New Beginnings
by mary/mi
This may seem strange to some of you, but to me, last Friday a miracle happened! My younger brother Tony went to Walmart!
This may seem like a simple thing to some of you, but to my family it is amazing! My brother has been in a nursing home since a bad fall that left his legs paralyzed. Before his accident, my Brothers passion was music. He is a great singer and guitar player. He had his own gospel band for many years.
He had gained a lot of weight and became home bound. He also suffered from deep depression after his divorce. He has been treated for depression for many years, even had shock treatment.
I have made the trip to his nursing home for over 4 yrs. It always left me depressed seeing him lay there day after day , year after year. He would only sleep eat and watch t.v. He always wanted the blinds down. I noticed he wasn't able to watch t.v. very well because of his room mate. We decided to get him a larger t.v and got him a good set of earphones. This seemed to make a break through to him. He told me himself that the earphones saved him. He was able to clearly hear his favorite movie channels and connect to the outside. He amazingly started to come out of his depression and has lost over 80lbs.
His X-wife, who we adore, still visits him occasionally. Yesterday she stopped by to see him. He told her he needed a new razer, and could she please go get him one. She (I am sure has noticed his progress) told him to go get it himself. He looked at her like huh? She called Dial-a-Ride. They rolled him out with his wheel chair and they drove him to WalMart where he bought his own razer! He hasn't been out of the nursing home in 4 years!
He called and told all of us how excited he was! He is talking of going out to restaurants and maybe a few more shopping trips!
This was our Good Friday miracle! I had to share.

Good Morning All.
It is only 7:00 here and I have been up for over an hour. I actually woke the pups up. I couldn't stay in bed any longer. I spent so long there the last, I want to get back to the land of the living. I will read the blog now.
morning pink/tink
mary/mi...what a wonderful story! you and your family must be so excited..and to think earphones made such a difference.
Mary - What a wonderful story. I definitely believe in miracles and I think your story is definitely a
'miracle story'. I loved it.
Good Morning Scirish - How are things with you today?
Holy poop! That is a miracle! That is the coolest story. Oh, Mary thank you so much for sharing.
Good morning Tinkatia and Scirish!
Tink...Things are ok, how about you? feeling better?
morning iteach! are you enjoying spring break?
Happy Tuesday!!!
Good Morning, Tinka (congrats on FIRST), Scirish, Iteach!!
Mary - thank you for sharing your story - may your brother have several more trips back into the real world!!!
I hope everyone has an excellent day!!! :-)
I have been trying to remember if any miracles have happened in my life. I can't think of any but I will keep thinking through out the day.
The birds are starting to sing. I love that sound in the spring. It is getting a little lighter outside. Maybe it is time for breakfast. Since nothing is being offered yet and I am not a good breakfast 'maker', I will have my usual shredded wheat with raisins on the top and tea. I had my my O.J. while answering messages this morning. First I will check and see if any other owls have arrived at the nest.
Scirish, I'm just loving my spring break! The kids are visiting grandma today and it feels great to have the house to myself! :)
I can't decide what to do first.
Good morning MEK!
Scirish - I am feeling so much better. It's so good to feel well. I want to accomplish something today. It was great meeting KFC yesterday. VIG and I are making plans too.
Iteach - Good Morning. Isn't Mary's story wonderful?
Mek - Good Morning to you. I hope you have an excellent day too.
Morning Glories!
Mary: That post made me teary eyed! The smallest of miracles always touch my soul. I am so happy not just for your brother but for you. I am sure that was like taking a trip to the moon for him. I know what isolation can do. Especially when it is self imposed. Yes I believe in miracles! They are there you just have to believe and pay attention.
Way to go Tinka 1st! Kudos you you and KFC for meeting!! How fun, I will visit your page later today to see the pictures.
Waving at Scrishy, Iteach, and Mek!!
Iteach - Is this your last day of Spring Break? It is here although I have heard some schools are off until Monday. If it's your last day you should do something just for yourself. Pamper yourself today. That is the advice of an old teacher to a young one.
Good Morning Lynn - That story so touched me too. I hope we get updates on it.
Waving at everyone who is soon to fly in. I am off to have breakfast. Oh, I see a couple more messages have come in. I must check those first. Maybe it's the Queen writing me. LOL
morning lynn!
iteach...how great for you! do something great for you...or just take a nap lol
Morning everyone!
MARY/MI: Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I am so happy for your brother, you and your family!
I do believe in miracles, always have and always will. I have even had a couple happen in my own life.
Congrats TINKA on #1!! You have lots of mail! :)
MEK: I hear you did well on your Egg hunt yesterday...good for you!
ITEACH: Enjoy your 'you' day!
SCIRISH & LYNND: Good morning!
What a great story Mary! Yes, it IS a miracle! I am so happy that he feels he has a new life to live again!
I have a good friend who was a priest that I used to visit often (when he lived here). He always reminded me of the everyday miracles. Each day is a miracle; the sunrise, and the sun set, the tears and the laughter, the smiles from a stranger, as well as the hugs from loved ones.
I miss him terribly (as he has moved back to his homeland of Poland). However, thanks to the "miracle" of the Internet, we still stay in touch!
Mary, thanks for much for sharing. That was truly and inspiring story!
Tink: Congrats on being #1! I had to chuckle that you said you made it up before the pups! (I don't think that ever happens to me)! However, they often go to bed before me! LOL!
Morning to Scirish, iteach, MEK, Lynn D and all who post later today.
(I have some school work to catch up on before my next class posting on Thursday)!
Have a great day everyone!
Good morning!
Congrats to Tinka for being first today!
Mary, thank you for such a heartwarming story, I'm so glad you shared with us.
I hope you all have a wonderful day! I'll check back later after work.
ZonaBaby - I just flew back after writing to you to see if you had checked into the blog. I see you have. Yes I had a lot of mail today and it is all answered. You were in a 'writing mood' last night. I am now definitely off to have breakfast. I will 'catch up' with you later.
Morning to you as well Zona (you must have posted while I was writing)!
One more thing=
Good Morning Jennifer - My pups are sitting here looking at me and wondering why I got them up so early.
Hi East Bay J - Have a good day.
Oh...and morning to you East Bay J! OK...I am off...
My deleted post was due to a double posting. Nothing mysterious about it.
JENNIFER: I laughed too when TINKA said SHE woke her pups up.
EBJ: Have a good day!
TINKA: I get to look at your little owl all day..and that just makes me smile.
WOW! Just look at all these morning doves out today. Good day to all of you! Bright blue skies and a frosty 28 degrees here. BRRRR!
MARY/MI~~What a WONDERFUL about your brother! Between your story and reading an email from a dear friend about to embark on a similar escape from solitary cloistering, I'm starting the day on Cloud Nine and am inspired to get off my own lazy ass and DO!! Thank you.
wonderful BLOG!
BON'O: Good to see you! It's 65 here and I am already dreading summer. Can I come visit in May when it hits 100 here?? ;)
OK..the blog is running slower than molasses for me...anyone else?
Hello Owls!
Mary/mi-

Good Morning Bon O and Jax- It's a beautiful morning eh?
I just deleted a second comment because I noticed it posted twice. I don't know why. I am not clicking twice.
Zona - Yes the blog is slow for me today too.
JAX!! Good to see you!
G'mornin, JinJ and Tinka!! Just a quick wish for a wonderful day to all y'Owls. You've inspired me to be productive today, so after a quick breakfast, here I go! See ya tonight.
Oh Mary! That's fantastic! I hope that your brother will now realize that there is a whole big world out there that he is missing and he's not going to miss any more of it! Being in a wheelchair should not stop him from living life. There are many places he can go that are wheelchair accessible. I'm thinking his next big outing should be a movie at the theater!
a quick Are 51 p.s.:
Joey~~Don't worry about finding the coconut pineapple ice cream. It's just not the same :-(
Scirish~~Hurry up and pack. We'll go to the "World's Greatest Garage Sale" together...what fun!
Bye-bye (I mean it this time!)
Good day everyone.
Carol, thanks for letting me share and thank you to everyone for your warm comments they mean a lot to me.
I will make the trip to see my Brother tomorrow and will let you know how it went.
Tinka, you gave me such a belly laugh with your "waking your pups" comment. I'm glad I wasn't the only one with the double entendre mind LOL! There is nothing better than a morning giggle!
Zona, We are getting snow flurries and windy conditions here. :+(
Mary/MI
wonderful TOTD
Tinkatia
got my pom poms out for your being #1.
I have a doctor's appointment today so see everyone later.
MARY/MI: I would trade you, but you would have to keep the wind. I hate strong winds.
Great Blog by the way!
TINA: I have my music player on and I am loving it--thank you for patiently walking me through it! :)
JODI: SWAK! Just cuz!
SACBARB: I hope you have a wonderful vacation. I am going to miss you. Please travel safely.
DIANNE: I am gonna miss you too. You be careful and don't overdo it.
BARB/WA: Hope you are doing well this sunny morning!
A dear friend of mine name Tove who I grew up with was born with knee joints that didn't bend. She always walked with the use of hand braces. Her problems have worsened and this past year she went into a wheel chair. She lives with a lot of pain. Her man that she had been with for 13 years left her shortly after she became wheel chair bound. He always seemed to love her a lot, but also he was very energetic and loved to travel, spend time at the beach, boating and bowling. Right now she is going through depression and bittereness and it has lasted for 9 months.I can't hardly get her to talk. The long rainy cold winter just made it worse on her. I am hoping that she'll come around and feel better soon.I have hope after reading Mary's blog about her brother.I will try to also encourage my friend Tove to take these baby steps.
Dream, how sad for your friend. You sound like a goo and caring friend.
Many of my Brother's friends quit visiting him while he was at his lowest point. In some ways I couldn't blame them. It was hard even for me to see him that way and not want to give him the Cher slap "Snap out of it!" Instead I smiled and brought him pictures and even told him wonderful silly Night Owl stories. So, in a way all of you have been my traveling companions and inspirations. Thank you
Sorry about the missing "d" LOL!
mary- I don't know what left me happier-the success of your brother's ability to get out or you sharing the story with us.
I wish your brother nothing but my good wishes for his continued success. Tell him this old hooter says "hi!"
Happy Tuesday everyone. Congrats on 1st Tink! I was so happy that you and Karen enjoyed your visit yesterday.
Jodi and I are meeting this friday for boozing, I mean doing lunch.
I finally won the battle against the insurance company! Wore that claims adjuster down. Told me the software on our stolen computer wasn't covered. HA! I called my agent and she went to battle and gee, guess what? The adjuster called a little while ago and is paying the full claim. I said the first time to her, so let me get this straight- you will pay for the body of the stolen car (example) but not the engine inside that makes it run? She was such a bitch too.. I am now composing a letter to the Company and givingh my glowing reviews about the agent and then my scathing remarks (professionally though) about the adjuster.
Hope you all have a good afternoon- hugs to you and hope everyone is feeling better!
can't help myself- 50!
oh and in case you were wondering- I will be using spell check on my letter :)
Dreama...Your poor friend! Thats a lot to take all at once. Getting out of the house would probably be a good first step...People do tend to get more depressed if they stayed cooped up inside.
Goldie - Good for you for winning your case. You could have just folded and you didn't. Have fun with Jodi. Have one for me. I take too many pills (B.P. and heart pills) that interact with alcohol so I have to let others have a drink for me. Karen had such nice things to say about you.
Dreama - Swing those pom poms.
I am sorry about your friend. I hope she gets help.
Wow time goes fast when you are having fun. Time for Slim Fast and a nap. Be good little owls. Love, Tinka
oopsie stay not stayed
MARY/MI - Wonderful blog!! Exactly the boost I needed today.
TINKA - Congrats on first!!! And lol @ waking the pups up!!!
GOLDIE - Good for you - and I have a feeling that it may be a liquid lunch!!
I just got home from work. I had a voicemail from my Aunt. She got a call from the assisted living facility that my Grandma lives at. They think maybe she had a stroke - so my Aunt & Uncle took her to the hospital. She is still being checked out as I write this. Grandma will be 91 this summer - but I'm scared. I think it's the not knowing that is killing me. Please say a prayer for her.
Jodi - thoughts and prayers coming your way!! (crossing fingers too)
OMG Jodi! I am going through similar things with MY grandmother! On Friday she was taken from her "assisted living" home to the hospital with pneumonia. She is so weak that they want her to go to a nursing home. (She will be 90 in Feb. a few days before I turn 40)! I just worry that putting her there will be a death sentence to her. She is such an independent woman (and I am afraid if she loses that, she will lose her will as well).
I will pray for your grandma as well.
JODI: I lit a candle for your Grandma, and I'm saying prayers. Love you. It'll be ok.
JENNIFER: I will pray for your Grandmother too. Keep positive thoughts.
GOLDIE: Love to hear when things work out like they should.
VIG: Where are you today? Did the piano tuner come....;)
VIG: OVER...did the piano tuner come over?? geez....
Jodi..prayers for your Grandma and hugs for you. It is sooo hard waiting.
Jennifer ..prayers for your Grandma as well. Please don't worry too much about the nursing home. My Grandma had to go in one and they were great! They gave her rehab and had all kinds of activities to keep her occupied. She rehabbed well and was able to go back to her home. You just have to make sure she goes into a rehab nursing home as not all of them have it. The hospital will help with finding one.
JODI AND JENNIFER: I hope both your grandmothers will be better soon. I will put them in my prayers (boy, my prayers are getting long).
MARY/MI; I loved your story about your brother. Isn't it amazing how something can change a person's perspective sometimes. I hope that he will get involved with the activities at the nursing home as I do know they try and get everyone out to do things. You are a great sister too.
I went to lunch with one of my very best friends for his birthday today. We have been friends for 35 years. He has cancer and had surgery and been getting shots that have kept his PSA low for the last four years. He has decided to not take the shots anymore and explained to me why today. He told me that he has felt like he has been on life support for the last four years. He has felt depressed and miserable. He now has pep and smiles and seems to be enjoying life..his old self is showing. I "get" now why he has decided against the shots at this point and see what happens. It is hard when it is someone you care about because I guess I was just thinking about not losing my friend and not being caring enough to realize his feelings. It is mixed feelings inside that I now have but I have to say---it was so great to see him smiling and telling me he now "wants" to get up every day. MARY, I thought so much about your story as I listened open minded to my friends.
Ok...novel...sorry...
Geez...you would think JUST/LIN would have called or something.....
DIANNE: I'm sure she's called out lots of times by now...;)
Jodi- hugs and prayers. Love you and call if I can do anything to help you out or you need to talk.
Jennifer, prayers and hugs to you too.
Jennifer and Jodi I will be saying prayers for both of your grandmas.
I went throught the same with my grandma back in November.
We took her out of the nursing home in Feb. and she was mad at us for doing it. She loved it there! Why, because she likes to be waited on!
Dreama: (((hugs))) to your friend. Maybe just a stroll and roll through your friends neighborhood would be a good place to start or through a park. Getting outside helps.
Jodi and Jennifer: Sending prayers and (((Hugs))) to you and your Grandmothers today.
Mary: So sad that often people can't deal with other peoples pain. I heard snap out of it from many people when I was in the deepest part of my depression. It only made me more depressed it pushed me down deeper. You did exactly the right thing just being there and letting your brother know that you love him no matter what!
You know, we know how long it takes a broken leg to heal or healing after a surgery. But I figured out that there is no time limit for a soul to heal. It all comes in good time with help and often proper medication.
Dianne/Denver: I am so happy to see you post today. What a wonderful friend you are to understand why your friend made his choice. So unselfish of you to accept his wishes! (((Hugs)))
goldie: Way to go give the insurance companies hell. A reminder to them they actually work for us! We pay them monthly!
Ok gang I will check back later. I am so exhausted today! My house is a wreck and I don't even care. I think I pushed myself too hard this last week. Going to go and try to nap
67?
68?
Where are you K'girl???
69!!! WOOHOO!!!
That's for your K'girl!
LOL!!!
Sorry...meant "you" not "your"! I was just so excited! LOL!!!
Thank you for all your prayers!
Dianne/Denver: I will pray for your friend that he has happiness and quality to the end. I'm sure it was not easy for your to hear, but I'm sure your acceptance helps him!
Scirish and iteach: Thanks for giving me some positive images of nursing homes. (I will make sure she has the rehab one...as that is what they want for her). I do hope it is only very temporary!
Mary: I agree with lynn d that people can be so cruel about being in pain! I have had people tell me that during some very difficult moments going through my divorce and afterwards! We all grieve and heal differently and one way isn't better than another! I think it is horrible when people are so harsh to tell you to "get over it"! (The ones who have told me are ones who, thankfully, never had to experience it). I try to remind myself that they believe they are helping! (But it still hurts when people can be so insensitive)!
Hugs to you all! I just love this nest full of wonderful strong women (and Joey and Whabbear)!
Jodi: Like Goldie said, I'm here too! I am a good listener! I can also commiserate!
HUGS and PRAYERS to you!!!
commiserate- holy buckets that is a big word. I had to go look that one up. No wonder why you get good grades on your papers.
jennifer:
You marched well...lol.
I just heard from Jodi by text. I think it is way better news than she first thought.
thoughts and good vibes to your grams jennifer.
mary/mi: great blog, tell your brother that turtle is throwing him a high 5.
Tink: nice to see you posting regularly again!
Scirish: how is your friend doing?
Dianne: It is hard but your friend
sounds like he has quality in mind, and I wish him the best!
goldie: woohoo for challenging them. And sling one back for me when you meet up with JodiHO
Zona: small things are the bestest yes?
MEK: creme hangover yet?
shirley: did you get some sun today?
Lovey: Hugs to you~
k now back to work.....
Hey Owlettes!!! I just talked to my Aunt - and Grandma has a bladder infection. I didn't realize something so simple could put her so out of sorts.
THANK YOU to all my wonderful friends here for your support today!!!
JENNIFER - Saying a prayer for your Grandma, too!!! I agree with ITEACH - that was like a 25 cent word you used there!!! LOL!!
ZONA - Thanks for lighting a candle. You're the best!!!
TURTLE - Thanks for being there today - and I believe you when you said it's going to be ok.
GOLDIE - I'll call you later.
JODI: I am so happy that your Grandma is going to be fine! :)
KGRL: Yep..sometimes... ;)
Oh, Jodi, I've had a bladder infection several times and they are completely awful!
Hi ZONA..We have been missing each other lately.
A huge THANK YOU once again to TINA for updating myspace page for me. I would say how sweet she is but she gets mad when I spread those rumors.
LYNND: Thanks for the hug but I don't really feel that I have been that unselfish because I have been pushing all along for him to get the shots. I knew he wasn't cheerful but I guess I didn't tune into how bad he felt until he told me that there are other types of life support than just a machine. I guess seeing his face today being so happy finally made me realize how selfish my thoughts have been and I hope he realizes my support now. I hate how people tell you just get over it too. I have a brother that told me (some years ago) two days after my husband died that if I was going to cry all the time it would ruin Christmas for everyone...that was on December 5th..he is still like that with everyone but has never lost anyone suddenly and young...and I hope he doesn't but it still bugs me!
K-girl: I think you hit the nail on the head "that he has quality in mind."
JENNIFER: The rehab in the nursing homes can be great. You grandmother will either not like it and work like heck to get out or love the attention and service and be okay with it. Good thoughts to you
Hey Owls. Just a quick fly by to see how everyone is this glorious
day.
I am all packed and ready to go. The shuttle is picking me up at 6am tomorrow.
Mary/MI: What an inspiring story. I am happy for your brother and you too. This is just the first step of many, and, hopefully, soon he will be back to his old self.
K-girl: I will call you after I arrive and you can give me the details about Thursday. I can't wait.
Tinka: Congrats on #1. I'm glad you had a good time with KFC and also that you are feeling better.
Zona: Good one, "called out" LOL It was really good talking to you today. Thanks for the good wishes.
Jodi & Jennifer: prayers going up for your grammys.
Goldie: Have a good "lunch" with Jodi on Friday. Are you getting more potato salad?
Tina: Guess what I got in the mail today? Guess! No really, Guess! OK, I'll tell ya. Why, it is a beautiful Easter card. What a surprise!!! Thanks so much. Luv ya.
MEK: Have you had your vitamins today?
Hello also to, scirish, iteach, EBJ, bon'o, barb/wa, dreama, lynn d, jax, and dianne, and all who post after me. I hope you all have a great day.
Carol: Thanks for the QOTD. And thanks again for all you do for us here in the nest. Love you.
I have a sorority meeting tonight but I'll try to fly by after that.
Jodi - So happy to hear your grandma did not have a stroke. My mom had a bad bladder infection and antibiotics cleared it up pretty fast. It especially works well if the person involved has had little antibiotics when she was younger. Some of us had too many antibiotics in our youth and they don't work as well now. I will keep her in my prayers.
Jennifer - I will keep your grandma in my prayers as well.
Dianne - My thoughts and prayers are with your friend. He is going through a difficult time now. I bet you really made his day.
K-Girl - Thanks. It's so easy to post when one feels well. That's why we praised Shirley yesterday. It is sometimes hard to even put your thoughts on the computer let alone pushing the 'post' button.
YIPEE!! Good news Jodi. I am really glad.
MEK- I JUST got your message. Didn't anyone tell you that I hardly ever check my cell phone messages or have it on ?? I'll call you in a little while.
Hi everyone. Yes K-girl I did get some sun. A friend of mine came and took me to the grocery store. She is one of these people who won't take no for an answer. She also booked a haircut for me at 10 tomorrow morning.
I am going to try to come here everyday because as a friend pointed out to me in an email last night, if I'm not here then I can't get all your wonderful hugs.
((((HUGS))))
good for you Shirley! And tell your friend that Turtle said way to go! So what kind of haircut are you gonna get?
No one has been feeding you dear owlettes lately, so here goes:
Angus prime rib
chicken cordon blue
roasted new potatoes
butternut squash
baby ear corn on the cob
green bean casserole
salad and dressing of your choice
fruit salad
honey oat wheat rolls (& cinnamon butter or sweet butter)
iced tea
sparking water
assorted sodas, reg. & diet
dessert:
boston creme pie
devils food chocolate cake with chocolate fudge topping
deep dish apple pie

Way to go Shirley. We get just as much out of it when you are on the blog as you get from us :)
OMG- they are talking another 3-6 inches of snow on Thursday! It is a cruel joke, how can this be?
Dreama- I was hungry-now I am starved. Think my dinner plate and I will be helping ourselves. Thank you.
sacbarb:

oh and sacbarb:
I have no clue what the hell you look like...lol.
Ill be the one walking around asking peeps "Are you Sacbarb?"
K-girl: I will call you after we land and we can discuss it.
Shirley: Sounds like you have a really good friend there. Take care my friend.
K-girl: I am in a picture from the BABB on MEK's MS page but not to worry, I know what you look like!! LOL
GOLDIE: Snow?? It's 90 frickin' degrees here, you're killin' me. Want to trade states for a while?
KGRL: You'll know her, she'll be the beautiful lady with the big smile, waving at you!
Wow...look at the time!
left left left right left...
where is everyone?
Mary...I read your truly lovely blog before I headed off for a very busy last day of spring break! I have been thinking about your blog all day...and I think it is so wonderful that your brother is beginning to rise above such an incredibly difficult situation...but what really struck me was your love and and support and loyalty to a member of your family. The last few years must have been so hard for you...yet you hung in there...and are celebrating with him and for him! I could tell before by what you wrote here that you are an amazing person but I think that even more so now! Thank you for bringing such a lovely story of hope to the blog!
Tinka and the furbabies...congratulations on first!! Are you feeling better today, Tink? Hope so!!
Jodi..just missed you last night here. Thank you for your kind words. I am praying for your Grandma and Jennifer"s Grandma!Big hugs to you both!

I did want to say a HUGE thank-you to TINA for the most beautiful handmade Easter card!! It really brightened my day:)Love your signature btw! I appreciate your kind words in the card!:):)
I also received another tiny little note with an oreo button from a girl in Canada! I only know her from flickr and the ironic thing is that on the front of the card was AN OWL!! YES, AN OWL! LOL
Totally made my day..I'll hafta take a pic of the notecard/button!
OH and I originally began composing this post about 1 and 1/2 hours ago, but HE finally called when I had begun it and we talked 1 hour and 17 mins...hehe!:):)So my day is slowly getting better..OMG IDOL is on! later....
Zona?
dianne/denver...your friend has great courage and so do you. to be able to hear him and accept his decision is a great gift. i imagine it is hard to do. it's not selfish at all to want him with you as long as he can be. I hope it's a really long time
k-grl...jessie is now getting radiation on the lesions on her brain. i don't really understand...they stopped treating her lungs..but not the brain wtf? she is out of it a bit after a treatment..in fact she couldn't do today's. she has a close friend that is a nurse, and she says this is ok, but i don't understand it. i have a hard time keeping my mouth shut....but it isn't my place..more than you wanted to know, i'm sure...but thanks...gave me an excuse to vent
just missed it again! Dang FOAD!
Oh I was sooooo FOADED!!
JOEY: Looks like you got 100 without even trying..congrats...and HUGS!
LMAO@me getting 100 by default! Too funny! I really had no clue;)lol

Hi Joey...so glad phone calls and oreo buttons made your day sunnier!
Big hugs and good thoughts for Dianne and Scirish and their amazing friends!
Shirley..so glad to see you and your sunshine here today. Hope today has been a good day!
sacbarb: well the hair is shorter than when I met MEK, but....I am sure when I roll up on my white motorcycle screaming where's Barbiedoll you will really know who I am...lol.
Scirish: never more than I wanted. I have lost too many friends and know the hurt and frustration of it all. That's why I checked in with you. They are probably treating the brain first so that she has more "quality time" as it takes over the brain rapidly. I don't mean to say this to frighten you, only to remind you to tell her every chance you get how important she is to you. It also gives her the opportunity to make the most of her time....
Hugs to you~~~~ (((( ))))
k-grl...thank you...i didn't know that...
VIG: Didn't see you there, too busy being foaded...how was your day?
on a lighter note....
k-grl...can we have pics of the white motorcycle
hey zona woman...message for you here at 8:03 and on myspace!
theres one on my myspace page....
crap...k-grl I really do want to see the white bike...but what you said about jessie is rolling around in my head...I see the radiation screwing with her brain and I kinda wondered why they were doing this to her..since they said she was gonna die soon. but she has hope, so I must have it too. Thanks for explaining
scirish:
I am sorry if I upset you. It doesn't "screw" with her brain, it simply is the drugs. It will reduce the lesion hopefully and give her more quality time. The short term effects will or should give her more time....it's certainly not fun for her or easy on her friends and loved ones I am sure.
k-grl...you didn't upset me....i meant the radiation is screwing with her head..as in she is loopy and not with it..and she realizes it..so it was making no sense to me why they were doing it..but i understand more now
k-grl...who has you as a friend in ms so i can see the white bike?
did that even make sense???
Well SACBARB, I am not packed and am doing laundry. I am always like this and it makes me so mad. I hope you have a video camera so you can capture the whole meeting of K-Girl on tape as she rolls in on that motorcycle!! Have a wonderful trip!
I know I already mentioned this but now I want to mention it again. If any of you have time, go to myspace page and let the music play for awhile when you are doing something else. TINA: Put new Wizard Of OZ music on and it is so delightful to listen too. Tina...again, thank you so much...I love it and so does ITEACH AND ZONA!!!
An interesting note....I just came home from errands, etc., today and received an email from my lunch friend not only thanking me for lunch and bday present but for listening and understanding. I think that might be a little more credit than I deserve about the understanding but I am going to try really hard. It makes me think even more when I listen to SCIRISH AND K-GIRL talk about their situations with friends...thank you.
Boy, thanks for the food Dreama...I have been starving. You would think I would have lost some weight as long as it has been that anyone has fed us on here.
SHIRlEY; It is great to see you posting. Are you getting a new haircut and new color too? Nothing to make yourself feel better than getting hair done..well, maybe a massage.
You west coasters who love IDOL, do NOT miss tonight! WOW, they've stepped up their game(well, most)!
IT'S awesome!!:)
Shirley....enjoy the haircut...maybe even a mani? You are sooooo worth it! Enjoy...
guess i should go try and sleep...tomorrow i get the 3 shots and feeling rather anxious..so i may as well start tossing and turning now and wear myself out...love you guys
Thanks to VIG, Zona, LynnD and Bon'O for the well wishes here and on MS. I'll be thinking of all the Owls while I'm in Hawaii...Really I will!!
Dianne: Sorry , I don't have a video cam. But I will take stills.
K-girl: LAMO I'll be lookin' for ya!
I am off to a sorority meeting, Will check in when I get back.
sweet dreams as you moi moi scirish
3 shots....no problem girl, you can handle
thanks k-grl for everything...i hope i can...i think i can...the shots are with very long needles going into the muscle and under bone...for 3 weeks...in light of what others are going through...not bad...just gotta keep that thought....g'night
125 - since I missed the march!!
Joey - I think we are watching two different versions of Idol - not to spoil for K'Girl!!
Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek- I wanted 125!!
I missed Idol tonight :)
Have a good trip sacbarb!
yes you can scirish, yes you can.
JODI and JENNIFER~~Many, many healing thoughts for your respective Grandmas.
ITEACH~~Hope your 'quiet' day was wonderful. Which book did you decide to read first?
SHIRLEY~~YOU made my day....and you know why 8=)
JOEY~~Glad you got 'the' call and thanks for the Idol heads-up. I was debating whether to watch or not. It's just now starting here.
and, SACBARB, one final "A*LO*HA" !!!
MEK~~Are ya watching??? And I'm missing IBB...hug her for me if you chat.
IDOL's on...gotta run.
Night hooters!
Happy sunny day wishes to all of you for tomorrow. And pleasant dreams tonight.
Goldie - that 125 sat there FOREVER - so I HAD to do it..
Sorry you missed Idol!! ;-)
Bono - yes, I am watching - wondering WHY!!! but I will continue, since Joey said it was "must see"!!! I'm an hour and 11 minutes into it, though - so we can't sing together!!
SacBarb - safe travels..
Dianne -soon to not be - in Denver - safe travels to you also!!
I know that spring is here - we are having record heat and the LIZARDS are out in full force!! News said the rattlesnakes are "waking up" - so have that to worry about now!! OH - the joys of the warm weather!!
Nite Goldie!! THought maybe you would shoot me a Biggest Loser spoiler!! LOL
MEK~~I'm confused...how were we in the same time zone last week?
Bono - Yes, I miss IBB in the nest also - she's going thru some stuff now - I'm sure she'll feel the hugs!!!!
OH - and not to spoil - BUT - I was just blown away by one of the Idol kids that I would NEVER have thought!! She gave me goose bumps!!AND, Simon agreed!!! YES.....
Bono - we are in the same time zone - but our shows come on at 7p.m. here - like Leno comes on at 10:35pm, here -
our prime time shows start at 7! News comes on at 10pm.... I know - it's confusing as all get out!!!
I have one more performance to hear on Idol - then I'm switching to Biggest Loser to see who goes on that!!
Bono - you MUST and anyone else watching Idol - You MUST watch the LAST performance - that must be what Joey was talking about!!!
Brillant!!
Thanks, MEK~~I'm only 3 or 4 in, so I'm still waiting for "brilliant".
I liked a few of them on Idol tonight. I love the guy Michael Johns (I think that's his name) and Brook..my two favorite but it gets so hard when it is down to the final 10 as they all do pretty well most of the time. I like those two regardless of what they sing. I haven't watched Biggest Loser or DWTS yet. There are so many shows on the same night...no wonder I don't get anything done.
Have fun SACBARB...I still haven't packed or eaten yet and it is almost 10PM. Thanks for the good wishes MEK. Are you feeling any better today?
SCIRISH: Good luck on your shots tomorrow. I am sure you will do fine. I am such a baby that I don't even like a flu shot..so you are tough!!
Guess I will go and try and pack or rest and pack or eat and pack or maybe just pack.
Carol,
I tried to send you an e-mail via Myspace for DonnaJean's e-mail address. She said I could get it from you. I don't know if the e-mail went through. Myspace is acting all wonky again.
VIG: Myspace hates me tonight. Please check your regular email.
MEK: It's too damn hot here for March...
I'm exhausted so I'm off for a while at least.
DIANNE: Please be careful and have fun. Take it easy though.
SACBARB: You too!!
BON'O: You are lucky it is cool where you are, I envy you.
And..Good Night Miss Tina...wherever you are!! SWAK! ;)
I agree...the last AI performance was definitely worth hanging in there for! Awesome!
Hi Owls!
Mary: My heart was cheering for your brother as I read your blog. I pray the strength and courage he's found within himself and the love of his family will help him continue to take those difficult steps towards emotional healing.
Scirish: I don't know if this is the case with your friend, but radiation is also used to help control pain. My step-grandma is in the final stages of cancer, and it has spread to her bones so she's in tremendous pain. She was hospitalized last week so they've stopped the radiation treatments, but prior to that, the only reason she was receiving them was for the pain.
Jodi, Jennifer, Dreama, and Dianne: Sending prayers and hugs.
SacBarb: Have a great trip!
From yesterday's comments...
Whabby: I agree!
VIG: I appreciate your kind words too!
Goodnight everyone!
Just flying in to wish all owls a restful sleep with beautiful dreams. God bless. Love, Tinka
Is it OK to say who we liked tonight on Idol? I won't say what they sang or anything, I just want to say who I liked. OK?
SO.....I really really liked David Cook. I thought he was excellent tonight. I also liked Carly, Jason, Michael and Brooke. Kristy was better too. The rest....thpppppp.
I'm on my way to bed - I don't think that K'girl has seen Idol yet and I don't want to ruin it for her!! (did that once before - sorry still!!!)...
But - I totally enjoyed the last two performances and Carly!! I was shocked that she was in the bottom three last week...... even had to throw a few votes her way this week and I usually don't vote so early - but - if I don't vote, I can't complain about who goes home, right!!!???
I hope everyone has an excellent Wednesday!!! :-)
oh - we are SO close to 150!!!
SO - i GUESS I WILL do the honors..
147
148
149 - here comes Tina

Tinka! I went to the library today and rented "Eat Pray Love".It is hard to put down.
Goldie, we're expecting snow here Thurs. I always watch the 10 day forecast before deciding when to drive North to my Brother's. I hate driving on bad roads!

Joey, glad you got the call, now spill your guts LOL!! I want info!
Scirish,ROTFLMAO your 8:41 comment had me in stitches! Scary thing, was that I understood it LOL!
MEK, please tell IBB she is in my thoughts.
I see that I am talking to myself. Must be a lot of tired owls. I better get to bed too. I will check back in after I visit my Brother.
Just a note, in case any of you are wondering. I am one of 5 sisters. I have two Brothers. All are out of state but one sister, who is a nurse. She visits Tony as often as she can. She is the best nurse ever. Just bragging LOL!
Good night all.
Mary: Don't go! Don't go! I loved reading your blog today, and I sincerely hope your brother is on the path to a more complete life! Good for you for all your support for him.

Hi, Jodi! Nice march!
Mary/MI~ that was such a heartwarming blog...thank you for sharing it~ I hope he has more wonderful trips ahead of him. And you are a wonderful person for keeping him going~
Zona~ All I can think of is you saying about J/L: I'm sure she's called out lots of times by now...;) You are so freaking funny~ And thanks for keeping me company tonight~ :)
Jodi~ Somehow it doesn't surprise me that you marched to 1-69~ And I'm so glad your grandma is going to be okay~
Dianne_leaving_Denver~ You are most welcome...I love doing it~ Have fun on your trip....and keep getting better~
SacBarb~ have fun in Hawaii~ :) and I'm so glad you told me cuz I just couldn't guess! :)~
Joey~ I'm glad you liked it~ :)
VIG~ have you made that video yet? :D
cpgem8~ mwah~ :)
Hi. It's early here. A little after 6. Can't sleep. read some blogs.
I watched both the Brayt Bunch and The Partrige Family. I also liked Eight is Enough.
Your Easter stories were nice. I remember mum buying the hard, colored candy Easter eggs and hiding them. None of us liked them so we would give them all to Dad.
I try to recycle. I have a blue bag for cardboard, pop containers, milk cartons ect. I don't compost. I have the twirly light bulbs. If I remember I will turn things off on Saturday night...8 o'clock?
Thanks again for all the kind words. K-girl my haircut is just a trim. No colors. I have no money coming in so a $10.00 trim is all I can afford. I can't reall afford that but I wasn't given much choice.
Shirley~ Enjoy the haircut...we all have to pamper ourselves once in a while...even if we can't afford it~ And it sounds like you have a good friend who truly cares about you! And I'm glad you do~ :)
