Strauss-Walzer Medley

by Shirley

I love this guy! I have been watching his concerts on PBS for the last couple of years. He makes me smile and makes classical music so much fun. I know you all won't like it, but I hope at least 1 other person out there enjoys it as much as I do.

BIRDEE...from Area 51...How do you reach your foot all the way up to the Martian's ass...do you get on a step ladder? bwahahahaha!

SHIRLEY: I loved it. It just made me smile watching and listening to it. It is so nice to see a whole audience so happy listening to music without a care in the world! Thanks for the uplifting blog today....especially since I am up SO DAMN EARLY!!!!!

I don' t know why I woke at 6:45...wide awake...after only three hours sleep...but I did. I finally got up and even had a load of wash going (thought I had better do that before nap time). Our Bronco game is on early this AM so we have to be ready when that starts to. (early meaning 11am).

Good Moaning and Morning to TINA AND MO. MO, you aren't at work today are you? TINA, how is your sick baby....better now?

We had a nice day yesterday. We went up in the mountains for the whole afternoon driving and looking at colors. The trees were beautiful as was the weather also. We met my brother and wife for dinner up there and the MRD and I went up the mountain to the casinos for awhile. My daughter, husband and some of their friends were there for the night (just by chance) so we hung out some with them. I did pretty good on my walking in that big place. I had to rest from time to time but it was a long fun day and so wonderful to get out of the damn house!!!!!

BIRDEE: It is nice to see you from Area 51....quick fly-by but so nice to see those wings flapping over the nest.

JODI: Who do you play today and how did the Badgers do yesterday. We play Tenn so get your shirt on.

Hmmmm, now what should I do? I haven't seen this time of the AM for a long time. Heck, it was still kind of dark when I woke up.

DIANNE...nice to see you! Your day yesterday sounds AWESOME!! Dontcha just love the fall colors?!
No, not at work today. We never have to work Sundays...YAY! And usually only one Saturday every 8 weeks or so. My next Saturday is 10/30.
Glad your foot seems to be getting better and you are getting around more.

Enjoy your day today...go Broncos!

Morning Glories!

Shirley I have seen this man on PBS before his music is really good, but I always have a problem with men who have better hair than me. :)

Last day at the beach and then it is home to reality. :(

Waving at the moaning glory, Mo and Dianne!

I didn't want to like that vid. But I did. People don't dance like that anymore. A shame, that.

Good morning everyone and Happy Sunday!

Good morning!

Shirley, I LOVE Andre!

This made me get a little weepy... as Andre was my grandma's favorite (my mom's mom).

I bought her a CD of his for Christmas one year. She ended up going into the hospital right before Christmas, and died in Jan.

She never got to open the CD, and when my mom and dad sorted through her household to get it ready to sell, they found the unopened CD and gave it to me.

I still have it, gift wrapped with her name on it.

So I really apprciate your blog this morning! :) Thank you!

Today is MR. E's birthday, and he had to work. He couldn't take any time off since he just went back after being on disability 2 1/2 months.

He will come home to a small group of family and a big dinner, and cheesecake for desert.

Carol and Mo, thank you for the meaningful posts yesterday, and reminding us why we came here in the first place.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Good morning!!

That guy is great! I have watched him too and always love it....

T-Bird...yes people do still dance that way!! My first thought when I watched the video and the Blue Danube part of the medley was being performed was the Vienna Opera Ball!!

I have been twice...years ago....each time as a spectator....and it is breathtaking!
I would have bought tickets to waltz but you must be able to do the Viennese Waltz counterclockwise and I could just see myself falling into the middle of some European nobility's table...lol

Its the ball where that rich guy...Richard Lugner always takes a sexy celeb...like Paris Hilton or Dita Von Teese.....one of the times I was there his paid escort was Sophia Loren....

It is by far the social event of the year in Europe and its so neat because peons like me can buy tickets and attend....in whatever capacity you choose....I chose "face in the crowd" ticket...lol

But it is a magical spectacle and well worth the price of a ticket to experience..... every time I hear a waltz I can hear the rustling of those hundreds of ball gowns and taste my complimentary glass of champagne....

EBJ I'm glad this made you think of your grandmother. You are welcome.

I was hesitant to send this video in because I know a lot of people don't like classical music, but I took a chance anyway. Thanks Tina for posting it. I'm glad those of you who have seen it liked it.

Good moaning to you Tina!

Good afternoon Maureen, Dianne, Lynn D, Bonachichi and EBJ!

Afternoon DeeDee! Glad you enjoyed the video. That must have been quite an interesting event to see. Lol @ your "face in the crowd" ticket.

DeeDee~ "complimentary champagne"? I believe you paid for it~ and I also thought you didn't like bubbly~

TINA: Congrats on first to moan today!

SHIRLEY: I really liked this video. My grandfather played the violin..in fact his violin still hangs on the wall in the living room. My mom loved Strauss..so this was a win win for me! Great choice for a quiet Sunday!

DIANNE: Sounds like you had a great time yesterday! It really does feel good to leave these four walls behind sometimes..doesn't it? :)

EBJ: Something similar happened with my mom..and I still have the gift wrapped and put away too. I think maybe I'll open it this year though..I think she would like that. :)

Happy Birthday to your hubby! I'll be waiting for a piece of cheesecake! Or at least a picture of a piece of cheesecake. ;)

MO: Mr Z is home and looking for projects to work on...Lord help us.. ;)

Oh sheesh..something just crashed in the other room..I better go check on him and see what kind of trouble he's getting into..Have a great day everyone!

Good afternoon feathered friends!

Yikes, I decided to take a little nap this morning and just woke up! Hadn't even eaten anything yet today! Can't believe I slept that much. Looks like my list of things to do will not get done till late tonight! Oh well!

ZONA...please let us know what that crash was and give us an up to date finger and toe count ;)~

CHI CHI...watch DWTS...they all have to do a Vienese Waltz at some point. One of my favorites to watch.

Maureen said...

EBJ...What's the big dinner going to be? I hope everytime you look at the CD it brings back happy memories you you and your grandmother.

DEE DEE...how many US dollars does it cost to attend this ball?

LYNN...safe travels home.

Dianne/Denver said...

Good Evening.....well, my team won today...how about yours? Ours was a really close game against Tennessee but we won...YEA!!!

JODI: I see you beat MARY today...how about yesterday, who won?

And ZONA ZONA...both of your teams lost today...sniff (not)

I kind of napped during the second game today but now getting ready for our Sunday Subway dinner to watch Sunday night football!!

MO: Mr Z dropped the screen door that goes with the sliding glass door. Nikki was anxious to meet a cat that was on the back fence last weekend and tried to run right through the screen..knocking it off the track. He just set it against the wall until he could fix it. All toes and fingers are intact..wait..I mean 9.5 toes and 9.3 fingers are intact. ;)

DIANNE: Mr Z has been bringing in the Bron..I mean the Halloween decorations..all afternoon. He's going to be putting up your lights this evening.. ;)

SACBARB & EBJ: I think the Raiders need three swift kicks in the ankles..whattaya say?

I'm making meatloaf, smashed potatoes and fresh green beans for dinner. Actually the green beans are fresh from Trader Joes' freezer case. I think we're having a picture of cheesecake for dessert..have to wait and see about that... ;D

DING! Potatoes are ready for smashing! I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday!

Zona said...

DIANNE: Hmmm..maybe those lights won't be going up after all.. ;P

Maureen...

Tickets for the Opera Ball run just under $500.00....per person...

But for what you will see its worth it....well I think it is....people pay more than that for concert tickets and sporting events all the time....I guess its just what ever you like....

It starts at 10pm with the débutante and their escorts...186 couples I think....this stuff has been rehearsed for months.....

Talking and thinking about it makes me want to go again...its always the Thursday before Ash Wednesday...

Well Owls it's time for me to go to bed. A friend is taking me out of town shopping and we are getting an early start. The town we are going to is about an hour from here. I don't get shopping very often and there are some household items I'm anxious to pick up as well as some sneakers. Anyone need anything while I'm there?

This morning I got up at 7:30 to take my pills and then I was going to go back to bed, but I saw my answering machine flashing. There was a message from my sister begging me to come up and help her decorate a Mickey Mouse cake, Mickey Mouse cookies and Clown cupcakes. So needless to say I didn't get back to bed.

Don't forget to watch Amazing Race tonight. It just got over here a while ago.

Thanks for all your comments today and glad you liked the vid! Nighty night Owls!! ((HUGS))

Dianne/Denver said...

SHIRLEY: Just finished watching Amazing Race. I didn't want the two that went home to go yet but oh well!!
have a nice shopping trip and that was sweet of you to help your sister out today.

Night owls. I think I am cashing it in for the day and going to bed early tonight. These early mornings are not for a "night Owl".
