Creativity
I have been giving a lot of thought lately to creativity and how it affects the feeling of fulfillment.
I have tried to do many things over the years; they just went bad very quickly.
I mean, how many unfinished hooked rug/pillow thingy's can one person have?
I tried embroidery…I finished one thing, and I finished that because I wanted to give it to an older friend who loved that kind of stuff and it would mean something to her. She could have done it herself in half the time..
I tried painting water colors too…I ended up with more water than color and made a mess out of the whole house in the process.
I tried writing and couldn't keep my own attention.
I tried knitting, I still have the scarf that is an inch long and has been ripped out at least five times. The yarn is starting to pill.
I tried making my own clothes….a gunny sack looks better.
I love going to flea markets and tag sales and decorated my house with "finds". I'd like to think that it works.
I started making jewelry; I'd like to think that it works also….
I think all these missteps were experiments in finding something that would "round out" my life, to balance out the linear thinking me. I don't know if it worked, but even with all the disasters, I had fun exploring/discovering my creative side ….I am a walking example of there being something for everyone
What are your stories? Have you had crafty disasters? Successes? How important is being creative to you? Or is it not important?

VIG, Jodi, LynnD ~~ You all were asking about Nowmercy yesterday and I said I'd be calling her tonight. I did, a bit ago, and left a message. It rolled over from her home to business line, so either they're away on Spring Break or she's too busy for us right now. If I hear from her before you see her here, I'll definitely let you know. I haven't been messaging her on MS, as she hasn't been on since March 9.

I made sure that we set our machine - cuz I knew that I would miss the first half hour - ended up missing a little more - but will still be able to watch!!

I got all the papers cut for two books - now, I just have to put the ribbons, brads and eyelets together and I'm done!! YEAH!!
Then - to put the books together!!
I love the papers that I picked - it will look vintage but has a pop of color!! browns, greens and reds!!! :-)

There is a party going on in my building and it has moved to the halls. The fire extinguishers have been sprayed. Lots of banging. It's a bit unnerving. Now they are playing music real loud. It's 2:10 and I just want to go to bed.

MEK, It is 20 deg. here! At least it was sunny today and all 4" of the snow we got last night has melted!!

hello for the first time! I hope I'm welcome here. I miss so many of you from another blog, but I hope to befriend you here.
The post today from scrish really speaks to me!
Being not only an amateur gardener, but also an accomplished sewer, a novice needlepointer, a sometimes painter, an as-needed construction worker, etc., I can totally relate to creative questioning! Sometimes you're in your zone of creativitiy, and sometimes you're just really NOT! But hang in there and your mojo will return, it always does!
Well, THANK YOU for reading this, I tend to be a bit verbose. I'm working on a writing project and I guess I just think others will read what I write. Not always the case, as the editors that be have plainly stated as of late!
Nice to find you all though, I've missed your contributions on the other side. But e'nuf said on that subject. Glad to be here, hoping you'll say 'welcome.'

Thanks Bon! I actually haven't lurked yet, but Whab directed me here. I hope that's ok to say. I miss all of you so. The only reason I began commenting on the other blog was in defense of blogger's rights to chat back and forth in the wee hours. I mean, who does it harm?? And now I'm a full-fledged commenter there, so go figure! I lurked for a year or more, made what I thought would be 1 or 2 comments, and now months later I'm posting almost every day. It's actually a good outlet for my angst sometimes! :)
Oh well, thanks for your shout out, and I'll try not to say TOO much here. I'll listen for awhile and try to catch the groove. :)
