Woman Arrested For Warning Drivers Of Speed Trap With Makeshift Sign

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player
A makeshift sign used to warn drivers of a speed trap landed a Houston woman in jail last week.                                                                                                                                                               Natalie Plummer was riding her bicycle home from the grocery store when she noticed several cars beng pulled over for speeding. Hoping to save a few drivers from a potentially pricey ticket, she turned one of her paper bags into a sign that warned of the waiting police ahead.                                                                                                                                                              While she was doing so, an officer pulled up and arrested her.
"I was completely abiding by the law," she told KRTK. "I was simply warning citizens of a situation ahead."                                                                                                                                                                 The Houston police, however, were not amused by her tactics and arrested her for, believe it or not, "standing in the street where a sidewalk is present," an offense that not only sounds ridiculous, but that Plummer also denies even doing.                                                                                                                                                                   "He couldn't take me to jail for holding up this sign or he would have. So all he could do was make up something fake about it," she said.                                                                                                                                                                The officer also searched her backpack and threatened to arrest her for obstruction of justice, a much more serious charge, Plummer alleges.                                                                                                                                                                     She was held in jail for 12 hours until she posted bond and is scheduled to appear in court for her misdemeanor charge in the near future.

Morning Glories!

Absolutely ridiculous. There are so many more issues out there that we need to spend time and money on this? Shame on the police officer who in my opinion was and is a bully.

Waving at everyone!

There is no video. :( But the story is redic.

Lynn, I was thinking the same thing as I was reading. First of all, this woman's sign would serve to make people slow down, which should make cops happy. Unless of course, they needed to make a quota, and she was screwing that up.

BTW, you look glorious in first today.

I am going to Sharon's today to look at the 2,000 pics she took in Scotland and Ireland. If we have time we are going to see that movie about the kid who comes out of the garden.

Have a good day everyone. BBL

That sign won't hold up in court. Bwahahaha!

LynnD You are cute as ever in first today. I agree that it is ridiculous to arrest that woman. Isn't that part of her freedom of speech, which a whole big part of the world does not understand about us right now? It would be different if she were holding up something so distracting that it might cause an accident. Then I could understand them not allowing her to do it, but not this. You're right. The cop is a jerk and a bully.

Tina In a nutshell, I think the whole thing is pretty stupid and will be a waste of the court's time.

Howdy Everyone.

I'm just laying here waiting for my niece to bring lunch over and visit with me for awhile.

Tina: I think (even being a police mom) that this was a stupid arrest. it's kind of like when someone blinks there lights at you to let you know police ahead. I've heard of them getting pulled over too. I'm always grateful someone did it for me.

Barb: wow, that's a lot of pictures. Have fun with sharon and hopefully enjoy the movie too.

JL: I totally agree with you. More things to spend time on.

Lynn: you look so pretty and charming at first today. Are you all rested from the birthday party? I'll bet your grandson is ready for another one.

Hi again: We'll, I'm excited. My dr office just called and there is a cancelation for me to move up to Oct 9 for surgery. I'm so glad to not have those two extra weeks I was going to have to wait.

Ok that's all---I was just excited!!!

Just_Lin said...

Dianne Hooray!!! So glad that your surgery got moved up! That's great news!

Dianne/Denver said...

Hooray is right. Thanks. JL.

Barb: did you make the movie today?

sacBarb said...

Dianne, we decided to go to the movie first, than goodness. Then when we got back to Sharon's house, we looked at some of the pics, but not all of them. I thought she was kidding about the 2000, but she swears there are that many.

BTW the movie was good, but bring Kleenex if you go see it.
