coke to drink with them..now I have some left over... ;)

J/L: It's just as annoying when drivers don't use the turn signal at all. Mr Z always says "Oh, I guess they don't put turn signals on 2008 Hondas..." or whatever the make of the car. Come to think of it..him saying this gets annoying too... lol...

TINKA: Love seeing you marching to 100! I think all counters should have those 'Take a number' machines..it's the only way to be fair.

sacBarb said...

Birdee, My hubby watched TV in the family room and I watched it in the bedroom. We had a business phone and our home phone and he would call me from the family room to say 'Hi.' He also stopped to 'visit' on his way to/from the bathroom.

Also, he never asked me "what's for dinner" after I answered, "whatever you're cooking."

Zona said...

LYNND: Cupboards open? Mr Z has probably just been there..especially if the lights are left on too!!

TINA: LMAO! And feeling bad for you too..Freedom is only a few days away..

LANI: 30 years of stuff?? An old car in the back? You were at my house and didn't say HI?? LOL!!

HI SACBARB! Thanks again for the texts over the weekend..they really helped!

OK you guys axed for it. Here's my rant.

I go to a specific resturaunt, (which shall be nameless but begins with a big M)and I get none other than a trainee (16 yr old kid who barely speaks above a whisper and looks down at his feet the whole time). I ask for med fries, chocolate shake and cheese burger with ketchup. Here's the best part. Trainee finally takes time away from looking at his fasinating shoes to look at me and asks...wait for it...wait for it...wait...ok..."Do you want cheese on that?" WTF!!!? Helloooo!! Anyone home????? Did I not just ask for a cheese burger and does that not come with cheese???? This has happened to me not once, not twice, but several times. If these are trainees then someone needs to train them that a cheese burger contains cheese! ijs!

Someone calls and tells me they will be there in 10 minutes. 20 minutes later I am still waiting. What time zone are they in? Next time let me know when you call. ijs!

Birdee said...

Goldie, Good one...for getting Mr. Goldie to come eat!!!

I did something along the same line with Mr. B. He feed's the dog's in the morning and I feed them at night. He's been told over and over to pay attention to how low their food is getting. Since I don't have my car now, he has to stop at the store. Well, one day, there wasn't any food left for them and he forgot to get it. I was making dinner, in he walk's. Say's dinner smell's good, and went in the living room to relax. I finished making dinner and proceeded to give it to the dog's! Never said a word to him, he came out looking for his plate of food...Surprise!!! He could not believe I gave it to the dog's!
Told him I would do it everytime if he couldn't remember to bring dog food home!!

Shirley(NCC-1701) said...

Going to a store to get a specific special on the first day of the sale only to find out the don't have any. Then trying to find a sales clerk to ask (axe) when they will be getting it in only to find out that they don't know and probably won't be getting it. THEN DON"T PUT IT IN THE DAMN FLYER!!!!!! ijs!

TINA - What?!!? You're not having fun with your IN-LAWS?!!?

MO - Great blog!!! I live with 3 boys....so my biggest pet peeve is when they "sprinkle when they tinkle"!!! And I learned a long time ago that you don't say their name or "axe" them a question while they're in there otherwise they will spray the walls for you too!!!

GOLDIE - What a great surprise!! Did you do a full or half gainer...so you wouldn't fall into the poo?!!?

Waving a wing @ the rest of you!!

Goldie, OMG, my best friend Sharon the Chaperone says WARSH! And she is fully aware of it because she doesn't say WARSHINGTON. We have had many discussions about this, yet she still says it.

Surprise visits are the best aren't they? My son drove up from San Diego and showed up at work one year for Mother's Day.

Birdee said...

Or ask if you were watching something...you say yes...and then they proceed to change the channel!

Why do birds only poop on your car right after you wash it? Birdee...care to shed any insight on that one? LOL!

Sorry, deletes were mine. I had to re-do my post!

MR. EBJ leaves the pantry door open, constantly. I've asked him many times to close it...

Another: I went to Trader Joes last week and they had REARRANGED SOME OF THE AISLES!!!!!!!

The people who work there are really nice, so at check out, when they axed me if I'd found everything ok, I just casually mentioned that no, I had trouble finding some of my usual stuff since they moved everything around!

Not really a big deal, but I know where everything that I want is located, and get in and out fast. It just slowed me down a bit.

Shirley you should have told him no, I want no cheese on my cheeseburger LOL!!!

Or, I'll take a cheeseburger without the cheese!

Scrishy, so sorry about your friend's mom. That is so sad...

Birdee, hope your doggy is ok! I too remember quite a few dogs getting treated for it when I was a vet tech. I think now days the treatment is better than back when I worked at the clinic.

SacBarb, good luck to your son today!

Zona, that is so scary about Nikki. Paula used to try to sneak out if the door was left open, even for a second.

That kitty would appear out of no where, like a little stealth. Luckily she only made it out to the front porch a couple times, she was an indoor only kitty so really had no idea what to do outside.

Another one...someone calls and asks if you are busy...you say yes, may I call you back later and they begin yammering away!

Maureen said...

LANI...Ummm, what is a rummy state??

JUST LIN...a three way is more fun then a two way!!

Lani said...

BEBBI - are you going to post your new pic on ms also?

ZONA - how about listening to the news etc. and someone in the room is giving their commentary at the same time and one can't actually hear what the commenter is saying. (I will not be held responsible for grammar, as I really am bleary eyed.)

And ZONA - Consider your self lucky that your automobile is in your yard. Mine is parked on the street for all the neigbors to enjoy! The yard gives me an idea though...it involves a shovel.

Lani said...

GOLDIE - I really shouldn't be blogging now, as I am so giddy. Everything is making me laugh....even the stuff that shouldn't, such as you falling down. I think it is the way you wrote it....or, maybe I am not the sensitive person I think I am. But you showed us that you are not a vein person due to the fact that you put your head above getting smeared with poop.

Lani said...

Mo, I haven;t read all the comments (weird schedule, you knowO, but I think we all deal with pet peeves everyday. I used to blow a gasket, but I've learned to walk away and consider the source. Unfortunately, the younger generation doesn't take proper English seriously. I blame the "gangstas" for that.

bonachichi said...

More on peeves; I gave my daughter a car. She's one of those religious fanatics, so it was God who gave her the car. Then I gave an interest-free loan for a new car. God did that too. She totaled that car so she needed another car, which was more expensive. I fronted her the money (interest free) to get a new car until her insurance check came in. Except it was God who did it. I have no problem with "normal" religion, but I had to do without in order to take care of her cars. I'm not looking for worship, but a simple "Thank You" and recognition for what I denied myself would have been nice. I guess my #1 peeve is people who think God and nobody else is responsible for everything good that happens to them.

Okay. I know I violated someone's peeve by writing such a long post. My apologies. I really miss speaking English. It's nice to understand what I'm reading and writing.
