GENERATION WE........ARE YOU READY?

by Lynn D

Generation WE: The Movement Begins... from Generation We on Vimeo.

I read about this generational movement a month ago and I really believe that this is the real reason many politicians on both sides are worried. Change is coming, it is unavoidable. This generation does not believe in partisan politics, does not believe in religious affiliations and strongly believes in the rights of all races and income levels. They volunteer, and have studied the effects of pollution on our world. They have been raised to accept all people of all colors and faiths. This is what I want for my children and grandchildren!  What about you?

Lynn D~ you just described my daughter to a T~ My boys could give a rats ass....it's all about them....but not my daughter. All three have had to volunteer in the community. It's been part of their religion grade since they were in grade school. I'm hoping and praying that it continues in college and beyond~ Thanks for sending the blog~

Good morning, Tina. Ur ugly and I hate you. :D

Hiya Whab! Nice to see an early bear.

Off to read about Generation We!

Well thank God we have something besides more idiots coming into the voting pool. I swear, some of the choices I see people making force me to wonder how they're even allowed to wipe their own arse. They could hurt themselves.

Until the USA can display intelligence greater than that of a rock I am and will remain, embarrassed to be American.

DeeDee said...

Good morning....

aside from the way they are raised...kids sense whats going on around them and question things that seem wrong....I know I did...I always have...

My first questions stemmed from being raised in church....practically everything I had learned in church was the opposite of what I saw being practiced by the church and the people in it....racism...so much judgement....the bible was teaching us to be as much like Christ as possible....to follow his example....as I started to question these things it didn't take me long after hearing the responses to my queries...to realize that it was all bullshit....

with each generation things seem to improve.....and so much of what I have personally questioned during my life is finally...I believe...going to make a huge impact as these kids take the reins....and the dinosaurs of my generation become extinct....so that a real sensibility can take center stage.....

This is a very exciting dream for me....that the USA be the example for the world to follow...and that all people are treated equally and respectfully....

Of course...the "we generation" is at a tremendous disadvantage considering what they shall inherit...especially in regard to the shape the planet itself is in.

Stephen Hawkins has said with certainty that in order to survive as a race....that we had better find another place to live within the next 100 years....because we have ruined the earth....

I read the other day that cancer is most likely a product of our pollution of the earth...our environment....that it was non existent in the not so distant past....

It doesn't make sense to me that the things that we struggle with the most and are devoting such staggering amounts of money to are mostly of our own doing....or the result of the greed we have become so famous for...or the ignorance.

These kids represent hope for a better world for the generations to come....I just wish I could live to be around to see the place when we have even a 50% improvement over the last 50 years....

But the prospect of being 150 years old and up for my next face lift and hearing the surgeon say "DeeDee...ur just never going to look 100 again" is a little daunting.....

Morning Glories!

Tina quit moaning I just read you will have 13 days off!

Yes Whabby I say more power to them to. I get teary eyed and chills up my spine when I watch this video. I really hope that this generation does create the change we need.

From what I have read about them they are fed up by the repeated attempts to create divide, whether it is about race, religion or economics. The fear mongering is really pissing them off.

It gives me some hope that our generation raised a thinking generation.

Waving at Janice! Wohoo you get a 13 day break too!

Bon I shake my head about some of the people voting too. No body wants to take the time to learn the difference between their Ass and their elbow.

Deedee soon there won't be any surgery. They will just set you in a room and let lasers do all the work. Tho when they put you in there I hate to see what happens to the power grid on that day. :)

Lynn D said...

Tina your boys will give a damn when they decide to settle down and have kids. You just wait.

bonachichi said...

LynnD, I believe you are a Cali girl, yes? Maybe you have seen the political adverts for Whitman, Boxer, etc. I have yet to see one that outlines any platform. It's just attacks against the opponent. So if I am to believe what's advertised, our choices are narrowed to one piece of shit or another.

Americans have turned the nation into one of finger-pointers. It happens everywhere. These finger pointers are unfortunately, not right; they are wrong with authority. A dangerous form of government. I hope all the "victims" of negative opinions, the ones who claim racism, sexism, elitism and religious persecution enjoy the country they've created.

America has always been "#1", and it's not failed here. It's become the #1 example of a country destroying itself from within. Congratulations to us. Nobody could have done it better.

LYNN; Good blog. My two granddaughters do a lot of volunteer work through the Girl Scouts and have learned about how important being part of the community is for growing up. I worry so much about the world my grandkids will be growing into and can only hope they learn through school, etc., how to become good American citizens

DEEDEE: I think what you said is so true that the kids do sense what is going on around them and question it. I can see it even at the young age kids are and them asking questions.

TINA; How fun that you now get 13 days off and will be able to see your son and get some sleep. Just think....didn't you say you would have family visiting when you come home? It will be your Happy Birthday present!! j/k Have a great vacation and enjoy yourself.

BEAR: Nice to see you dropping in more lately. Do you have your purple on today?

CHICHI: I think we (the USA) have gotten ourselves into a huge mess and I don't know how it will get fixed but I will never say that I am embarrassed to be an American!

Jodi said...

LYNN - Thank you for another great blog!! My daughter definitely reflects the Generation we. She questions everything!!! I'm so glad that she feels that she can. My boys are kinda young, but have an awesome work ethic!! They volunteer all the time ....... and their Grandpa Huston really appreciates all their hard work.

bonachichi said...

Dianne, I respect your opinion. It's entirely possible that you've had different experiences than I.

During the pre-rally briefing for Gumball Rally last May, the organizer was outlining our route. The first part was from London to Calais, France via eurotunnel. Then, "For all you Americans, France is a whole other country." A cheap shot yes, but he was just paying homage to the ignorance and arrogance displayed by many of our countrymen.

There was a time when I was proud. But now we are a laughingstock. For instance.... In April, all of western Europe was shocked by an unfortunate event. Does anyone here at the nest know what this was? Since we are an "extra help" nation, a hint: It involved Poland. Americans are blissfully unaware of the rest of the world. We are sheltered both by our size and our arrogance. To turn a blind eye to what the rest of the world thinks of us is just... more arrogance.

Jodi said...

TINA - ENJOY your time off!!

WHABBY....did you have your purple on today? I did!!!

BONACHICHI - I'm am filled with hope for Generation We. But I would NEVER say today or any other day that I'm embarrassed to be an American.

DEE DEE - Luv your avatar today ♥

DIANNE - Hoping for a better weekend of football!!

Jodi said...

BONACHICHI - I just read your response to DIANNE. Yes...different life experiences definitely. I am not a world traveler by any stretch of the imagination. And maybe I'm naive on how the world views the United States. I can't imagine that ALL the world sees us as a laughing stock. Especially all the countries that we've helped over the years financially. Just my narrow little opinion.

bonachichi said...

Jodi, it isn't everyone, of course. But the nations we've helped? The grubby little snots take the money, then go back to bad-mouthing the USA. It's not an attack against any single person... it's against the reputation.

Obama isn't helping lately, either. He is seen as interfering where he has no business, trying to take over the world.

Please don't attack me about this... I'm just the messenger. I only know what I see. Being a tourist is different; they put up with you because they want your dollars and you'll go away soon enough. But try to integrate into their world? "American" becomes an obstacle.

Maureen said...

LYNN...I do hope that the future generations can help fix the problems this GREAT nation has caused, suffered and survived.

Yes, we have kicked ourselves in the ass many, many times throughout history and I'm fairly confident we will again. But, we also have the the rights that many countries don't...one being the right to disagree, dissent and discuss. We can protest. We can come on a public forum and bitch about it. We can do so many more things freely then the nations that denegrate us would ever allow their citizens to do.

I may disagree with a lot of the political bullshit (campaign ads and platforms) that tell us nothing, the government spending, the state of the economy, healthcare, education, public utilities...but I will never, NEVER be ashamed to be an American. If I ever am, then it is time to select a country to move to and get the hell out.

Just MY non-arrogant humble opinion.

TINA...have a GREAT vacay!

DEE DEE...you have mighty strong arms to carry the weight of the world on them today!

Jodi said...

MO - Well put!! And I still love your avatar....♥

Jodi said...

Good night HOoters...it's been a long day and I have to open tomorrow!!

bonachichi said...

Mo, I think the world of you, really, I do. And there was a time when I had the same attitude as you. But it is precisely that attitude that has won the USA the reputation it has.

Look at healthcare... Do you realize how appalling it is that Americans without insurance can't get it? They are literally, left to die if they can't pay for it. Other developed countries see this as barbaric in the extreme.

Are you PROUD of the Japanese concentration camps? Are you PROUD of the way your country treated service men and women during the Vietnam war? Are you PROUD that your President was getting blow jobs from a bimbo and spurting his semen all over the place? Are you PROUD to be the fattest, most gluttonous people on the planet?

I'm not saying there aren't things to be proud of... but there are also things that require a degree of humility. The lack of that humility is what's embarrassing.

Unless you've been in my shoes and had to fight those preconceived notions, you can't know how utterly humiliating it is to be lumped in with all the rest. I don't have the luxury of working in one place. I have to go where the work is. And it's damn hard to convince people that I'm not like all the rest.

And freedom? What freedom? I express an opinion and I'm castrated, tarred and feathered, then set afire for having one. That's not freedom. That's... what's that word? Oh yes. Bullying.

Lynn D, Lynn D, Lynn D. You never stop amazing me with the information you bring to us. You must be the most knowledgable person on current events that I know!

When I was a kid and teenager I was concerned with finding enough pop bottles to cash in so I could go to a movie or buy the latest K-Tel record. Now today kids are concerned with global warming, pollution, war, the economy and if their parents (who both work fulltime) will be able to keep up with the mortgage payments, or even just keep their jobs. It's too much. This video though, shows that they are willing to face the problems head on and stand together to make tomorrow better than today.

Great blog Lynn D!!

Maureen said...

So, when I state MY opinion it is tar and feathering but you can come here and call us stupid..."For instance.... In April, all of western Europe was shocked by an unfortunate event. Does anyone here at the nest know what this was? Since we are an "extra help" nation, a hint: It involved Poland." And WE are the bullies?

No CHI CHI, I am not proud of anything this country did concering Vietnam (which was never officially declared a war by this country...it was a conflict), nor the internment camps or bombing Hiroshima or a multitude of other offenses we have committed.

I'm also not proud of Jackass, The Housewives of Atlanta, Celebrity Rehab, the Enquirer and Fox News
:)~

As far as Bill Clinton goes I couldn't give a rat's ass if he was blowing, being blown or fucking half the District of Columbia as long as he was doing his job...which he did.

But I am proud of the aid we send to countries that need it, the US Troops that freed the concentration camps, the higher education that welcomes the students from all over the world with lesser Universities, the medical care we have here that welcome the sick from all over the world that do not have access to advanced treatments.

And by the way, I do walk in similar shoes of having to fight preconcieved notions regarding my religion - daily.

Don't even bother to reply, as I am done here for a while. I have enough problems in my life that I don't need to come here, to a place that was intended to be a fun escape and be berated for having my opinions and to be called ignorant, arrogant and worse. What's the word I am looking for...oh yes, bullied.

CAROL...I'm sorry.

bonachichi said...

Thank you, Mo. You make my point for me.

DeeDee said...

I have to admit that I did get a kick out of Bill Clinton's shenanigans!!
What embarrassed me was all the tattler's...I just regret that I didn't have the chance to get some of Bills love juice spurted on me..."baby oh baby...yes..yes..yes."

Just not in the eye....that burns like a mofo! Did yall know that? I didn't know if you knew that...

and please T-Bird...if you are going to regale me with stories of spurting sperm...please limit it to the morning hours...if my zorch gets all heated up at night I don't sleep as well...

And of course it was hard to miss the tragedy in Poland T-Bird...I assume you are referring to the Presidents plane crash that took his life and the lives of so many high ranking officials in the Polish government including the president of the National Bank of Poland.....

And the United States does have it problems....and Europeans can say whatever they want....those people from country's the size of a county here in Texas....but in comparing our country to countries comparable in size and populations...there simply is not one that even comes close....

I would ..and have been...quick to remind many snotty Europeans...particularly the French.. who is primarily responsible that they are even a country today....

The blood...sweat and tears of thousands of Americans bought their freedom and I would be hard pressed not to verbally and possibly physically annihilate any one of them who dared talk down America...

Because at our very worst...we are 100 times the nation they are! Which ever European country they live in...

I have stood above the cliffs at Normandy...I have visited the concentration and death camps that we have liberated. I have been fortunate enough to meet survivors of the HOLOCAUST!!

and I will...by God...defend this country against any dissenters...until I am dead.

Bonacci..

It seems you struck a nerve in reference to your statement of being embarrassed to be an American. I will say that is your opinion, however, I would never ever be embarrassed of my country, and I like Dee would defend my country till I am dead. We as Americans have a lot of freedoms, and yes our country does have issues, but all countries do.

I think the issue here is (and this is only my opinion) you travel so much abroad that you hear very often what other people from other countries think about America and its people. It is a fact that many countries do not like America, and blame America for many things. When you hear something over and over, and look at from another perspective it can change ones opinion and feelings..

I am not saying you have been swayed, because you are certainly entitled to think as you do. But your comments carry a lot of anger in them today about America and its government and that is exactly how some foreign countries think of us..

It was a joy to watch the Chilean miners find freedom last week, and to know that America and other countries each had a part in it.. America did what they could and I was proud..

I am proud of our military, and its training. I am proud to look at my dad each day and know he served in WWII...

Each country has issues.. example, Paris is in a tizzy right now, because of change in retirement age. Italy, bowed down and let their flagship Airline (Alitalia) be bought out, because the government could not come up with the money to save it.. So many ppl lost their jobs, and their pensions, sick pay.. etc etc.. Mexico is in the middle of a drug war, with many ppl being killed and beheaded..

Issues are all over.. It is just the way of the world...

night.owls.sb said...

Mo..

You never ever have to be sorry for feeling as you do, and stating your opinion, no apology necessary..

I agree whole heartily with your comment.. I commend you and understand your feelings..

night.owls.sb said...

I gotta tell ya, they are times when you make me spit out my water!

and I quote

"I have to admit that I did get a kick out of Bill Clinton's shenanigans!!"

night.owls.sb said...

And to add one more comment, as my thoughts wander..

It is ok to state opinions.. but its in the way they are presented that must be thought out prior to typing them.. as some can be hurtful..

ok.. so I have one more thing to say..

If Mo leaves where the heck will I get my bacon..

Carol, I agree. I don't mind reading different opinions but, when the "opinions" are laced with angry belittling, put downs, made to feel inferior comment's, etc. well......you better be prepared for what come's next. You can't turn around and then say you are a victim of bullying. As the old saying goes....if you dish it out...be prepared to take it. THINK about how you come across before you hit "Post"...passion is good..hurting someone is not!

lmbo!!!! omg!!! I guess I just read it differently than most. You guys all have to lighten up.....I'm the number 1 person to say ignore....ask anyone....but I honestly didn't see anything wrong here today....well...except for that nasty part about "someone" wanting in on the clinton shenanigans!!!!!!!! ewwwwww~

Bonachichi~ ur pretty....and I hate you too~

I'm proud to be an American....except for that time in the bakery in Paris when the asshole American (I'm not even going to tell you what state he was from!)(DeeDee) acted like a stupid shit......it just made me want to prove to the lady there (I went there every morning) that we aren't all like that! And then there was the time we were at the Vatican listening to Pope John Paul II and he completely ignored the Americans....except when he lectured us...and you all know how much I loved him~ As a whole, Americans are seen exactly as ChiChi said. It's sad, but true. We just have to prove when we have the opportunity to do so, that we aren't all like that~ Break the stereotype~

btw.....i'm so effing tired....i should have been in bed long ago....but i had to pack and had tons to do...so this prolly didn't even make sense....take it for what it's worth...a buck fifty~ :)~

Well Shit I go and take care the parts of my life falling apart yesterday and I come here this morning and see more shit falling apart?

People I offered up this blog because of the eye opener about the next generation. How they see things differently than our generation. I am sure some of them blame all of us and are not proud of what our elected officials and by proxy those of us who vote have wrought in the last 15 years or so.

These kids see the challenges with a clear vision and are standing up. That is what America is to me. We see the challenges and have a can do attitude. Which has been missing of late in this country. imho.

Yes I agree with all of you we all have different lives and perspectives and experiences. Look I am an American first and foremost but if we tell the truth there are things that have happened in the past and right now that I am not proud of. So I try to stay educated about issues and make an attempt to understand all sides before I take a stance. That is what thinking people and thinking Americans should do.

There is a lot wrong but as citizens we need to set an example not just for the rest of the world but to our fellow Americans that we are people who are willing to meet in the middle and try to find solutions. That is how this country was built. Sadly right now that seems to be lost by the very people who are supposed to be leading it.

This is my opinion right now I speak only for myself, the conservative Right has a lot to answer for in history about this time frame. Saying No to every damn thing is not the answer and making people they feel superior to into demons (gays, muslims, liberals etc) turns us eventually into a country of demonizers. No solutions just a country afraid of our fellow country men and yes that in my opinion is shameful.

Now everyone calm down. We just need to talk to each other with respect and try to understand without using personal attacks. This is hard because the climate in the country is so unsettling and causes passionate meltdowns. I know because I have had to refrain from commenting many times in the last month because I thought I would lose it.

Let's look at it this way. There is so much wrong with this country that it gives us a reason for getting up in the morning.

Case in point: The 9th circuit just accepted the Department of Justice's request for an emergency stay of the judge's decision to immediately stop enforcing DADT. Once again, after a week's respite, gay servicemembers are subject to getting fired from their job.

But... this country IS worth fighting for to make better! And that assessment is coming from an immigrant!

whabbear said...

Oh, and, thanks for noticing, Dianne! Life is slowly settling back toward what passes for normal, even though I'm still commuting from Jim's and the condo remodel still has a couple of weeks to go!

I heard that report on the news yesterday Whabby and shook my head and groaned, ok I yelled at the TV to. Yes it is worth fixing we just have to find people who want to do it for the collective good.
