Good morning MO!! You are lovely in first!!
SHIRLEY - Very interesting!! My Grandpa Jacobson's favorite flower was a daffodil.....perfect ♥
Today is the first day of my kid's summer break. The two oldest ones have flown the coop, so Jake and I are going to see The Karate Kid this morning.
Morning Glories!
Mo you are a blinding beauty today! I think you are an Acacia.
Jodi my little Chrysanthemum!
Shirley what can I say but you seem to be tip toeing through the Tulips for me!
I love these. I have a very old book in the house somewhere that gives the meaning of flowers. It is from the Victorian era. They used to send messages to each other by the flowers that were sent or even by the Nose Gays they would carry.
Granted those Nose Gays were also used like a natural deodorant. The ladies would put then to their nose when there was an unpleasant odor in the air.
Waving a wing at everyone.
Mo..
Oh my.. you are so very, very pretty! :O)

Have a great day!
Morning my sweet flowering friends!
Mo,You are a beauty of a rose today!
DeeDee,Are we acting like a Diva today? Need Chocolate?
Here is what I found on Poppies:
Poppies have long been used as a symbol of both sleep and death: sleep because of the opium extracted from them, and death because of their (commonly) blood-red color. In Greco-Roman myths, poppies were used as offerings to the dead.[1] Poppies are used as emblems on tombstones to symbolize eternal sleep. This aspect was used, fictionally, in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz to create magical poppy fields, dangerous because they caused those who passed through them to sleep forever...still want a poppy? lol!!
lol Mary....I love that commercial with Aretha...."can you feel that?"
yuk!! Boy did I "pick" the wrong flower!!
and btw....Dorothy didn't sleep forever.....Glinda made it snow and woke her up.....thats when I sent out...I mean...the WWW sent out her flying monkeys to tote em back to the house....bamemba??
Lynn how did you know that tulips are my favorite?!
Good morning Mo, Jodi, Lynn, Carol, DeeDee, EBJ and Mary!

My flower fits me perfectly! The Daisy!"Innocence and Purity!
Ivy,"wedded love?". I bet it's the "poison Ivy" lol!!
Hello pretty Mo!
Shirley, nice blog- any info on Lily's? My fav besides white roses.
I have no Lily stories, but when Mr. Goldie and I had our first big fight when dating, he bought me a dozen white roses.(he was so broke then I am surprised he could eat that week after spending the money).
For our 25th anniversary our son sent us white roses. They know they are special to me, and are only given for very special reasons..:)
Sending bunches of flowers to all of you today!! xxoo
Deedee I looked in my flower book and could not find one that said sarcastic bitch. :)
My favorite flower is Lilac. Damn my humility astounds even me.
Deedee I am thinking Bella Donna.
The first botanical description was by Linnaeus in Species Plantarum in 1753.[11] It is in the nightshade family (Solanaceae), which it shares with potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants, jimsonweed, tobacco, wolfberry, and chili peppers. The common names for this species include belladonna, deadly nightshade, divale, dwale,[3] banewort, devil's cherries, naughty man's cherries, black cherry, devil's herb, great morel, and dwayberry.[12]
The name Atropa is thought to be derived from that of the Greek goddess Atropos, one of the three Greek fates or destinies who would determine the course of a man's life by the weaving of threads that symbolized their birth, the events in their life and finally their death; with Atropos cutting these threads to mark the latter.[4][5] The name "belladonna" comes from the Italian language, meaning "beautiful lady";[3] originating either from its usage as cosmetic for the face, or, more probably, from its usage to increase the pupil size in ladies.[4][
Yep Yep, BellaDonna says it was used by witches kind of goes with the voodoo theme too.
In the past, it was believed that witches used a mixture of belladonna, opium poppy, and other plants, typically poisonous (such as monkshood and poison hemlock) in flying ointment they applied to help them fly to gatherings with other witches. Carlo Ginzburg and others have argued that flying ointments were preparations meant to encourage hallucinatory dreaming; a possible explanation for the inclusion of belladonna and opium poppy in flying ointments concerns the known antagonism between tropane alkaloids of belladonna (specifically scopolamine) and opiate alkaloids in the opium poppy, Papaver somniferum (specifically morphine), which produces a dream-like waking state. This antagonism was known in folk medicine, discussed in eclectic (botanical) medicine formularies[35], and posited as the explanation of how flying ointments might have actually worked in contemporary writing on witchcraft.[36] The antagonism between opiates and tropanes is the original basis of the Twilight Sleep that was provided to Queen Victoria to deaden pain as well as consciousness during childbirth, and which was later modified so that isolated alkaloids were used instead of plant materials. The belladonna herb was also notable for its unpredictable effects from toxicity.
Good Morning (too early for me)!!!
MO: You are so beautiful today...being fashionably late agrees with you. I think you and SHIRLEY have both been the "most beutifulist" this week!!
My favorite flower are tulips...which fits me to a tee especially in my younger day of what a great love I was :) (maybe I still am) BUT when reading the flowers I am more like a peony (shy).
Tulips...I meant to say LOVER
ah yes...belladonna....or "deadly nightshade" as I like to call it....is lovely...
and multi-purpose....
see it picture here.....gaze upon it....
LYNN - awww....blushing here!!! But it totally made me smile, cuz I have a customer that calls me his "Little Chrysanthemum"!!
Just got back from The Karate Kid!! It was great. Jaden Smith is an excellent little actor!! It truly rivals the original!!
Wishing everyone a great afternoon. Time to go play in the dirt ♥
DEE DEE - What a beautiful flower. You know purple is my favorite!!
Purple is my favorite color too jodi. At beauty shop getting made beautiful--ha--well, at least getting rid of grey
DIANNE - I'm sure you're going to look fabulous!!
Hi sitting in a parking lot with another car and police I just left beauty shop and was rear ened at the light. Very scary a I saw it coming. I'm ok and she has insurance and she is ok too her fiance was in car behind her. She was in a tahoe and her suv was worse than mine. Glad mr d is home for the newest incident. Policeman taking forever. Now I have to go in rush hour and try and outrun a tornado cloud!! Shit day. Anyone want to go drinking with me?

O M G!!! DIANNE!!! I'm glad that you're ok and that she has insurance. I wish I could be there....I sooooooo could use a cocktail myself!!! Take care...love u!!
Diane, if the cop is cute...well never mind. I am glad you are alright! I hope she wasn't texting!
Glad you're OK Dianne! I put some jello shots in the frig. If you look way in the back of the cupboard where the pots and pans are there is a bottle of rum, a bottle whiskey and a bottle of vodka. I have it for my nerves, but you can have some.
MO You are, indeed, pretty, and even prettier today.
Shirley Thank you for today's blog. I sure hope no one ever gives me a geranium. What an insult that would be!
Dianne OMG! So glad you aren't hurt and that the young woman had insurance. I had a drunk woman rear end my car on the freeway, making my car go into a wild spin...I repeat, ON THE FREEWAY! Plus, I had children in the car with me! Thank God, no one was hurt! I was stopped behind backed up traffic at the airport exit at the time and, like you, I saw it coming and could do nothing to get out of the way. Surreal, isn't it?
Waving at all my Owly friends.
Popping in it has been another long day.
Dianne we can't let you out by yourself. Lordy rear ended??? Glad everyone is fine but what a pain in the neck. I would love to join you for a drink if I lived closer.
Jodi sorry I missed your call. I was out running around and I don't answer my phone when I am driving. They just started enforcing our new cell law here and it is a big no no. You can use hands free but no regular cell phone while driving.
Mary I had the same thought. It wouldn't surprise me if the young woman was texting. There should be additional penalties for that, imho.
Good evening flowery feathered friends!
Thanks for noticing my ravishing beauty this morning. It faded fast!
DIANNE...I'm glad you're ok. That really sux the big one that she hit you. But the important thing is you are not hurt.
LYNN...when I looked at the Acacia description and saw retirement I burst out laughing! I only think I will be able to retire when the hearse pulls up to work and loads me in! Good thing my desk is next to the door.
My favorite flowers are lilacs. And followed by any other purple flower! I see there are a lot of purple fans here! Good taste attracts good taste :)~
SHIRLEY: Your blog was very interesting! I love flowers..though I can't seem to grow them here at all. I love daffodils..and pansys. I don't understand the meaning for pansys though..I guess I'll have to think about it.... ;)
MO: You are gorgeous..first..second and third! Oh..and sixth too! :)
DEEDEE: Smile a little smile for me..Rose Marie.. ;)
CAROL: I just smiled when I read MO's description of your fave flower..perfect.. :)
DIANNE: I'm so glad you weren't hurt!! Have some margaritas..and send me the bill..ok? I think there is a good luck gnome that needs to come live with you..js..
Waving HI to J/LIN, LYNND, EBJ and JMMARY!

Thanks for all the hard work you have been doing with the blog.. with my days so crazy.. I don't know how I would have done it..
Sooo a big crackwhore TY!
Hi ...thanks for the good wishes you all sent. The day is now over. I came home and we went to eat and I had a marg and didn't even finish it. I did eat my dinner though.
I asked the girl right away if she was on her phone and she had it in her hand with the ear piece in and showed it to me. She couldn't have been nicer and was so upset. I had to smile when she saw my handicap card she said , "oh no, you are handicap too?
I am such a bad person." I found I was consoling her. She had to have the car towed. It was just a scary deal watching a car come up behind you too fast and not a thing you can do about it. I was very jumpy driving home. I'm not kidding....when I sent that post I had been just sitting in my car with the policeman in his car for close to an hour. I was so ready to leave and he was not cute and grumpy to me. Not grumpy to the young pretty tall blond girl even with her boyfriend being there. I almost had to remind him I was the one that got hit. He couldn't apologize enough to her for giving her a ticket....I hope my son isn't like that....well, I know he isn't and I will remind him not to be....Cop didn't even notice my brand new 5 min old hair style.
I am off to bed early.
SHIRLEY : Thanks for all the drinks...I am sorry to report the bottles are now empty BUT I will replace them for emergencies just like this.
LYNN - No worries....I use mine in the car less and less. Especially in Madison!!
MO - Lilacs are high on my list, too!! I had a lilac bush outside my bedroom window growing up. Luv them ♥
Oh, WTC......49!!
50!!!
ZONA - pfffffft!!!!
CAROL - Hoping you have some "me" time scheduled this weekend!! :O)
