A teacher that definitely has impacted the lives of so many, many people! Randy Pausch, may you rest in peace!
Have you had a teacher who years later you still think about what and how they taught? The impact they had on you, stays with you? I had a professor in university who left such an impression. He taught two of several History courses I took. He wasn’t liked by everyone – he was truly a macho man and a bit of a dude. I was majoring in Women’s Studies (History was my minor) and I didn’t always agree with him – his manly man attitude slipped through sometimes. I did, however, respect him. He was the same age as me and had gone back to school after having been in the work force for a while – just as I had. He understood that it was exciting but also a little overwhelming to go back to school when most of the students were many years younger. He was the most accessible professor I ever had - his office hours were extensive, he answered all his e-mails and phone calls immediately, he was willing to sit and listen to a stressed out student, and offered great suggestions when one was stuck on an assignment. He helped me get in to a class that I couldn’t get into, which I so appreciated as I needed it to graduate. He was really there for his students. He was a great teacher - inside and outside of the classroom.
As I continued on to a second degree in Education and then on to a teaching job, I thought about him and the way he taught. I incorporated some of the techniques he used for adult learners and I tried to be as accessible and as there for my students as he was. I often thought I should contact him and tell him of the impact he had made. I imagine college and university professors teach so many students who just disappear into their own lives, that profs don’t necessarily ever know the continuing effect they have had. One day about two months ago, I saw him going into a store that I was coming out of. I was going to run after him and talk to him, and then decided I would write him a letter. I went straight home and did that. I told him of the lasting impression he had made. I heard back from him within a half hour of sending that letter out by e-mail. He was so gracious and appreciative that I had written and I was really glad that I had.
Yesterday, I opened the local paper, which I hardly ever buy and it opened immediately to the obituaries. And there was his picture and a write-up. He had died suddenly last weekend at 49 years old. Even though I really didn’t know him, I was very sad. And then I was extremely happy that I had written that letter when I did.
Now I am trying to think of other teachers I should write to say thank you to while I still have the chance. Have you had a teacher (elementary, high school, college, etc.) that years later you remember fondly and that he or she continues to have a positive impact on you? If you were to write a letter to that teacher, would there be anything in particular that you would want to say?

Morning!
Wonderful blog Vig! I actually thought about writing a similar blog to honor teachers when it came around to being Teacher Appreciation Day/Week.
My high school Spanish teacher is who had the biggest impact on me. I took Spanish from her for 3 yrs. I actually took another yr of Spanish but that was the yr she went back to school for her Masters. She wrote to me all that year and in the following yrs after graduation. She came to my wedding, kept in touch with me when I went to Germany, and she was there for me when I got divorced.
Now we're actually neighbors! She has always been there for me and we've grown to be great friends. She believed in me when no one else did. She encouraged me to do things I never thought I could. She is actually like my second mom!
I could go on and on but it would be a book.
I think I'll call her today. Thanks Vig!!!
Good Morning Donna.
VIG - What a wonderful blog. I am just up for a few minutes to feed the dogs. I am going to have a nap and then head down to mom's lodge. She isn't feeling well and needs me again today. I will check back in this afternoon and comment on your great blog.
Good Morning Hooters!
Congrats on 1st hart.
Great blog VIG.
The teacher who made the biggest impact was my sophmore year or High School- my Biology Teacher. I hated all aspects of science until that year.
That teacher was so laid back and easy to work with. He allowed us to be 'thinkers and explorers' and he made class enjoyable.
During one section of the year we were allowed to chose between writing a paper or participating in class. It was all about photosynthesis and I thought it was a boring subject. I chose the paper- no class time, just library time for weeks!
I worked my butt off on that paper, and got a A+. 3 years later my brother had that teacher, and when that unit came up again, MY PAPER was used as the example of how it should be done. 7 years later- the same when my sister was in class!!!
I have no idea how long he used my paper as an example- but I know that he made me a free thinker and taught me how to 'find the answers'.
I did have the opportunity to tell him that a couple of years ago when we were both at the same wedding reception. He remembered me right away and said that I was a success story in his teaching career because he turned me around from hating science. :)
Hi Tink and Donna- hope you and everyone else has a nice day!
Great blog Vig!
Mornin' Hart!
I was lucky enough to have a teacher that made such an impression on me that I remember him to this day. He was my 10th grade English teacher and was a rather gruff and impatient man. He didn't take any crap from the teenage boys in his class nor from anyone else.
At the time, I I was an emotional mess. My parents had divorced and I had been sent to live with my father as I didn't get along with my Mother and kept running away. I ran away from my Father too and was put in a detention center. When I was released back to my father I found out he had married. Needless to say, I hated my new young stepmother and she was not that fond of me either
This teacher paid attention to me as a person. He told me I was smart and encouraged me to explore different ways of thinking about the assigned essays. He would read several homework essays aloud to the class giving examples of what was good and what was bad without revealing the authors. My essays were the good example. He also took time after class to inquire after my state of mind, which no one else in my life thought to do. He did all this without knowing my situation. I think that he just sensed that, at that time, I needed more than the other kids. For that, I will be forever grateful
Hi, Hart, Tink, scirish, and Goldie!
Goldie, my story is similar to yours, but in college. It's all about Doug Mewhort, a psychology professor at Queen's. The professors divied up the duties of teaching intro psych, and Doug's section was cognitive and perceptual processes. It was my first exposure to the world of experimental psychology, and I was hooked on the subject matter. Still am!! Doug had a unique teaching style, calling the textbook a "total abortion" in his first class.
I thought, well, that's certainly out there! And then he started lecturing about attentional channels and the processing fate of unattended material. Wow! I decided I wanted to be a professor just like Doug!
Happy Tuesday!!
GOod morning everyone...
Hart - congrats on FIRST!!!
waving howdy to Hart, Tinka, Goldie, Scirish, Whabby and all who land...
I need to read VIG's blog!! but wanted to jump in..
I hope everyone has an excellent day!!
:-)
(sending Just Lin our sunshine today!!!)
VIG - thank you for your blog today - watching that clip brought tears to my eyes.. I just bought the audio version of The Last Lecture last week.
I think it's great that you wrote your teacher the letter!!
I have two teachers that left a lasting impression on me....
Well, three - first of all - my father - as I have told you all the countless times he sat with me at the kitchen table and helped me with "MacBeth" and my algebra and my geomeotry....... man, i hated math and Shakespeare! anyway...
The first person - is Mrs. Crandall - she was the person that "manned" the Math resourse center in my junior high..... she was there to help the kids and keep order - anyway - i am still in contact with her to this day. She is in ill health - and I need to write her this week - just because..
the other teacher - Mr. Snyder - well, he was one of the Business Teachers in high school and ALL of us girls took typing, accounting, etc. cuz he was SOOOOOOOOOO gorgegous!!! But - I found that I loved accounting and ended up getting my degree in it!! SO, for someone that hated math - I ended up working with numbers!!!
How ironic is that??!! LOL...
Well, i need to get my butt in gear and get this day started...
MEK...I hated math (especially algebra) too and also ended up as an accountant....Things that make you go hmmmmm....
Good morning, Owls!
Oh my, I love your stories about teachers that left an impression. Thank you, Hart, Goldie, Scirish, Whabbear, MEK for sharing your special teachers with us. Thanks so much for your kind responses to this blog!!!
Tink...I hope it goes well with your Mom today. Thinking about both of you! Hugs!
I am off to the Diabled Riding Association this morning. Most of the kids I work with in this area do therapeutic riding. So today, I am doing a training session with the volunteers on deafblindness. They are going to do a deafblind simulation (their hearing and vision will be somewaht blocked) while riding the horses. This will give them an idea of what it is like to ride a horse when you can't see or hear well. I have done many deafblind simulations but never with people on horses. Should be really cool!
Gotta run! Have a great day!
Good Morning Everyone!!
VIG: What a great blog..I love the way you write about your experiences!
Mrs. Finerman was the teacher who had the most impact on me. I was pretty shy and quiet in high school and my confidence was somewhat lacking. After reading some of the things I wrote in an English class my Freshman year, she convinced me to take her Journalism class. I was content to sit in the back and just learn, but she pushed me along...putting me on the staff of the paper and then two years later making me the Editor. I wrote pieces for the local newspaper and then majored in Journalism in college. Unfortunately, a bad car accident and severe asthma ended college for me after my Sophomore year. I'll never forget her though, she helped me believe in myself in a way that I never had before.
Thanks, VIG, for a wonderful blog. Teachers are so special and I had many great ones. This sounds sort of strange but my first grade teacher had the biggest impact on me! And, she was a long-term sub. My real teacher was mean as could be and would grab kids by the back of their necks and march them to the board if they couldn't answer a question. I was terrified of her and was a nervous wreck of a child. (I believe my Mom went to school to complain.) Anyway, that teacher got sick and had to leave midyear and our sub, Mrs. Yochelson, came in. She was kind and sweet and really helped me start to love school after being terrified of going to school everyday! I can still picture her kind face.
Congrats on first, Donna! How nice that your teacher is your neighbor now.
Tinka, I hope your Mom is better today. We'll see you later.
Goldie, how cool that your teacher used your paper for all those years! You should be proud!
Scirish, how wonderful that your teacher sensed you needed him.
Whabbear, I loved psychology, too and minored in it in college. My son, a senior in high school, is taking AP psych this year and it's been fun hearing again all the stuff that's been buried in the back of my head! LOL
MEK, how cool that you keep in touch with your teacher!
VIG, good luck today! I think I've been doing my own deafblind simulations with the political news. ;)
Zona, I'm thankful for Mrs. Finerman, too, as I so enjoy your writing!
HART: Congrats on FIRST!!
TINKA: {{HUGS}} I hope everything goes well today with your mom and that she feels better.
Waving HI to GOLDIE, SCIRISH, WHABBEAR and MEK!
From Area 51:
RONNIE: It's fantabulous having you back in the nest safe and sound..and funny as heck!!
JODI: My answering machine just loves you! ;)
TINA: OMG!! That's about all I can say!! ROFL!! ;)
J/LIN, MO and CAROL: Dang you are all crazy...LOL..
I hope everyone has a great day!
Hi Tinka, goldie, scirish, Whabby, MEK, zona, vig, & Sandie!
I left for a while to work on a museum grant. I finally finished! You have no idea what a weight off my shoulders that is!
Nothing like waiting until the deadline day to finish a project.
Tinka: I hope your mom feels better.
Morning SANDIE!! :)
VIG: I also really liked my freshman Earth Science teacher in high school...he was just the coolest guy. About five years ago I saw him at the grocery store. I wanted to say Hi..but was afraid he wouldn't remember me, so I walked right by him. To my surprise, well shock really...I heard my name and then "Where do you think you're going without saying hello to me??" I stopped dead and turned, saw the huge smile on his face and went back and hugged him. We stood there in the soup aisle and talked for twenty minutes. It was just the best feeling to see him again.
Wonderful blog Vig!
Congrats on 1st Hartldo!
Tinka I hope your mom is better. Don't forget to take care of you too.
Good afternoon to Tinka, Goldie, Scirish, Whabbear, Mek, Zona ans Sandie.
My grade ten math teacher was a real bitch. She assumed that if she showed you something once you should get and if you didn't tough luck for you. Well when it came to mixing numbers and letter I was totally lost. I barely passed that year.
The next year I took accounting with Ms. McNutt. She was encouraging, helpful and so much nicer that the other teach. I totally excelled in that course. I was one of the top three in the class. Besides english, that course has been the most useful in my life. It helped me when I worked in retail and it definately helps me do income taxes. I soon will be taking a Simply Accounting & tax training course for Liberty Tax and I'm sure what I learned 29 years ago will still help me today.
Ms. McNutt has since passed away but she was by far the teacher that taught me the most.
VIG - Great blog!! I will forever be indebited to two of my teachers. The first one is my kindergarten teacher Mrs. Gardner. She took me under her wing and really encouraged me. She taught me how to read and how to love books!!! She also was a great music teacher and wrote several little musical shows. As a tribute to her talent, they are still using her shows to this day in our school district. It was the neatest thing to watch my children perform them!!! I've often wondered what has happened to Mrs. Gardner. I'm going to have to contact Sam's kindergarten teacher and find out (they were very close friends). I would really like to thank her for believing in me and giving me wings at such a young age.
The second teacher that really influenced me was Mr. Spiwak. He was my high school band director. I was about ready to quite band in 8th grade until I learned that he was going to put me in the Concert Band. He really believed in my talent and I learned so much from him. He is still teaching in the district, but will be retiring at the end of this school year. I see Mr. Spiwak several times a year, but will be thanking him for the influence he had on my life.
My poodles' breeder just sent me this advice:
Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't play with it or eat it, just pee on it and walk away.
LOL!
SANDIE - The perfect advice!!! lol!!
Sandie: I've seen or heard that quote somewhere before, and I just LOVE IT!!!
Good afternoon ladies and gents.
I have one more teacher story who "left and impression".
I was a bit of a wild child- hippie in the 70's. (yes, me- thats where I learned the brownie recipe) ;)
I was at a party (of course underage and shouldn't have been there) but it was daytime at a farm where a local band lived and were throwing a bash. All was well and as I am sitting there listening to the music, I turn around and there is my Algebra teacher. With the biggest joint in her mouth I had ever seen. We locked eyes, I said "hello Stephanie (I had kahounas) and boy was she about to die!!
We got along like oil and vinegar and I couldn't stand her, or her me and she was flunking me (the ony time in my life). I never said a word to her about that day- but when report cards came out- you guessed it, I went from a flunking grade to a very respectable 'B'. I think an 'A' would have been a little over the top! She left the district a couple of years later, but whenever she saw me in the halls she avoided my like the plague. LOL
25!!
To all of you Philippa Gregory fans out there (I love her books!!), she just released a new one called The Other Queen, about Mary Queen of Scots. Can't wait to read it!!
Woo Hoo, Hart! Congrats on first!
MEK I have sunshine splashing across the back deck. Thank you!!!!
VIG Great blog, today! I was lucky to have a lot of good teachers, they each influenced me in some way. Of course, there were also some teachers that were SO BORING that all I wanted to do was rest my head on the desk and drift off. LOL
Vig~ FANTASTIC blog today~ what a wonderful subject. My favorite teacher was my 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Rounce. She made learning fun and it was the first time in our young lives that the students that were excelling were pulled out of class for that extra push, given extra work, and given that little extra something that we needed so we wouldn't be bored. I began reading more than ever before. I ran into her in the mall one day....actually I saw her and ran up to her...and thanked her for all she did for me. It turns out that that was her first year teaching. Who knew~
My 8th grade teacher, Sr. Eileen, scared the living shit out of me. She was THE algebra teacher....if you passed her class...you knew a thing or two!!! When you got to class, you had to be ready to do a homework problem on the board and explain it to the class. I can't tell you the joy I felt when she nodded because I got it right. I'm not even going to explain the butterflies in my stomach while waiting for my turn! Although she was strict, I learned so much from her and I LOVE math! She died a couple of years ago.
My 7th grade teacher, Mrs. Hagenburger, was a pain in my ass! She teased me about something my mother did. What I really liked about her was that she would have us review her teaching. In my second review, I finally got up the nerve to tell her that I didn't like her teasing me. It was the first time I stood up for myself. We became really good friends and I often helped her in the classroom after school. I really must find out what happened to her.
Hart~ congrats on first~
Zona~ yay!~ :D
everyone...loving your stories~
Tinka~ I hope you are feeling better soon~
Hi Tina! It was my 8th grade teacher, Mr. Gomm, who had some of us, the "excelerated" group, leave the class and meet separately on our own outside. Ha! Oh, sure we did the work, but mostly we goofed off, made up silly songs and jokes, and had a blast! Those were very fun times.
My favorite subjects were always math and art. I took as many of those classes as were available. Is that right brain/left brain? Maybe I'm a split personality! LOL
I guess that would be "accelerated". I must have missed a spelling lesson or two. LOL
Hi everybody! My power is back up today (it's been out since Sunday). We had a lot of damage here and the schools are still out. I have been so busy with generators and cleaning up sticks and stuff. I am sure nobody even noticed my absence though..lol :) Lots of trees down and lots of power outages, gas outages.
Glad to hear that Ronnie is doing okay.
Vig: Great blog!
Hart: Congrats on first!
Bebbi Actually, I was wondering where you were. I didn't realize you were affected by the storm. Glad you are okay. There are many owls that can't be here on a daily basis or can only check in periodically. It takes a while for the red flags to go up when someone isn't on the blog.
That reminds me, Jennifer I hope you return soon.
BEBBI - Welcome back.....I'm glad you're power is back. I did see on the news that areas of the midwest were hit hard. We got rain all weekend, but thankfully nothing like what you got.
VIG - There is a therapeutic riding center just outside of town here. They do wonderful things with kids that are "challenged". I hope you enjoyed your day....I'm sure you did well!!!
TINKA - It's too bad that you're not feeling well today. Please take care of yourself. ((((HUGS)))) from WESconsin!!
Time for supper....sloppy joes tonight. I'll bbl!!!
glad to see you back, Bebbi~ And glad everything is okay~
J/L~ Jennifer is busy fixing iteach's computer~ :)~
Welcome back Bebbi- glad all is well. Like J/L said, its hard to keep track when people don't come on everyday.
The Biggest Loser starts tonight if anyone is interested. And the finale of Big Brother is on.
bbl
Just checking in one more time before I hunker down for the night.
JUST LIN - Is "accelerated" code for "fast"?!!? lol!!
I hope everyone has a great night. :D
omg....goldie you just reminded me...the season finale of the Closer was last night....SOOOOO GOOD!!!! Love that show~
Oh, what the hell!! 40!!!!!
ok....that didn't work.....42!!!
lol Hodi~ good..the simple folk just learned a new word~ :)~
Hodi LOL It was only 8th grade. I don't think any of us were fast........yet. ;)
HI J/LIN!!
Welcome back BEBBI! Glad you're safe.
JODI: Sweet dreams!
TINA: I didn't learn any new words... ;)
Hi Zona! I hope you're having a good day with plenty of blue.
Happy Tuesday Owls.
I have been on the go all day and finally got home in time to fix dinner. I'm not cooking anything...I am POURING dinner tonight. It's been a rough day.
VIG, I love your blog. I think I have written about this on the blog before, but I recently connected with my 6th grade teacher, Sr. Mary Daniel. We didn't know she was only 23 when she taught us. We thought she was much older, but she really connected with the class, probably because she wasn't that much older than we were. Somehow, my friends and I found out her real name and we thought we were all going to hell, because we weren't supposed to know they even had a real name. Now all the nuns in the order go by their real names.
I have just gotten an offer to meet a friend for dinner, so I am off again. Guess I'll save the wine for later. Bye for now. BBL
Bebbi- I just thought you were out walking, racking up those steps. :)
I know I should be!!!
Hi Everyone!
These last few days have been really crazy at our house, Dr appts, etc, getting ready for Thursday when Laurie is having her heart procedure, and I haven't been able to read the Blogs or comments until now!
CAROL~ LOVED THE SNL CLIP!!!! In fact I have watched it I think about 10 times (on YouTube) since Sunday! Tina Fey TOTALLY nailed Palin! And Amy Poehler (doesn't really look like Hillary, but was fantastic)! I hope Tina comes back at least one more time before the election, she is adorable!
VIG~What a lovely Blog you wrote today, and such a lovely tribute to the teacher that made such an impact on your life. He was truly a "teacher". Not just someone there looking for a paycheck. Although I don't think there are many of those out there. Teaching to me is kind of like Nursing. You are certainly not there for the glory, but for the pure joy of helping a young person become excited about something other than video games, or the latest TV show. Teachers and Nurses, they rank number 1 with me!
I am sorry to say, though, I don't have a favorite memory of any particular teacher that I had. Although, I remember the strictness of the Nuns in Elementary School, and I am proud to say that I really learned alot from them. You couldn't ask for better teachers than those wonderful women at All Souls in Alhambra, California in the late
50's and early 60's!! (there I go again, revealing my age)!!!
Nowadays, I am checking out my Grandchildren's teachers. And I am so happy to say that both my grandson (who is a bit challenged at school) and my granddaughter (who is miss smarty pants, total opposite of her brother) have both had excellent, caring and supportive teachers!
Well my lovely Owls, it is getting late and I must get to packing. We leave on Wednesday for San Francisco. As I said before, both of my older daughters will be with Laurie and I at the Hospital. We are staying in a Hotel close to UCSF, so we can take turns being with Laurie at all times, and also get some needed rest, and showers!
I will keep you informed of how everything goes. I am sure it will be an uneventful procedure, and all will turn out just perfect, and Laurie will be healthier and have much more energy after she gets her stent.
With Peace and Love,
Donna Jean and Laurie Elizabeth
VIG- Very good blog.
Let me think here, so many that I don't know where to start.
4th grade- Mrs. Lancaster, the nicest old lady I had ever met. She had more wrinkles then anyone I knew at that age. I just loved how she never ever raised her voice. She always had complete control of the classroom with her soft voice and she always made you feel special.
OMG, I think I am 50 again!!!!!
This must be a sign that all will go well on thursday!!!!
Nope, that honor went to a most deseving Teacher!!!!
8th grade- Ms. Hagerman-English
She introduced me to Agatha Christie. I think I have read all her books.
She always did the coolest hands on projects in her room.
Mr. Lee- High School Biology & Chemistry
He was tough, but he knew his stuff.
During my senior year his wife had a baby girl. She wanted to name it Jennifer. At first he said "no", because all the bimbos he knows are name Jennifer.
However, he said he remember that I was in his chemistry class, so all Jennifers must not be bimbos, so they stuck with the name.
Mrs. Spring High School- Shakespeare
Turned me on to Shakespeare's plays. I went on to write a paper on him in one of my English college classes and I also took a Shakespeare class in college just for the fun of it.
I misspelled again!!!
Deserving teacher!!!!
That's what I get when I don't preview!
BBL, Donna Jean
Dr. Schwarz College- He taught a class on the Jazz Age and now it is my favorite time in history.
He was awesome!
Good Evening, Owls!
Your responses to the blog were lovely. Thanks so much!
I am so glad that..
Hart's Spanish teacher, Goldie's Biology teacher, Scirish's English teacher, Whabbear's psych prof, Meks' Dad, Mrs. Crandall and Mr, Snyder, Zona's Mr. Finerman and her Earth Science's teacher, Sandie's Mrs. Yochelson, Shirley's Mrs. McNutt, Jodi's Mrs. Gardner and Mr. Spiwak, Tina's Mrs. Rounce and Sr. Eileen and SacBarb's Sr. Mary Daniel, DonnaJean's wonderful women of All Souls Alhambra and iteach's Mrs. Lancaster, Mr. Lee, Mrs. Spring, and Dr. Schwarz..all were there for you and have left a lasting impression! Very cool!

Goldie what do you put on your tacos?
One of my students couldn't believe that I didn't have ketchup for them. I thought maybe they meant sals, because I did have that. However, she insisted she always haves ketchup with her tacos.

Let me get this straight....
ZonaBabeeee is marching to 456.
Carol is eating Potted Meat in her red stilettos.
Just/Lin want's to knock Mary up.
Mary is wanting Mr.Mary to keep himself up.
God knows what Tina is doing.....
Have I got all that right?
I am off to bed too! Just can't stay up, too nervous about the next few days, so I probably won't fall asleep anytime soon, so I will read for awhile.
I just wanted to say goodnight to all you Night Owls and give a HUGE Thank you to VIG, ZONA, SHIRLEY & MARY & RAQUEL, (Laurie got your gentle hug right before bed) for all your well wishes and caring.
Actually a HUGE THANK YOU to each and every Owl/Friend for all the good wishes, prayers, positive thoughts that each of you have given to Laurie and myself over these past few months, weeks and days. You all have kept me sane when I thought I was going crazy with worry, kept me laughing through my tears, and have just been the most wonderful Parliament of Owls/Friends anyone could ever ask for. I love each and every one of you!!!
Sweet Dreams everyone!
Donna Jean & Laurie Elizabeth
Just doing a quick fly-by to say good night.
Good Night Omlettes!
Donna Jean~
I'm keeping you and Laurie Elizabeth in my prayers and wishing a successful outcome.
Love to you both....
Ronnie
RONNIE: LOL...I march to my own drummer...that's why I trip so much!! G'night and the best of dreams... ;)
G'night DONNAJEAN...
DonnaJean Good night, sweet lady. I'll be sending special good thoughts your way on Thursday.
Ronnie LOL Sweet dreams.
Goldie: LOL at you and your algebra teacher!
Goldie: That reminded me of my friend Tony's story. We both went to independent all-boys schools in Toronto during high school, with pretty much all-male teaching staffs.
While yours truly was a cowering teenage closet case (and would be for years to come), Tony was out and about in Toronto's gay bathhouses (this was pre-AIDS days). Well, who does he run across at the baths one night, but one of his teachers!
OMG! I can't imagine!
Hi Bear! (and any other Owls who are awake) I can't sleep. I had a terrible day at work yesterday. I work with a "Debbie Downer" who is wearing me down. She is also one of those people who constantly stirs up trouble. She had me so upset last night when I got home that I know my blood pressure was sky high. Now I'm losing sleep over it. I know it's not worth it but I can't get it off my mind. I have to go in again at 6am and work a 12 hour day. It's going to be a rough one. I could use A LOT of good thoughts. Thank you!
DONNA JO - Don't let the biotch get you down. I hate people like that. Do what I do and kill her with kindness. That's what I do in hopes that it makes 'em feel like a schmuck!!!
RONNIE - Luv'd your take on the events of the night!!!
DONNA JEAN - I hope Laurie Elizabeth does well on Thursday. I'm so glad your other daughters will be there for her and you. Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way. :D
VIG - I watched The Biggest Loser with a huge bowl of salted and buttered popcorn!!!
TINA - You are soooooooo NOT the biggest loser. Goof!!!
ZONA - Waving a wing, just cuz!!
Sending out postive thoughts and prayers to you DONNA JEAN. I will be looking forward to hearing good news from you soon.
GOLDIE: I had to laugh at your experience with your teacher. That is a really funny story. I'll bet she never forgot you!
HART: Try and ignore the bad news lady...if you can. I hate working with people like that as it just messes up your day! Don't lose sleep!!!
RONNIE AND BEBBI: I am glad you are both safe after the storm RONNIE: My cousins in The Woodlands and Spring still have no power and the cousin in Spring had quite a bit of damage to their house. They are all safe and sound but doing the clean up and cooking on the grill!
Hope things are better for you this weeek J/L.
Ok, off to bed or rather back to bed.
Thanks Jodi & Dianne. The kindness thing doesn't seem to work with this one, but I'll keep tryin'.
Time to go get prettied up for work.
I'll leave you with a pot of fresh coffee, Diet Pepsi, chocolate milk, Mt. Dew.....and a HUGE box of Glazer Donuts!!! ENJOY!!!
